Sonny and Luke are dealing with the Joe situation. Lily and Miguel have
broken up and Miguel has left town on a world tour. Lily is continually
hanging around Sonny, acting as though she just wants his friendship and
Brenda is very upset about it. Mike is in town and Sonny is miserable.
Stone and Robin are together, and Stone is sick, but he doesn't know he has
AIDS. Sonny and Brenda are living together, but they are fighting with each
other over Lily, Joe and Mike.
The story begins at Luke's one night when an old friend of Stone's and
Brenda's comes in.
Chapter 1
(Sonny is sitting at the bar, while Brenda is talking with Lois)
Luke: Whose funeral are you at?
Sonny: What?
Luke: Partner, I know that this Joe thing has you wound tighter than a yo
yo, but you look real bad. What gives?
Sonny: Brenda and I just had another fight.
Luke: Dare I ask what about?
Sonny: Lily.
Luke: Jealous fires again?
Sonny: Why does Brenda doubt how I feel about her? I mean, Lily and I are
friends, that is all. I just don't understand it.
Luke: Just like all the grief you gave her about Miguel. Partner, I don't
want to stick my nose in where it doesn't belong, but I am telling you,
Lily's feelings towards you are a whole lot stronger than you think. And
Miguel's feelings for Brenda, were of friendship. Now, I'm not saying that
either one of you should act the way you did or are, but the fact is, you
two kids love each other. And when other men or women get involved, it
drives you crazy.
Sonny: Brenda gets crazy whenever Lily is around and she has no reason to.
Can we just change the subject please.
Luke: Yeah. What do you want to do about Joe?
Sonny: I have some ideas.
Stone has just come in and heads over to see Brenda, who is sitting with
Lois.
Stone: Hey girls, what are you doing?
Lois: I was just telling my partner here that Miguel is doing great. His
concerts are sold out all over the world.
Stone: Is he still coming back for the video?
Brenda: Yeah. We'll set everything up here, then when he comes back, we'll
be ready to go.
Lois: That's right. Hey look guys, I need to meet up with Ned, so I'll talk
to you later. We have wedding plans to discuss.
Brenda: Well go then, go do what you need to do.
Lois: I'll see you both later. (she leaves)
Brenda: (to Stone) Hey, you still feeling sick?
Stone: I just can't seem to shake this. I don't know what's wrong with me.
Brenda: Do you want to go to the doctors?
Stone: Maybe. I'll let you know. Hey, what's up with you and Sonny?
Brenda: The usual. He's mad at me for being jealous over Lily. Ya know, I
don't want to talk about Sonny right now.
Stone: He does love you Brenda. He's never been happier and from what I
remember, neither have you.
Brenda: Right.
Stone: I mean it. He...(Stone looks towards the door and stops) Oh my God!!
Brenda, look who just walked in. (Brenda looks at the door and gets up and
runs over, Stone follows)
Brenda: Z, what are you doing here? (she jumps in his arms)
Z: Can't I come to see my little sister?
Brenda: Are we announcing that now?
Z: Hey, nobody can hear me. (sees Stone) My main man...what are you doing
here?
Stone: Brenda and I both live in this town. Isn't that a kick? (they hug)
Z: Now, I know you better than this, what are you doing here? Is there
trouble?
Stone: Yeah man, what's going on?
Z: We need to go someplace to talk. Can you guys swing it?
Brenda: Yeah, how bout we go to the docks, no wait, we should be inside.
Stone: Hey, some fresh air will do me some good.
The three of them are talking, while Sonny is still talking to Luke. He
looks over and sees Brenda and Stone with Z.
Sonny: Who is that with Brenda and Stone?
Luke: I've never seen him before. It looks like they know each other real
well.
(looks at Sonny) Partner, you got that jealous look on your face again.
Sonny gets up when he sees Brenda walking towards her table.
Brenda: I just need to get my coat. (she walks to the table her and Stone
were at, as she was walking away, Sonny grabbed her arm)
Sonny: Are you going somewhere? (holding her arm)
Brenda: Yes. What do you care?
