QYRAH
Played By: Cecilia
Character Name: Qyrah (means 'she who listens')
Cub Name: Aameh
Previous Names: Aameh
Race: Sun-Folk
Gender: female
Age: 198
Height: 5'6"
Build: Qyrah is a well-built elf. But though her very feminine build might
be considered a hindrance in speed and agility, she's proven it otherwise
time after another. She's not the fastest runner, but she can cope, being
quite agile.
Hair Color: Qyrah's hair is long. And in her case, long means long.
If kept loose it would reach just below her knees. It's very smooth and shiny
with a wave to it that ends in smaller curls at the tips. As most of her
people, she has very dark hair, but with a slightly reddish-orange hint to
it, which mostly shows when hit by the sun. As she loves her long hair, she
would never dream of cutting it off, but still finds it in the way and as
a hinderance most of the time.
She keeps most of it in a thick braid, which is rolled into a knot at the
back of her head, with a long end of the braid hanging out of the knot. However,
she's kept two thick strands on each side of her face loose, which are braided
into two separate braids on each side of the face. The first braid on each
side start at the middle of the front of her hair and going very tightly
around the sides of her head to finally be fastened in the already braided
knot. The second braid on each side of the face is slightly thicker than
the first and hangs loosely down from in front of her ears to be fastened
at the tip around the knot. She also has a few short strands in front of
her face. The braids on the sides of her face are decorated with green pearls
fastened into the braids here and there. (At times she also wears her hair
in a high ponytail, fastened with a golden clip.
Eyes: Her eyes are quite slanted and fox-like. They always have a seductive
look to them, complete with long, black lashes. Her eyes are a deep shade
of gold with a hint of orange to them.
Skin Color: As a Sun-villager, her skin is very dark, which enhances the
color of her eyes.
Facial Features: She has a heart-shaped face with full lips. She's mostly
seen with a seductive half-smile on her golden-shaded lips, often completely
unaware of it herself
Voice: Her voice is soft, feminine and very persuasive. Even when shouting
or mad, it still keeps a slight ringing-sound to it
Mental Voice: Her mental voice is even softer and more feminine than her
actual voice.
Scars, Birthmarks, Etc.: Qyrah has a round, black birthmark just beneath
her left eye. It's not large, just more like a dot. She also has a quite
deep scar on her right hip which she tried to hide as much as possible. She
got the scar when she was only sixteen, falling off a cliff. Her tribe didn't
have a healer and though the wound was sewed up, it never faded much.
Occupation: Herbal healer/potter/dancer
Lovemate: She's had quite a lot of lovemates in her life but the dearest
was Kire. They started lovemating when Qyrah was but fifteen and stayed as
lovemates until he died of a poisonous snakebite, twenty years later. They
shared a lot together and his death pained Qyrah more than she'd admit. She
gave an impression of getting over him rapidly, but though she's had plenty
of lovemates after him, she still can't forget him and always compares everyone
to him. She's actually more fond of occasional 'fur-mates' than steady lovemates
and there's been a lot of them as well. She loves to flirt and will do anything
to ensnare the person she's chosen. But there's rarely anything more than
respect and affection behind her choice of furmate. She rarely experiences
love in that form.
Lifemate: none
Recognized: none
Family: Rootah (mother; deceased), Selem (father; deceased), Tireem (brother;
missing)
Children: none
Usual Clothing: A yellow and orange top. It's cut like a short, loose halter
top, but with really long and wide sleeves fastened at the sides, complete
with a big hood to shade her from the burning sun. The top in itself is a
mild shade of yellow but it's decorated with two horizontal, orange stripes
meeting at the middle of the very bottom of the shirt. The bottom of the
shirt is triangular (with the point down) and decorated with a green triangle,
plus several green pearls along the edge of the shirt.
With the top, she wears a skirt in the same shade of light yellow, with one
orange stripe on each side, going all the way down. The skirt is ankle-length
and decorated with the same green pearls along the upper and lower lining.
She wears worn leather boots that tent to clash with the outfit.
In general, Qyrah loves to change clothes a lot and she used to own one pair
of clothing after the other. Now, she's only getting used to not being able
to 'dress up' when she feels like it.
Heavy Clothing: As she's not used to cold weather, she only has a hooded,
red and black cloak to 'keep her warm'.
