I remember very little about my grandfather, but what I have heard about him ,tells me where I get some of my traits and character from.
Grandpa was a Jack of all Trades,I don't think there was anything he couldn't do if he tried.
Except keep a wife,as grandpa was married three times.
He was a cartoonist and a good one at that. I have a book he did when he was in France in WW1 and it was cartoon form all about the soldiers and of course woman in France.
He was a wood carver and worked for Hershity Clock Maker and carved big grandfather clock faces and he also worked making posters at a printing company. They made posters for circus's .Grandpa wood hand carve each feature that went on the poster out of wood.It was fascinating to watch him at work.
Boy , did he love his Banjo,he played in bands all of his life and they claim he was one of the best.
He also was given the Kentucky Colonel Award.
The last time I remember seeing my grandfather, was when I was ten years old and he gave me an art lesson. Then they moved to California and I never saw them again.
My dada Ronald Catiller died when I was two years old and left my mom with four small children. From what I am told there was a big family feud over us children and I never saw my grand mother Louise ,that I can remember.
My mother never spoke of my dads family ,so before she died I ask her about them and she told me I could try and find them ,so I did.
By this time my grand parents had passed on,but I did find one of my Uncles and he came to see me right away.
This is where my research begins!!!!
I had very few pictures of my family and thru my research I found distant cousins who had all of the family pictures and now my office hangs full of family trophies. My most cherished item is a charcol drawing that my grandfather did of Marlena Dietrick, the movie star ,it was all crumpled up in the bottom of an old picture box  at my aunts house. I thought well it couldn't mean anything to her, because of the shape it was in,so I boldly ask if I could have it.
I restored it and am so proud of it.