Sonny: I just thought we could spend the night at home. Ya know, after the
club closes.
Brenda: I won't be gone long. By the way, why do you care that I am
leaving? Before you wouldn't speak to me, then you were talking to Luke and
now, you want to spend time with me.
Sonny: Don't do this, please. We had a fight, now I want to make up. (he
moves in to kiss her and holds her tight)
Z: Hey Brenda, you coming?
Brenda: (pulling away from Sonny and yelling back to Z) Yeah.
Sonny: Whose your friend?
Brenda: Someone Stone and I know. He just came to town to visit and needs
to talk to us about some stuff.
Sonny: Why can't you talk here?
Brenda: Because it is too loud in here.
Sonny: You were pretty chummy with him.
Brenda: You know what Sonny, don't you dare pull this jealousy thing on me.
You got mad at me for all the stuff I said about Lily and being jealous
about her, well, you are right now, doing the same thing, it is what you
did with Miguel and what you are doing now. And you know what, I'm not
going to stand here and listen to it. Have a nice night Sonny. (she walks
away)
Stone, Z and Brenda all leave. Sonny watches them go through the door. He
just sits down at the table and Luke comes over.
Luke: Sonny, just let her be. She'll calm down. Come on, we got stuff to do.
They go into the back.
Chapter 2...
Brenda, Z and Stone are at the docks...
Z: (to Brenda) So that was Sonny?
B: (sitting down) That was him.
S: ( to Brenda) He does love you.
B: I don't want to talk about him. Z, why don't you tell us why you are here.
S: Yeah man, what's up?
Z: There's trouble guys. People are after me, so I came to Port Chuck to
try and work things out.
B: Z, what is the trouble?
S: Wait, does this have to do with Dante?
Z: The one and only.
B: He doesn't know about me and you, does he?
Z: No babe, that is a secret between us three. By the way, who did you
tell Sonny I was?
B: Just someone Stone and I knew.
Z: Did he believe you?
B: Yeah, but he is a smart guy and I know he's going to want to know how we
know you. I mean, he knows Stone and I have been friends for a long time,
but he has no idea how that friendship came about.
S: I'll tell him you are my cousin and that you are gay, that way he won't
question your visiting and he'll give Brenda a break. It worked in Trenton.
Z: Yeah, that works. And, it protects you and me Bren.
B: All right. So what is Dante after?
Z: He knows that my group swindled him out of the money he stole from
Venat, so now he is after me, I am not clear on what he wants exactly.
S: It goes deeper than that. Dante has been after you since..
B: Since mom died.
Z: Yeah. I have a meeting with some guys here tomorrow, so I'll hopefully
get a better idea of what is going down.
S: Hey, don't meet in Lukes. Luke and Sonny, they are real smart and they
will be watching.
B: Plus, an old friend of Sonny's has been there a lot, Joe Scully, and he
knows a lot of people. We can't take a risk of you meeting with other guys
if he is around.
Z: So when I come to Lukes, it willl be with either one of you or by myself
to meet one of you.
B: Right. And Stone and I live with Sonny upstairs, so, it'll be natural
for you to come and see your cousin.
Z: Tomorrow night, lets meet up in the club around 9 say and I'll clue you
guys in more, plus, we won't look so secretive.
S: Sounds good.
Z: (sitting next to Brenda, with Stone on the other side) So my man, when
do I get to meet the beautiful girl of your dreams?
S: Soon enough. Her uncle gives us grief, so it isn't easy.
B: Hey, I'll call Robin tomorrow and why don't we all meet for lunch?
S: It works for me.
Z: Where?
B: How bout, we'll go get some dogs at the mall and we'll just hang out in
the park? Say about noon?
Z: Good, I'll meet you then. (looking at Stone, who is looking pale and
gettting cold) Stone, you all right? You aren't looking healthy?
S: I can't seem to shake this flu.
B: Hey, we should go home and get you to bed. You look wiped out.
