Ch 59
"Ya wanna run that by me again?"
"It's a long story but look I need to get out of Port Charles but I
can't go to Bensonhurst because that's the first place Sonny will look
for me. Any ideas?"

"What kind of problem?"
"The police are looking for you boss."
"Oh perfect. Look call Valentine and Jason. Tell them to get to the
penthouse immediately. I'll be there as soon as I can." Sonny hung up
the phone and took a deep breath. How the hell was he going to get out
of this one?

"Atlanta's nice this time of year."
"God I haven't been to the farm in so long. Have you talked to anyone
there lately?"
"Bo last week and Cory a month ago."
"How is everyone?"
"They're okay. Did you know Boss passed on?"
"Yeah Daisy told me when she wrote last time. I felt bad about not
going to the funeral. For all the times we drove him crazy he was
really a nice old man."
"So when do you think you'll be able to get there?"
"A couple of days probably. Call Uncle Jesse for me will ya?"
"Absolutely. I'll call you later."
"You can't. I'm in the hospital."
"What?"
"It's part of the long story. I'll call you tomorrow okay?"
"Okay. Bye Ren."
"Bye Nikky. I love you."
"I love you too." Brenda hung up the phone and leaned back against the
pillows. Tears ran down her face as she lay there.
"Bren? Are you okay?" She looked up to see Sonny standing in the
doorway.
"Sonny we need to talk."
"I know we need to talk."
"Sonny I want a separation."
Ch. 60
Sonny stared blankly at her.
"You wanna what?"
"I...I think we should separate."
"What are you talking about?"
"I think it would be best if we had some time apart."
"No. NO! No way. I can't let you walk out of my life. I can't."
"Sonny I love you, but I have to think about my baby. That means doing
what is best for my child. She can't grow up in a home where she's not
completely loved. I won't let that happen, not after the way I grew up."
"Sweetheart, listen to me. I love you. More than anything in this entire
world. I wasn't lying when I said I wanted a baby when you were in the
hospital. I do."
"Then why did you-"
"Brenda, I'm scared. I love you and this baby so much. I'm afraid that
something will happen to you. I couldn't handle that. Brenda you have to
believe me when I tell you that right now, I have everything I've ever
wanted in this bed."
"Really? You’re not just saying it?"
"Sweetheart, you, me and this baby are a real honest to goodness
family."
He crawled up onto her bed and she laid her head on his chest as he held
her.
"I love you, Brenda Corinthos. I'm so sorry that I hurt you. I hate it
when you cry."
"I love you too, Sonny. Forever."
He kissed her head and pulled something out of his pocket.
"I think that these belong to you."
"My rings."
He slid them back on her finger and took her face in his hands and
kissed her long and hard. He rolled over on top of her and was sliding
her hospital gown off when he pulled back.
"What's wrong? Why did you stop?"
"Sweetheart, we can't."
"Why not? Just lock the door."
"No. Brenda you almost lost our baby tonight. I won't do anything to
risk the lives of either one of you."
"OK. but will you stay with me?"
"Do you even have to ask? Hey I got an idea. As soon as you can get out
of here how about we go on a little vacation. No work, no phones, no
interruptions. Just us. We could get to know each other again."
"That sounds like heaven. So, where do you want to go?"
"It's a surprise. But I promise you'll like it. Now get some rest. ( he
bent forward and kissed her stomach) Both of you."
Sonny held Brenda as she fell asleep. He stared at the ceiling. One arm
wrapped around her the other on her stomach.
"I promise little one, I'll make everything OK. I won't let anything
happen to you or your mommy. I won't let my business touch either one
of you."
He drifted off to sleep with dreams of Brenda and their baby.

