Time Wasted

Part 1 

This is just a short story I came up with putting Sonny and Brenda back together, where they belong. Like most of
you, I didin't like GH's ending of Sonny and Brenda, so I wrote them off into the sunset. It's not one of my best
stories, so be gentle with your comments. 

It's been six months since Sonny left Port Charles. Brenda hated him at first, but realized that hating him just made
her think about him. So she decided that in order to move on with her life, she had to forget about him. And she did,
a little. She just got off the phone with Robin (who is back from Paris) and they agreed to meet for lunch at the
Outback in a half hour. Brenda touches up her make-up and fixes her hair then leaves for the Outback. Her car is in
the shop so she takes a cab. 

Forty-five minutes later, Robin is sitting at the bar of the Outback, and Brenda is still not there. She calls Brenda's
apartment (there is no way I'd have her live with Jax) and gets no answer. Felicia comes over to Robin. 

&qout;Robin, you have a phone call."
"Thanks, Felicia." She takes the phone. "Hello...Oh hi Bobbie. What's up?...Brenda in a car accident? Oh my
god!...I'll be there in five minutes." She hangs up the phone. "Felicia, I've gotta go to the hospital. Brenda was in an
accident."
"Oh no! Is she all right?"
"Bobbie said she's critical."
"Go. I'll call Lois then Ned."
"Thanks. Bye."
"Bye, sweetheart."

Robin rushes out of the Outback and heads to the hospital. She doesn't even see Jason who had overheard her
phone conversation. Jason pulls out his cell phone to make an important call. We only hear Jason. "It's me... I've got
bad news... Brenda's been in a car accident. She's critical... Are you sure that's safe?... Okay, bye." Jason finishes
the call and heads over to GH. 

Part 2 

It's the following day. Brenda had severe internal bleeding and massive head trauma. The doctors operated for hours
and came out with grim expressions. They didn't expect her to survive through the night, but she is still hanging on.
She's in a coma and hasn't woken up yet. Ned. Lois, Brooke-Lynn, Robin, Jason, Lucy, Kevin, Julia, Jax, V., Emily,
Lucky, Laura, and Luke are in the GH waiting area. Mike is there too. Even after what Sonny had done to Brenda,
Mike still considered her like a daughter to him. Alan walks out of Brenda's ICU room, after checking her over. 

"Is there any change?" asked Lois, who was holding Brooke.
"I'm afraid not. She's still in a coma, and I'm sorry, but we don't expect her to wake up."
"Oh my god!" exclaims Julia. Jax puts his arms around her to hold her up. Over the last couple months Jax and Julia
had been seeing each other. 

Eventually, the waiting room crowd wound down. The only ones left were Lois, Robin, Jax, and Julia. Jason was
beeped and left, and Lois had convinced Ned to take Brooke to the Q Mansion to get some sleep. Lois and Robin
walk over to Julia and Jax. 

"We're going to the cafeteria. Do you guys want anything?" asked Robin.
"Actually, I think I'll take a walk with you," said Julia.
"Okay," said Lois. "Jax, what about you?"
"I'll meet you there. I'm just going to tell the nurse where we are."
"Okay," said Julia.

The girls leave. Jax tells the nurse and then also leaves for the cafeteria. 

A few minutes later, Jason enters the hospital with a man. We can't see his face. They enter Brenda's room. She's
hooked up to many different monitors. 

"Will you be okay alone?" asks Jason.
"Yes," the man replies.

Jason leaves the room. The man sits down. We finally see his face. It's none other than Sonny Corinthos. 

Part 3 

Jason is seated outside Brenda's room. He's keeping a watch to make sure no one sees Sonny. 

Sonny is sitting in the chair next to Brenda's bed holding her hand. He has tears in his eyes. 

"Brenda, it's me. I came the minute I heard. I couldn't stay away. I'm so sorry... about everything I did. And if you
were awake right now, you'd be telling me to leave and never come back. I'd give anything to hear your voice right
now Brenda, even if it meant you were yelling at me. I wish I could have told you why I had to leave, but you would
have came after me and gotten yourself killed, and I couldn't take that chance. But now I realize that, with or without
me, you could die. I just need you to wake up now, baby. I need you to know how much I love you." 