Z: Yeah, you guys go. I'll see you tomorrow. (They all get up and Brenda
hugs him tight...and whispers, I'm glad you are here)
S: Its good to see you again man. I'm glad the three of us are together
again. Watch out PC!!
Z: Thanks for taking care of my angel here.
S: She's my angel too!!
B: Okay boys, break it up. We'll catch you tomorrow.
They all leave the docks...
Over to Lukes, the crowd has died down....Sonny is at the bar, just
staring at the door.
Luke: Sonny, you keep looking at the door, the time isn't gonna pass any
sooner.
Sonny: I hate fighting with her.
Luke: Couples fight. Laura and I fight and I hate it. But, the making up
part is always worth it.
Sonny: (smiling) Yeah. I just wish we didn't fight at all.
Luke: We are human Sonny, Men and Women will always fight.
Sonny: So is Lucy set with what she needs to do with Joe?
Luke: She is kooky Sonny, but she is one of the best manipulaters I have
ever seen, especially when someone attacks her personally.
Sonny: I'm going up for the night. You good here by yourself?
Luke: Go, get some sleep.
Sonny: You too. I'll see you in the morning.
Sonny goes upstairs.
He turns the lights on and sees that Brenda isn't back yet. He decides to
get ready for bed, but knows he won't sleep a wink until she is with him.
He changes into his boxers and t-shirt and crawls into bed, just lying in
the darkness.
Sonny: (to himself) This bed is so empty without you baby, so empty. Why do
you hate Lily so much? Why can't you believe me when I tell you I love you
and then know it when I show you? Why is this so hard? I miss you....
He drifts off to sleep a bit...just as Brenda and Stone come in.
Stone: It was great seeing Z.
Brenda: Yeah it was. I missed him so much. (a little distant)
Stone: Hey, what is it?
Brenda: You think this will be the last time we will all be together?
Stone: Don't think about that Bren.
Brenda: I can't help it. When I saw his face, I flashed back to our last
conversation and he told me that when Dante came after him, that would be it.
Stone: I know. But, hey you know my cousin, he'll pull through. (Brenda
looks at him, then realizes that Sonny's keys are on the table)
Brenda: I'm exhausted. Lets get some sleep. (Stone leans on the couch)
hey, you all right?
Stone: I just got a little dizzy. I'll be all right.
Brenda: (whispering to him) Hey, you need anything you just yell, all right?
Stone: (laughing)Sonny will love that.
Brenda: Hey, I mean it. Besides, I don't think any of that will be happening.
Stone: (gives her the look that says)who are you kidding?
Brenda: (hittting him) Now I know why you and Z get along so well!! (she
kisses him on the cheek) Goodnight my main man.
Stone: Good night my main squeeze!!!
They both go to their rooms. Brenda walks in to get her nightgown and she
looks to see if Sonny is asleep, she doesn't want to wake him. She gets her
stuff and goes into the bathroom. She shuts the door slightly, and turns
the light on. She gets changed and gets ready to brush her teeth.
Sonny has walked in and walks towards her, Brenda doesn't notice him.
S: (wraps one arm around her waist and uses the other to lean against the
sink) Hi, (he whispers)
B: (jumps a little)Oh, you startled me. I thought you were sleeping, did I
wake you?
S: I wasn't really sleeping. I, I can't fall asleep until I feel you with
me, in our bed, in my arms...(he rubs her back with his hand, and then
slowly rests it on her butt)
B: (looking at him)I feel the same way. (he leans in and kisses her softly)
S: I'm sorry about before, I was a jerk.
B: Yes you were, but I forgive you. Do you forgive me?
S: Can we stop talking for the night?
B: (looking away) Can I finish brushing my teeth?
S: (taking his other hand, places it on her chin and turns her face so she
is looking at him)You don't need to brush your teeth, your mouth, your
teeth, your breath is perfect. (he kisses her again, this time harder and
more passionately)
Brenda drops her toothbrush and turns so she is completely facing Sonny.