She woke up and felt a hand on her stomach. She smiled before she even
opened her eyes.
"Sonny?"
"Mmm. Morning baby. How'd you sleep?"
"I always sleep well when I'm in your arms."
He leaned over and kissed her.
"I love you."
"I know."
He got up and slid of the bed.
"Hey where are you going?"
"Well, I seem to remember promising my wife a little vacation and I was
going to go make the arrangements."
"Can't I even have a little hint?"
"No."
She grabbed his arm and brought him in for another kiss.
"Are you sure you can't tell me?"
He smiled. "Yep!"
"Sonny!" she playfully hit his arm.
"I'll see you in an hour. Promise."
He left with a smile on his face. Everything was going to be alright.
Ch 61
"Hi Nik."
"Ren, what's up?"
"Well I changed my mind about leaving Sonny."
"You did?"
"Yeah and I've got some more news. I'm pregnant Nik."

"So what're we going to do about the police Sonny?"
"For right now nothing. Brenda and I are taking a little vacation after
she gets out of the hospital."
"Where are you going?"
"I was thinking about Puerto Rico or maybe the Virgin Islands."
"When do you think you'll be coming back?"
"We're not coming back Jason."

"You are?"
"Yup. You are going to be an uncle and a godfather Nik."
"Congratulations. I guess I should call the farm and tell them you're
not coming."
"Yeah. Tell them I'm sorry and that I'll get down there for a visit as
soon as I can. Bye Nik."
"Bye Ren."

"What do you mean you're not coming back?"
"I mean it's to dangerous up here for Brenda and me now. And now that
she's pregnant it's even more dangerous. So I figure we go for a
vacation and then we just don't come back."
"What are you gonna tell Brenda?"
Ch. 62
Brenda laid in her hospital bed waiting for Sonny to return. She ran a
hand over her stomach.
"Hey little angel. It's your mommy. Me and your daddy are going on a
little vacation. He's so happy about you. We both love you so much. You
are going to have everything we never did. You're going to be so loved.
I promise."
The door to her hospital room flew open and she smiled when she saw
Adella.
"Brenda? Adios mio! I was so worried when I heard that you were in the
hospital. Are you OK? Where's Sonny?"
"Hi Adella. I'm fine, really. Sonny should be back very soon. He'll be
so happy to see you. How did you know I was in the hospital?"
"Brenda, you are a famous model. It was on the news. They said you had
been attacked by some police man."
"Yes. It was Alex Garcia. Sonny and I had a fight and I walked out. He
followed me and that was when Alex attacked me on the docks."
"Thank god that Sonny was there. Have you two made up?"
"Yes. In fact when he gets back, we are going on a vacation."
"Good. He is always so miserable when you two fight. Now what as it
about this time?"
"Well, it was a misunderstanding really. You see Adella, I'm pregnant."
"A baby?! That is so wonderful!! I have been waiting for you two to give
me a grandchild. It's about time!!! I'm so happy for both of you."
"I am so happy Adella. I finally have everything I've ever wanted. My
life is perfect."

"Sonny what are you going to tell Brenda? I mean she has L&B, her
modeling. All her friends and family are here, and now she's pregnant.
How are you going to tell her that she has to give that up? You can't
tell her you're still in the organization or she'll leave you for sure.
What are you going to tell her?"
"Jason, I don't know! All I know is that I won't lose her and this baby.
I can't Jason, I just can't."
"Sonny I understand that, but she's gonna want to know why she has to
leave."
"I'll make her understand that we need a fresh start. She'll buy it.
She'll go along with it."
"Yeah, but she'll ask questions. Questions that you can't answer. Not
unless you tell her how you are."
"Jason, I need your help. I have to keep her in the dark. it's the only
way to protect my family."
Ch. 63
Sonny and Jason made all the plans for Mr. and Mrs. Corinthos to get out
of town safely and quietly. They would vacation in Puerto Rico for 2
weeks and then they would disappear. Jason was transferring all the
money into Swiss bank accounts and was getting the fake passports and
ID's ready.
Jason got off the phone.
"Well, Sonny everybody's doing their jobs. You guys can leave day after
tomorrow."
"Good. The faster this is over with the happier I'll be."
"Yeah, but you still haven't decided what to do about Brenda yet."
"True. But, I have 2 weeks in San Juan to talk her into not coming
home. Or at least extending our vacation."
"Well, I wish you luck. I wouldn't ever have to tell Robin that she
couldn't go home again."
"Well, Jason, it's the only way to keep my family safe."
"That's wild. I can't really see you guys with a baby. Brenda doesn't
exactly strike me as the motherly type."
"I know. I love her more than anything, but I see your point. I mean
Lily is more the motherly type."
"Lily's a very classy, beautiful lady. And she understands the business.
I know you love Brenda, and I really like her, but your life would be
easier if you had married someone like Lily."

