GOOD FRIENDS

Claudine and I I work in the TV news business. This is Claudine Chalfant, a reporter and a close friend of mine. Claudine works at WXII TV in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We used to work together in Greenville, NC, at WNCT. I can't believe how much she's improved!. Hopefully I'll see her on the network level someday.

This was taken at Claudine's house, which she just bought.

Claudine is from Hickory, and she used to be a cheerleader at North Carolina State University. She's a jogging fanatic, and even though she'll tell you otherwise, she can throw a great party!

While Claudine worked at WNCT, I slaved over at WITN, the NBC affiliate in Washington NC. I didn't make much money, and times were tough, but fortunetly, I had some good folks to help me weather the bad times. As you can tell by this picture, we had our share of fun!. From left to right: me, Keith Yaskin (reporter, now working at WXLV), Kim Roberson (producer, now PIO for the Arlington County Virginia Sheriff's department), Jean Leier (assignment editor, now at WSOC in Charlotte), David Ivey (photographer, now at WNCN in Raleigh), Christi Smith (director, WXII, Winston-Salem, NC), and Bryan Mudd (sports anchor, now at the NBC affiliate in Abiline Texas). We always used to go to this one bar called Champagne's in Greenville. We'd drink, dance, and have a good ole time.

Jim Hanchett and I at the 1996 Summer OlympicsDuring the 1996 Summer Olympics, I worked for the NBC News Channel as a writer and a field producer. The work was hard, and the hours were long, but thanks to guys like Jim Hanchett, it made it all more bearable. Jim is a reporter for the News Channel. He's from upstate New York, and worked in Colorado before making the jump to the network. You may recognize him since he reports for the NBC stations out of Washington D.C.

Jim is married to Sally...and she too works for NBC Newschannel.

My life (and this webpage) wouldn't be complete without Kim.
She lives downstairs from my old apartment in High Point. Thanks to her, I was able to scan these pictures from my collection to share with you on this webpage. Kim has a master's degree in rehab psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill (that makes her a true Tar Heel!). Here's a picture of her at graduation!

Kim's aunt and uncle live in High Point. She has a brother who's married and works for a large trucking company.