Light Clothing: In the warmer of the seasons, Qyrah exchanges her long skirt
for a shorter, more sarong-style one, tied at the side. The skirt is also
yellow, but decorated with red and orange flowers etc. She also exchanges
her top for a strapless bikini-like orange top with yellow lining.
Jewelry/Adornments: Qyrah has one big golden hoop with a small emerald in
it in each earlobe. In her left ear, that hoop is closely followed by two
smaller, simple gold hoops and a small, round, button-like emerald. In her
right ear, she only has one smaller gold hoop and emerald-button.Around her
forehead, right under the line of her hair, she wears a thin gold circlet
with a round emerald in the middle. There are also green pearls fastened
here and there into the braids at the sides of her face.
She has a flat, golden necklace with a triangular emerald in the middle.
The triangle stands with the point up and the necklace in itself is quite
thin at the back of her neck and widens quite a lot at the middle (front).
She has three golden bracelets around her left wrist, one of which is decorated
with several emeralds.
Occasionally (mostly at celebrations) she fastens a thin, gold chain around
her belly (this one decorated with several ruby-like stones instead of emeralds).
Weapons/Tools: As she left her tribe, Qyrah took little with her, but she
knew her old spear and her silver dagger would come in handy and took them
with her. None know about the dagger and most doubt she has any skill for
the spear. She has yet to show them...
Special Items: The chain she occasionally wears around her belly was her
mothers, as well as the headpiece, the bigger hoops in her ears and the bracelets
with the emeralds. She treasures these in secret over anything else.. .well
almost anything else, because even more special to her is the small, silver
dagger that she wears tied around her right leg. This one is special to her
because it was a gift from her former lovemate, Kire. He had spent many eights
of days working on it to get it just right for her and it's her most loved
weapon.
Magic: Sending (but she doesn't use it very much. She always liked the soft
whisper of a voice better and found her sensual, teasing voice to work much
better on the males)
Fears: Never knowing the source of the call that drives her, snakes, dark
and enclosed spaces.
Likes: Colors, emeralds, dancing, flirting, shocking people, making males
blush, gold, socializing, fish, eating greens, the sun, sunrises and sunsets,
trying new things.
Dislikes: failing, getting roughly turned down, snakes, ignorant people who
refuse to take help when offered it, sending, large animals
Personality: As said, Qyrah is very flirty and hardly watches her mouth.
It does not mean she'll say anything at any time, she does know what to shut
up, but she does not hesitate to speak her mind, even if it's against the
chief or an elder. But if she says something, you can be sure that she planned
on it as well. She's very strong-minded and hates to fail. If she doesn't
succeed in something, she'll do it again until she does. She's very feminine
and good-looking in an exotic way and she knows it. She also knows how to
use that, but it does not mean she'll automatically throw herself at just
anyone. She can make people blush easily and she loves that. A tomboy as
a child, some of that still sticks with her, for example when it comes to
weapons and fighting, but she's fully embraced her feminine side and has
no regrets about it.
Qyrah loves to try new things. She's not the one to say no to, let's say
a piece of raw meat, even though the mere thought of it disgusts her. Instead,
she believes that everything should be tried once even if you don't like
it. She hates showing weakness and fear and will do practically anything
to hide it, but that does not mean she won't act it if she thinks it might
gain her something...special.
Sees Self As: A roleplayer. She's has many different roles in her life, but
it's always a kind of a game to her. She can be the flirt, or the tomboy
or the fighter or the weak female. Or many of those combined. But she always
knows exactly who she really is and will never fully accept one role as her
only one. She's often herself though, only playing a part when it will gain
her something.
She thinks she's too weak for her own good just because she's never been
able to forget the lovemate that meant so much to her, and because she still
mourns the fact that her father denied her as his daughter, telling her she
didn't need to bother coming back if she chose to follow 'the call' she was
'hearing' (as he said) .She still loves him though. She also thinks she's
weak because she still fears dark, small places (a fear born after being
locked into a hole in the ground when she was a child) and snakes. (after
her lovemate died of being bitten by one).
History: Qyrah was born to two lifemated Sun-followers (as her people were
called). Their tribe was a small one, consisting of no more than a couple
of elders, three adults, two youths, three smaller children and the Wise
One (their leader). The tribe did grow a bit during her life, but not much.
Her childhood was spent helping out in the garden and playing with her three
agemates.