Adella and Brenda had been talking for the last 2 hours.
"What do you think of the name Gabrielle Adella?"
"I think it is beautiful."
"Adella? Can I ask you something?"
"Of course, hija."
"Do you think that I will make a good mother?"
"Why would you ask such a thing?"
"Well, I never really had a family growing up. I mean I did, but the
only one who ever cared was Nik. Well, that's not true, my mom cared but
she was too afraid of my father to stop him...I'm sorry I'm rambling."
"Brenda. It's alright. I understand what you are saying. I think that
you are going to be a wonderful mother. You've stayed together with my
Michael all this time. And I know he's not the easiest person to love."
"True. But I still worry."
"Don't. You'll be fine. Besides you'll have me around to help."
"What? New York is still pretty far from PC."
"I know that's why I have decided to move here. I know that Mike is
here, but so is my son and daughter and my grandchild. I want to be here
for you and Sonny."
"Adella that's great!!! I'm sure Sonny will be thrilled when he finds
out."
"Thrilled to find out what?" Both Adella and Brenda smiled at Sonny.
Ch 64
"Your mom is moving to PC. Isn't that great?"
"Yeah, great."
"Honey are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Positive. Mom I'm sorry we won't be able to help you look for a place.
We're taking a little vacation."
"That's alright hijo. I'll have Lois help me look."
"And while you're looking you can stay at the penthouse."
"Absolutely."
"Well for right now I have to get back to Bensonhurst. Bye Brenda."
Adella leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Bye mi hijo." She kissed
Sonny's cheek.
"Bye Mom."
"Bye Adella." Adella smiled at them and left the room. "So is
everything set?"
"Yep." Sonny said sitting on the bed.
"Still not telling me where we're going?"
"Nope."
"That's not fair. How am I supposed to know what to pack?"
"Don't worry about packing. I got it covered."
"You packed for me? I'm not gonna have any clothes."
"Wouldn't bother me a bit."
"Well it'd bother me. I need something to wear."
"Don't worry I packed all your nightgowns."
"All of them? Where will I be spending all my time? In bed?"
"If I'm lucky." Brenda giggled and then shivered. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah I just got really cold all of a sudden."
"Well let's see what I can do about that." Sonny shifted so that he was
at the head of the bead and he could put his arms around her. She
snuggled close to him and put her head on his chest.
"You know what this reminds me of?"
"What?"
"The night before Nik was arrested when we fell asleep on the Cerullo's
couch. Remember?"
"Yeah. I also remember what else we did on that couch."
"You know to this day I don't think Gloria and Carmine know what went on
that night."
"God I hope not."
"You were so gentle that night. I still remember that most of all."
"You bring out the best in me. Always have."
"Like that night you held me after my father beat me up."
"You had bruises all over you and still you were the most beautiful
thing in the world to me."
"Awww honey."
"It's the truth. No matter what happens you will always be the most
beautiful thing in the world to me."
"I love you so much, you know that?"
"I have a pretty good idea."
"Sonny?"
"Hmmm?"
"I have a favor to ask."
"What?"
"After the vacation can we take a side trip on the way back?"

