Davy Smyth joined The Pasado Showband in 1967and played his first gig supporting The Who!
A succession of other gigs followed supporting, among others, The Fortunes, Love Affair and
The Tremoloes, who were all to play at the Pavilion. The Pasado Showband toured all over Ireland
and Scotland before eventually changing their name to 'Candy'. When Davy stopped touring
he opened Wizard Sound Studios at Anne Street, Belfast, and went on to record and produce
many artists. He produced Teenage Kicks for the Undertones, who went on to
become major artists. John Peel cited Teenage Kicks as his favourite record of all time.