They continue to kiss more and more passionately. He wraps both arms around
her waist. He then runs his arms down far enough, so he could pull off her
nightgown, while Brenda pulls off Sonny's shirt. They walk as one, into the
bedroom, kissing the entire time. She pulls down his boxer shorts, as
Sonny gently lies her down on the bed. She pulls him towards her, into her,
kissing his face, his neck and his chest. She runs her hands through his
hair, as he kisses her entire body. They make love through the night.....
Chapter 3
It is the following morning. Brenda wakes up, she reaches over to see if
Sonny is there, and wakes to find that he isn't. She walks out into the
kitchen and sees that he is gone.
Brenda: (with tears in her eyes)I guess last night just wasn't enough again.
Brenda showers and dresses, then calls Robin.
R: Hello?
B: Hey little sis, want to have lunch?
R: Sure.
B: And Stone will be there, along with our friend Z.
R: (quietly)Your brother?
B: Yeah. Listen, Stone knows and you know, that's it.
R: Not Sonny?
B: No.
R: Okay. Where are we meeting?
B: At the mall to get some hot dogs, then to the park.
R: It sounds like fun!! I can't wait.
B: You want me to pick you up?
R: No, I'll meet you there.
B: So Stone can take you home?
R: You know me to well.
B: I would do the same!! I'll see you around noon?
R: Noon. Bye.
B: Bye.
They hang up and Stone comes out.
St: Who was that?
B: Robin, we're set for lunch.
St: Great.
B: She knows about Z and me.
St: I figured that.
B: And she knows about you and Z being cousins.
St: Good, so where is Sonny?
B: I don't know.
ST: Did you guys make up?
B: Yeah, but, he left early, before I was awake, no note nothing. And we
always have breakfast together, ya no, no matter what. (hesitates) Stone,
is something wrong with me? I mean, what is it about me that drives Sonny
away?
St: (hugs her) Hey, Sonny loves you, he loves you so much, I don't think he
even sees straight. He has a lot going on inside and he just can't tell
you because he wants to protect you. But I am telling you, it has nothing
to do with you, he loves you. And, no nothing is wrong with you, you are
perfect and Sonny knows that.
B: I just wish I could believe you Stone. Listen, I need to do some things,
so I'll see you at the mall.
St: See you then.
B: (Before leaving) Hey, you feel any better?
St: Not really.
B: I'm taking you to the hospital, you shouldn't be this sick for so long.
St: All right, we will go tomorrow, I have to meet with Dr Collins anyway.
B: Good. I'll see you later.
Brenda leaves. A few minutes later, Sonny comes in.
S: Hey Stone.
ST: Oh, hey Sonny.
S: Is Brenda here?
St: You just miss her.
S: (sitting down) Oh.
St: I know it is none of my business, but is everything cool between you two?
S: Why do you ask? Did she say something?
St: She just said you left early and didn't say a word, then, hey, this is
between you and her.
S: Then what?
St: She just asked if something was wrong with her, you know, that drives
you away from her.
S: Something wrong with her? She's perfect, so sweet and beautiful and
caring, That's why I..
St: you love her.
S: Yeah. Man, I can't lose her Stone. I can't sleep without her, I can't go
a whole day without seeing her. She leaves the room and I miss her, even if
it is for a few seconds. She is the best thing in my life.
St: Sonny, you need to tell Brenda that.
S: I show her, why isn't that enough?
St: You think it is enough, but to Brenda, she knows something is bothering
you and when she asks, you get mad at her and you push her away. How would
you feel if she did that to you?
S: I'd hate it. (changing the subject)Who was that guy you left with last
night?
St: Oh, that was my cousin, Z. Brenda and I hung out with him all the time.
S: She seems close to him.
St: (hesitant)Don't worry Sonny, he's gay.
S: Why should I be worried? (relaxing a bit) What brought him to town?
St: Business.(looking at the time, 11:40) I need to split, hey, Z is coming
to Lukes for dinner tonight, why don't you join us? It'll just be me,
Brenda and Z.
S: You sure? I don't want to intrude.
St: You wouldn't. Besides, it will allow you to hang out with Brenda, ya
know, make her feel better, show that you want to be with her.