"A side trip where?"
"To see my brother. I miss him and I thought that we could catch up."
"Sure, sweetheart whatever you want."
"Great, I'll call him so he knows to expect us in a few weeks."
"NO!!!"
"Sonny what's wrong?"
"Nothing, but I thought we could surprise Nik. So don't call him, it
will ruin the surprise."
"OK, Sonny whatever you say. So when do I get out of here?"
"Umm...soon. And then we will be off, laying on a beach relaxing,
watching our baby grow inside you."
"That sounds like a plan. So I guess I should get some sleep, cause I
have a feeling that you and I will be doing everything BUT sleeping on
this vacation."
"I love the way you think Mrs. Corinthos. Now get some sleep and I be
back later."
"I love you Sonny."
"I love you too!!"

Sonny stepped out into the hall.
"How am I suppose to leave my mom and everyone I care about? How am I
gonna convince Brenda to leave her life and family behind? This is gonna
be harder than I thought. I gotta find Jason."
He headed to Luke's.

Mike was behind the bar at Luke's doing inventory when the door opened.
"Sorry but we don't open for another 3 hours."
"Hello Mike."
He looked up and stared right into the face of someone from his past.
"Adella."

"Jason we gotta talk. I don't how I'm gonna pull this off."
"What do you need me to do?"
Ch 66- 10 months later
A farm in Atlanta-
"Ned will you please tell Lois I'm fine?"
"I have but she won't listen to me."
"Put her on." Brenda heard Ned hand the phone to Lois and then
"Bren?"
"Hi Lo."
"How are you?"
"For the third time I am fine. I like my yellow farm house, and my barn
with my horses and chickens and cows in it and I especially love the
sheltie you guys sent me last week. He's adorable."
"Do you have a name for him yet?"
"Yeah I call him Ben."
"In honor of Bensonhurst?"
"Of course." The girlfriends giggled.
"So how are the girls?"
"Gabby and Britt are just fine Aunt Lois."
"I love the way that sounds."
"Yeah it sounds almost as good as Mom."
"Well I guess I'll find that out soon."
"You're not."
"I am."
"Really?"
"Really. We found out yesterday."
"Oh Lo, I am so happy for you."
"Thanks. So any chance of seeing you for Christmas?"
"I don't know Lo. I want to but…"
"Sonny."
"Yeah Sonny."
"He misses you like crazy ya know that don'tcha?"
"I miss him too, but Lo I can't be with him anymore you know that."
"Yeah I know. Mike and Adella send their love and thanks for the
pictures you sent them. Sonny says thank you too." There's a silence
and Lois starts to worry about her best friend. "Bren?" She heard her
choke back a sob. "Awww Honey I'm sorry."
"It's okay Lo. It's just post-pregnancy hormones."
"Oh joy. I can't wait."
"I love you but I have to go."
"I love you to Bren. Take care of you."
"Take care of you too." They hung up and Brenda put the dish she was
drying into the dish rack by her sink. She was about to go upstairs to
check on the girls when the doorbell rang. "Coming." She opened the
door to find Jason on her porch.
Ch. 67
Sonny sat in his chair and stared at the framed picture of his daughters
that sat on his desk, along with the
ones of Stone and Robin, and his wedding picture. He set the picture
down and picked up his wedding picture. She looked so beautiful. It had
been 7 months since they had seen each other. 7 months since that
night. The night that she took his family and left. He could still see
her tear stained face as she walked through the door for the last time.
He set the picture down and his wedding ring caught his eye. He twirled
it slowly around his finger. Christmas was next month. It would be a
Christmas full of firsts. His first Christmas as a father. His
daughters' first Christmas. His first Christmas without them. And his
second Christmas without her since he was 17. This was going to be the
worst Christmas ever.