Brenda starts to move a little. She opens her eyes and sees Sonny sitting next to her bed. 

"Get out," she says weakly.
"Brenda you're awake. Thank god," he say ignoring her comment.
"I don't want to see you agagin, Sonny. Please leave," she says with anger in her voice.
"Brenda, please let me explain."
"Just go, Sonny!" Brenda says getting upset.
"Don't get upset. I'll leave, but I'll be back." He walks to the door and turns around. "I love you, Brenda." He turns
around again and walks out this time. He and Jason leave the hospital unseen.

After Sonny leaves, Brenda hits the call button on her bed. When Amy walks in, Brenda has already slipped back
into her unconsiuos state. 

"That's strange. Who hit the call button?" says Amy. She leaves to go tell Alan about the strange occurance. 

Part 4 

The next day, Brenda is still unconsious, and no one knows that she was ever awake. Her vital signs are improving,
but the doctors don't have high hopes for a recovery. Sonny, once again, sneaks into her room without being seen. 

"I came back, Bren. I told you I would be. I know you either didn't want me to come back or didn't think I would,
but I'm here. And until you hear me out, I ain't going anywhere." 

Brenda starts to move and once again finds Sonny at her bedside. 

"Sonny?" she says, still groggy.
"I'm here, baby. I'm here."
"Why did you come back?" Brenda asks weakly.
"Because I couldn't stop loving you. Brenda, when I left I thought I was doing you a favor. I thought that the only
way to keeo you safe was for us to be apart, but I was wrong. And I know that you'll probably never for give me for
what I did to you, but I had to come here. When I heard that you could die..." his voice trails off.
"I didn't know," Brenda said.
"Know what, sweetheart?"

Brenda is very weak and still hasn't regained her normal speech yet. "I didn't know... that you left to... to protect
me."
"I did, but I shouldn't have." Sonny pauses for a moment. He looks into Brenda's eyes. "I never stopped loving you."

Brenda finally softens. A tear rolls down her face. 

"Can you ever forgive me?" Sonny asks.
"Yes. I... forgive you. And I still... love you too!"

Sonny leans forward and gives Brenda a gentle kiss on the lips. Then, he kisses her forehead. 

"So now what?" Brenda asks.
"Now, we have a problem."

Part 5 

"Problem?"
"I can't stay here Brenda. I'm in danger. It's still dangerous to run too, but not as dangerous as it was when I first left
the organization."
"What do we do?"
"We have two choices, Bren. Either we both leave and never come back, or I leave and you stay."
"And if we leave together? Then what?"
"We take advantage of your condition. We fake your death and leave the country."
"Is that all... necessary?" asks Brenda.
"Yes, it is. Can you handle that?"
"If it means living the rest of my life... with the man that I love... I'll do it. I'll leave Port Charles."

Sonny kisses her once again. 

"Are you sure?"
"I'm sure."
"I love you, Brenda"
"I love you too!"

Part 6 

It's been a couple of months since that day. Sonny successfully faked Brenda's death without even telling Jason, and
they disappeared. When Sonny left without so much as a word, Jason got suspicious, but decided not to press the
situation. Sonny and Brenda got a small villa at the beach in Puerto Rico while Brenda fully recovered. They slowly
got to know each other again and became best friends as well as lovers. They spent a lot of time at home because
they didn't want to take the chance of being recognized. Sonny or Brenda occasionally made visits into town to pick
up food or other essentials. On one of Sonny's visits into town, he made a special stop at the local jewelers. He
cooked a wonderful dinner and lit candles everywhere. He wanted that night to be special for the woman he loved,
and it was. He asked her to marry him and she happily accepted. Not wanting to waste anymore time, they found a
minister and were married a couple days later. About a month or so after that, they found that Brenda was pregnant.
They went on to live a wondeful life togeher with no more regrets.
