The Biography of Luang Phor Yit

His birth

Luang Phor Yit "Chanta Suwanno" was born on the Tuesday, 10th June 2476 at the village named "Ban Don Hua Gruad" in the province of Petchburi.  His former name was "Yit Sridokbuab".  His father's name was "Kaew" and mother's was ""Proy".  His family had 7 children; Luang Phor Yit was the 5th son.

His childhood

There was a temple "Wat Na Phrom" near Luang Phor Yit's house.  The head monk of Wat Na Phrom was Luang Phor Huan, and he was Luang Phor Yit's uncle.  When monks from Wat Na Phrom, went to Luang Phor Yit's house to ask for food in the morning (Bin Ta Baht), Luang Phor Yit always followed those monks to Wat Na Phrom.  Eventually, Luang Phor Huan permitted Luang Phor Yit to stay at the temple.

Starting study

At the age of 8, Luang Phor Yit stayed at Wat NaPhrom for 3 years.  Luang Phor Huan brought Luang Phor Yit to study with a teacher named "Lee Mannam".  Teacher Lee taught basic knowledge and Thai alphabet to Luang Phor Yit.  Luang Phor Yit was a good and clever student; everyone loved him.

Turning to a novice monk (Sam Ma Nen)

One day Luang Phor Yit was mature enough to be a novice monk (under 20 years old). Luang Phor Huan set the ordination to Luang Phor Yit, by the encouragement from Luang Phor Yit's family.  As a novice monk, Luang Phor Yit still studied with teacher Lee, and he also had to study Buddhism with Luang Phor Huan.  Luang Phor Huan brought a Buddhism book named "Phra Malai" to teach Luang Phor Yit.

In a day, apart from routine activity as a novice monk, Luang Phor Yit also had to study a lot.  Sometimes he studied the way to preach too.

Interested in magic

Luang Phor Yit was interested in study magic, so he begged Luang Phor Huan to teach him some.  As Luang Phor Huan saw a strong intention in studying magic from Luang Phor Yit. Luang Phor Huan promised to teach him, but he told Luang Phor Yit must not omit to study Dharma too.

The special kind of magic, which Luang Phor Yit was interested in, was "Sak Yant" (tattoo Yant on human body).  Luang Phor Yit gave all his effort to study magic.

Luang Phor Yit was popular among people.

Luang Phor Yit was very good at preaching. So people respected him a lot, and always presented him food and other things.  Luang Phor Yit took a shower once in a year and his body doesn’t smell any bad scent.  On SongKra day and he would allow his disciples to scratch his body by a metal brush.  Amazingly, Luang Phor Yit doesn’t feel pain or neither bleed from his flesh.  Luang Phor Yit has passed away in B.E.2539.
