Helen Keller was a remarkable woman. She was born perfectly normal, but at the age of 19 months, after having scarlet fever, she was left blind, deaf, and mute. She grew into an uncontrollable child but after she was examined by the inventor Alexander Bell, her life changed. He sent her a teacher, specially trained to work with blind children. That woman was Anne Sullivan.

Helen's breakthrough came when Anne taught her the word and concept for water. With that simple beginning, the two forged a marvelous friendship. Helen graduated from college and also became a world famous writer and social activist. She worked for the American Foundation for the Blind for over 40 years and helped so many. The story of these two special women was made into a movie entitled, "The Miracle Worker."

Here is an inspirational quote from Helen Keller: "The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has site, but no vision."

Helen Keller certainly had a vision and so did many others. Come along with us and meet the women who throughout history have paved the way for us.

Woman

Curves on the beach
At sunset
They are beautiful
Cafe latte tones
With a sweet and soft aroma
It magnetizes
Bewitches
You wish to touch
Hike the mountains
Slide down the valleys
Taste it
Feel the heat
Explore the caverns
Discover delights
Receive caresses
Feel the seawater
Drown the senses
Fall asleep to the sound of the tunes
Coming from the depths of the ocean.
When you woke up, all had vanished...
The water took the curves
Of the body of a Woman.
