7/18 - Even though the page is no longer posting new stories, I'm making an exception for part 11 of IKWYDLS by Lisa (myself). The emails that have continually poured in asking me where it is when it's been out on the web for close to a week have convinced me to let you guys know that it's up in the p/j section. Enjoy it and feedback is always greatly appreciated.
The page will no longer be updated from this point forward. Below is the next of the updates list message detailing this shutdown
Yep, this is the end of the DCFFF.
As you've noticed, updates haven't really been happening on schedule
lately. This is for a large variety of reasons, none of which is that
we're lazy. Personal problems, angry parents, computer crashes, lack of
submissions - they were all contributing factors to the paucity of updates.
Now, normally, when something like this happened I'd just send out feelers
to get replacements and continue on my merry way. However, in this case,
it's not feasible. I usually train the archivists, as a good portion of
them don't know too much HTML when they first join. However, this summer,
I'm way too busy. I work two jobs (adding up to 11 hours a day) and I'm
in the middle of prepping for college in August, getting our house ready
for our big cross-country move in September, and trying to have a little
fun in there during my last summer with all my high school friends. I
simply don't have the time to train four new people to post stories -
heck, I barely have time to eat. None of the other current staff members
has the time, either.
As a result, Laura and I have decided to combine forces with Capeside
Central and have all the stories and stuff at the DCFFF posted there. I
don't know when this move will happen. If you'd like to check it out, you
can go to http://come.to/capesidecentral
I WAS planning on having the couple of posters that still get stories keep
on posting them until the merger is final. However, a few nasty little
emails that poppped up in my inbox over the past two weeks have convinced
me otherwise. This IS the end of updates. Period. The staff has stated
it before, and I'll state it again: Dawson's Creek is not our life. A
very small portion of you seem to think otherwise, but it's a very vocal
portion, sadly.
To those of you that have been supportive of the page over the past year
and one month, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea
how much those "Great job" emails have helped reaffirm our decision to
keep the page going for as long as we did. You have made the journey
worthwhile.
And for those of you that have been less than supportive (even downright
mean), all I can offer is: "what goes around comes around".
The page will no longer be updated from this point forward. The archived
stories will remain in place until the merger with Capeside Central is
final, at which time the main page will be replaced with a link to that
site. I will send out a final notice to this list once that happens.
Thank you for visiting and enjoying the page while it was around. Enjoy
your summer.
Lisa