S: Well, aren't you the matchmaker.
St: Hey, you know how much I love Brenda and you, you are my family and I
know she is nuts about you. I don't want to see you grow further apart.
S: We are not that far apart. But, dinner, that will be good. Thanks Stone.
(Stone is on his way out)
St: No problem, I'll catch ya later.
Sonny goes into the bedroom and picks up the picture of Brenda and says to
himself...
S: I love you baby, so much. I just, I can't let you in right now, it is
too dangerous. I'll make it up to you, I promise.
To Brenda and Z, who are at the mall...
B: (hugs Z) I have missed you so much.
Z: Me too. Hey, before Stone and Robin get here, is Stone all right? He is
looking real bad.
B: He's been sick for a while now.
Z: Sis, do you think? I mean he's like mom.
B: I know and the girl he was with before Robin, she died of an overdose,
but I know she was infected.
Z: He was tested right?
B: And it came out negative. He needs to get retested.
Z: Soon, Bren.
B: I'm taking him tomorrow to get checked out.
Z: Good.
B: Oh listen, Robin knows you are my brother, but she's cool. She knows the
story about you and Stone being cousins.
Z: I take it you guys trust her?
B: With our lives. When are you meeting your guys?
Z: After lunch.
B: Be careful. (stopping for a minute) Is Marty still with you?
Z: Yeah, same code. If you need me or I need you, he'l call, you first,
then Stone.
B: Okay. (looking over) There is Robin and Stone.
R: Bren, hey!!
St: Bren, Z.
B: Robin, this is my big brother Z.
R: Nice to finally meet you, I'v heard a lot about you.
Z: Same about you.
St: Can we eat, I'm hungry.
B: Let's go.
They get their hot dogs and go to the park.
To Lukes. Sonny, Lucy and Luke are in the office.
Lu: So Luce, are you ready to charm away?
Luc: You just let me at him.
S: Lucy, please, Joe is not a pussycat.
Lu: Partner, you need to relax. I trust this charming woman with my life,
she will be fine.
Luc: I'll be fine.
S: We need to set him back somehow.
Lu: I thought about that.
S: Any ideas?
Lu: We need to mix a shipment of the smelly stuff Miss Coe designs, with
some powder.
S: I don't deal with drugs.
Luc: You want to contaminate my shipment?
Lu: Look, it will fall on Joe's hands. Sonny, it has to be major. If Joe is
hanging out with Lucy, and he appears on the up and up, this will put him
out of commission, so we can make our move.
S: I don't like it, but I'll check with Harry, see what is on the streets.
Lu: Good, now, is he going to be around tonight?
S: I don't know.
Lu: Luce, why don't you come by tonight just in case.
Luc: I'll be here, though, I'll have to do something to keep doc busy.
Lu: I'm sure you can think of something.
Lu: Yeah, look I need to run, I'll see you both later.
Lu: Bye sweetheart.
Lucy leaves.
Lu: Partner, what is with your nerves here?
S: This just hits me hard.
Lu: Is that all?
S: If the drugs backfire, it'll hurt Lucy and it will hurt Brenda.
Lu: It won't get to either one of them. Sonny, I want to nail this guy and
I am not going to let him slip away like the snake that he is. He is good,
we're better.
S: I hope you are right. (looking distant)
Lu: What do you have happening tonight?
S: I'm having dinner with Stone, Brenda and Z.
Lu: Z, the guy last night that they left with?
S: Yeah. He is Stones cousin. And the three of them used to hang out,
before Stone came to work for me.
Lu: Why do you look so worried?
S: I don't ever remember Stone talking about a cousin, or one that he hung
out with.
Lu: Well, you are going to meet with him tonight, so, see how it goes.
S: Yeah. I need to split for a while, I'll see you later.
Lu: You going to call Harry?
S: I'm meeting him out in the park in a few.
Lu: Good, we'll catch up later.
S: See ya then.
Sonny leaves.....we go to the park.