Brenda looked at Jason. She began to panic. Something was wrong with
her husband.
"What's wrong with Sonny?"
"Nothing. I need to talk to you, can I come in?"
"I guess." She moved from the doorway to let him in.
"What did you want to talk about Jason?"
"You and Sonny."
"There is no me and Sonny anymore Jason. Did he send you down here to
try and get me to come back to PC?"
"Of course not. But Brenda this separation is killing him-"
"Well then he should have thought about that before he decided to play
God with everyone's lives. I was almost killed because my HUSBAND is a
liar. Correction, because my husband is a mobster AND a liar."
"He didn't like lying to you, he just thought that was safer if you
didn't know."
"Great!! That way I could protect myself from HIS mob by myself. Well
wasn't that nice of him."
"Brenda you know that's not what Sonny thought. He thought that if you
didn't know they wouldn't come after you."
"Please Jason! I'm his wife!!! Of course they were going to come after
me!! Jason doesn't he know that I would have stood by him through
anything!!! I really don't care that he's in the mob! It was the lies
that ruined it!! I can't believe that he didn't trust in us. In me!!
I thought I knew him. I thought that he was out of that life after the
Paradise closed and we got back together. He promised me that he was
only interested in legit businesses. I'm such an idiot."
"No you’re not. But Brenda do you really think that this is fair to
Sonny or the girls? I mean c'mon. He missed the birth of his children
and he hasn't even seen them and they're almost 3 months old. All he
has are the pictures you sent him and the ones Mike and Lois have. He
has a right to see and to know his kids. And what about Gabby and
Brittany? Don't they have the right to know their father?"
"Of course, but Jason ..I ..I'm scared that they are going to get hurt."
"Sonny would never let anything happen to them or you."
"But it did Jason!! I know he loves us, and I love him, but how can I
trust him again?"
"I don't know. But I do know that both of you are gonna be miserable
without the other. Listen I gotta get back to my hotel. I'll be here
until tomorrow if you want to talk some more or you want to give Sonny
an early Christmas present and let him meet his little girls."
He left and Brenda looked around her home. It felt empty without him.
Just like her heart. She turned on the radio and curled up in a blanket.

Sonny got up and turned on the radio. He settled back down with the
picture of his daughters. They were so beautiful, just like her. Both
had big dark brown eyes and a little bit of brown hair and Gabby had his
dimples. He closed his eyes and listened to the song.

Sonny remembered the first day in English class that he saw her.

you?''
''Sure. Hi Brenda. Nice to meet you Amanda.''

Brenda closed her eyes and remembered the first time they made love.
** He looked up at her. She smiled and bent her head down to kiss him.
He tried to pull away but stopped when she heard her whisper. ''Don't
fight me Sonny. You know this is what you want.'' She was right. This is
what he wanted. Her. He reached up to take her face in his hands and
deepened the kiss. When they broke the kiss he started to part her
pajama top starting at the bottom. Once it was off he trailed kisses
from her stomach to the base of her neck. God she tasted so sweet.
Brenda bent her head down to kiss his lips again and this time he didn't
pull away. As she kissed him she unbuttoned his shirt and then she
pushed it off his shoulders. God just the feel of him made her burn
inside. She bent her head farther down to kiss his neck.
Sonny started to work her pants off as she did the same thing to him.
Then he put an arm around her waist and a hand behind her head and laid
her down on the couch and without another thought to how young she was
or that this was wrong he made love to her.**

Sonny held the picture of his babies close to his chest and remembered
the awful night that Brenda had told him she was pregnant and what had
happened.
**''Sonny?'' she said as she slid her arms around his neck.
''Yeah?'' she turned and was now sitting on his lap.
''We don't have to practice anymore.''
''What are you talking about?''
''We did it. I'm pregnant!''
''Your pregnant? You're sure?'' she shook her head still smiling. Sonny
looked away from his wife.
"You sure?'' His voice was low and husky. It was also filled with
sadness.
Brenda was taken aback. ''Yes. Of course I'm sure.'' She looked at
him. He was definitely not happy.
''Sonny aren't you happy?''
He said nothing.
''Was I mistaken in thinking that you wanted a baby as much as I did? It
was your idea after all. Sonny look at me!!''
He couldn't. So instead he got up and went over to the window.
''Sonny?!! Talk to me!! Do you want this baby!!!!'' she was screaming at
him and pulling at his arm. He whipped around and said ''NO!''
She stumbled back. The tears coming down her face. He didn't want
their miracle. He was throwing away the most precious gift they could
ever give to each other. A child.
''Fine you don't want the baby? That's OK. I will take care of her on
my own.'' she started tearing off her wedding rings violently.
''Brenda, calm down, what are you doing?!!?''
''You can have these damn rings back, because I don't want them!! They
mean nothing to me!! They were giving to me by a liar!!!! TAKE THEM
BACK!!!!!!!!!'' She throw them at him. she was screaming and crying so
hard that she could barely breath and her body physically hurt.
She ran out the door slamming it behind her. Sonny stared after her
silently letting the tears fall.**
She wiped away the tears as she remembered the night she had told him
she was pregnant. It was also the night she had almost lost the twins.