All children but Qyrah (or Aameh as she was called then) were boys and she
grew up to be a tomboy, using any weapon as well as the boys and even running
faster and being stronger than two of them. Her parents disliked this, as
it had always been considered in her tribe that the women were the ones to
cook, tend to the children and take care of the elders while the men went
hunting for the little game they could find in the desert. Qyrah didn't approve
of this and saw it as a silly rule, but by the time she'd turned twelve,
she'd given in to her mother's wishes and agreed to put away the weapons.
She became quite accustomed to the life of the women and saw now that they
held more power in the way they moved, spoke and acted than the males could
ever hold in a weapon. She came to like this way of ruling others and soon
grew to become the most radiant and beautiful female of the tribe, sought
after by adults as well as youths and children.
At first, she sought pleasure in any who wanted to give it to her, but it
wasn't long until she started to realize that she could rule the males even
more and be even more in charge. After that day, she'd be very picky in her
furmates, loving to tease the other males while giving herself only to one
or two. As Qyrah had reached the age fourteen, her mother gave birth to a
male child. It was a time of celebration as no other as the tribe was growing
smaller by the moment. Tireem, as the boy was called came to be adored by
all, but mostly by his sister.
At fifteen, Qyrah lovemated with Kire, a male older than her, but who suited
her perfectly. Only to him would she admit her love for him and only to him
could she tell her secrets and fears. They became best friends as well as
lovers. However, only twenty turns later, Kire was taken from the tribe as
a result of a fatal snakebite. He'd died almost on the spot and this incident
drew the grieving Qyrah to learn more about her herbal healing then ever
before.
After that, however, life went on as it had always done, with no disturbing
incidents until Qyrah's brother suddenly disappeared. Tireem was but forty
turns of age and still considered a youth with the sun-followers. No one
would tell Qyrah why Tireem has left, but she knew he'd done so willingly
and that he'd had several unfriendly encounters with the Wise One some moons
before. Qyrah never did find out why he had left, and if anyone else knew,
they saw it fit not to tell her.
Once again, life continued, though partly heavier for Qyrah, who missed the
company of her brother and friend. It was about the time that Qyrah was about
to turn one hundred eighty-seven, that she started to hear what she'd come
to call 'The Call'. At first she thought someone was playing with her, teasing
her with sendings. But it didn't take long until it grew in her, feeling
as if someone was pulling her somewhere. And not long after this, she realized
she was the only one who felt this way.
At this time Qyrah still had her childhood name, Aameh. But as the others
of her tribe found out about what she was 'feeling' and heard her mentioning
it as 'The Call', they started calling her Qyrah as a joke (meaning 'she
who listens'). Qyrah accepted this joke and her new name, but she had no
idea what was really going on inside the minds of her family and friends.
Turns went by and the tribe started shutting Qyrah out more and more. She
tried convincing them that what she felt was real and that they had to follow
this call, but they would not listen. Finally, it was the Wise One who explained
why.
"Are you to say that you have heard a call, which may be important to our
race?" he asked her at a gathering. Qyrah nodded and he continued, "Then
you are to say that am no longer the Wise One, are you not? Since I have
not heard it, I must be lower than you. Do you mean to say that you are above
me?"
Like this it continued until the only one still standing by her was her mother.
Qyrah, being the person she was, would not let them stop her. Knowing in
her heart that it was important for her to follow her heart and the pull
on her soul, Qyrah chose to leave, leaving behind her a village of memories
and a weeping mother.
For a few turns, Qyrah kept to the desert and it's familiar heat, surviving
with the aid of her weapons and her skills of herbs. But not long ago, the
call started pulling her north, towards the unknown lands and the forest
of hidden secrets. Keeping to the outskirts of the forest, Qyrah remained
to the partly familiar desert, until entering the mountains.
Entering the unfamiliar territory brought with it a range of problems. She
wasn't very skilled in hunting in neither forest nor mountain, but she made
due with what she had and knew. Still following the forest line, she didn't
get much further before she stumbled onto a small band of elves, the leader
calling himself Griel...
Quote: "You can take away my pride, my dignity and my ability to love. You
can even take away my very soul. But you can never stop me from following
The Call!" / "I could make you blush, sweat and whimper. I could make you
desire me with all of your being or make you follow the very movements of
my soul. I could make you experience the uttermost pleasure of the elfin
being and make you beg for more. I just don't like you."