Z: So, Stone, how did you get so lucky to date a beautiful and intelligent
girl like Robin?
St: (embarassed) I am still trying to figure it out.
R: (hitting him)Hey, I think I am pretty lucky.
B: You are little sis. (smiling at Stone, who smiles back)
R: Listen guys, I need to get going, I've got some stuff to do. It was
great hanging out, I'll see you all later.
St: You need a lift home?
R: Actually, I promised Mac I'd meet him at the outback, so,
ST: Got ya, I'll see you later. (they kiss goodbye)
Z: She's great man.
St: She's the best. Oh, Brenda, Sonny came in after you left. He looked
pretty down.
B: What did he say?
St: He asked if you were home. And he asked about Z.
Z: Did you tell him I am your cousin?
ST: Yeah. And, I know we were supposed to have dinner tonight, ya know the
three of us, but, I told Sonny he could come. Is that all right?
Z: Yeah. I mean, we shouldn't talk business in a crowded place anyway. And,
I'll get to meet the man who finally succeeded in capturing my sisters heart.
B: I guess this would be good. The last thing we need is to have people
asking questions.
Z: True. So, it will be the four of us.
They continue chatting when Lily walks by. She doesn't see them, and keeps
walking.
Z: Hey, that was Lily Rivera. What is she doing in town?
B: She was dating one of the singers that is signed with L&B. Sonny brought
her here from Puerto Rico because he wanted to make Miguel happy.
ST: That, and he wanted Miguel to stop focusing on you.
Z: Sonny, jealous type huh?
B: You have no idea.
Z: Well, I think I do. I mean if I was dating you, I wouldn't want any man
touching you.
B: I think you guys will get along just fine. So, how do you know Lily?
Z: I know that her and her father are one of a kind. I did..
St: Wait, one of a kind? Lily hates her father. I mean, he is the one who
broke Lily and Miguel up to begin with.
Z: that may be true, but the last I heard, Lily and daddy were on the same
team.
B: I don't know Z, I saw them together in Puerto Rico, they didn't get
along at all.
Z: Bren, you have always been a good judge of character, are you telling me
she seems straight to you?
St: I think she is ya know, too good to be true.
B: I can't stand her.
Z: I thought so. Who is she friends with?
B: She is with Sonny all the time. She...(stops)I don't want to get into it.
ST: Brenda is just as jealous.
B: Can you blame me? I mean, she does no wrong in Sonny's eyes. (getting
upset)
Z: Hey, look babe, I'll check into it and see whats happening.
B: Ya know, it doesn't even matter. Whatever I say about Lily, Sonny will
always take her side.
I need to get going. I have some L&B stuff to do, then I have to see Lucy.
I'll see you both at dinner.
Z: Hey, I want to see you smiling later.
B: I will. Bye guys.
Z&ST: Bye.
Brenda leaves.
Z: She doesn't know about what Sonny is invovled in.
ST: He doesn't want to tell her. He wants to keep her out of it, keep her
safe.
Z: Good man. Is she happy with him? I mean, does he treat her well?
St: I have never seen her happier. And Sonny, he would die before he let
anything happen to her. They really do love each other, they are just
having a rough time now.
Z: I'm glad I'm going to meet him tonight. I need to know that my sister
has someone to take care of her, you know, besides you.
St: This is it, isn't it?
Z: She is thinking the same, isn't she?
St: She is a smart one, you know that.
Z: I think it is man. You know how it is going to go down.
ST: I know. Don't you worry about her. She's got people here who love her.
Z: Good. Listen, I need to get to my meeting, I'll see you later.
St: Yeah, see ya.
They leave.
Harry and Sonny meet up...
Sonny: I need you to get some of the white stuff.
Harry: What for?
Sonny: We are working on gettting Joe.
Harry: I'll check around and let you know.
Sonny: Thanks. I'll be at Lukes tonight.
Harry: I'll let you know.
Sonny: Thanks Harry, for everything.
Harry: You don't need to thank me.
They leave. Sonny leaves the park, just missing Z and his meeting.
Z: So what do have for me?