**"Somebody help me! this woman's bleeding!!"
"My baby." she was crying and didn't know what was going on.
"Baby? Brenda are you pregnant?"
"Save my baby." Then she passed out again.
"Amy we need to get her into surgery now. And call Dr. Kristov."
"The OBGYN?"
"Yes, I think Brenda's having a miscarriage."
Amy looked at Alan and left the trauma.**
Sonny wiped at his tears as he remembered the night she almost
miscarried. He had never forgiven himself for the fact that he had
almost inadvertently killed his children.
He ran through the doors of the ER. He spotted Amy at the front desk.
"Where is she? where's my wife?"
"Sonny calm down. She's in surgery."
"Surgery? What the hell for!!?!"
"Sonny why don't we sit down-"
"No!! Tell me what the hell is happening to my wife!!"
"Sonny she was bleeding. They're not sure what is going on."
"The baby. What about the baby?"
Amy didn't answer. She just cast her eyes to the floor.
Sonny slumped down in the chair. Oh god. What had he done? He was
losing everything. Right now his wife and child were fighting for their
lives, and why? Because he had been a coward. Alex was right about
him. He was a coward. He could lose everything, because he had been to
afraid to tell her that he was scared of his lifestyle hurting her and
their baby. Would he ever get to tell her how he really felt about her
pregnancy? Would he ever get to hold either of them again?
Alan and Dr. Kristov walked into the waiting area and over to Sonny.
"What happened? Are they OK?"**

Sonny got up and put the picture down.
"Baby you live in my heart. I love you. Please don't give up on us."

Brenda checked on the girls and then settled into bed. She stared at the
ceiling and she knew what she had to do. It wasn't going to be easy,
but it was the only way to end this.
Ch 68
Brenda tapped her fingers restlessly on her kitchen table. She was
waiting for Jason. She had called him this morning when she had woken
up and asked him to come over. She was about to pour herself another
cup of coffee when she heard a car in the driveway. She went to the
front door and peered out the window. Yup it was Jason's rental car.
She slipped on her jacket and walked out on the porch, careful to leave
the door open a little so she could hear the girls if they woke up. She
sat down on the steps as Jason walked up to the house.
"So what's up Brenda?"
"Jason, I think I'm gonna do what you suggested. I'm gonna go back to
PC and let Sonny meet the girls."
"You are?"
"Yeah."
"Brenda that's great."
"Let's get one thing straight. I see one iota of something that means
gunfire or danger for me or my daughters and I'm on the first plane
outta there."
"Understood. When do you want to leave?"
"When are you leaving?"
"Tonight. Eight o'clock flight."
"See if you can get me and the girls some tickets."
'You got it. Can I come in to make the call?"
"Oh yeah sure." She stood up and Jason followed her into the house.

Jason checked to make sure Brenda was still upstairs and then he picked
up the phone. He dialed and heard Sonny's voice a few minutes later.
"Sonny it's me."
"Hey Jas. How's New Haven?"
"I'm sure it's fine but I'm not in New Haven, I'm in Atlanta."
"What are you doing there?"
"I managed to find Brenda."
"You did? Is she okay? Are the girls okay?"
"She's fine and so are the girls. Sonny I managed to convince Brenda to
come home for a while."
