Midsumma

Midsumma starts January 23rd and ends on Sunday January 15th. Cultivating the spectacular talent and
contributions of many Melburnians, this year’s festival has some of the old faves as well as some replacements and
new additions. Diversity, courage and entertainment seem to be three key words that describe it for me.

One of the out-standing features will be the Guiness World Record attempt at biggest commitment ceremony
that will be held at the Carnival, on Sunday 15th February. The opening party will be held at Federation Square,
the most central meeting place in Melbourne on Friday 23rd January

It has not continued with the women’s music night, which is a bit disappointing, since it was very popular.
Instead it offers internationally acclaimed performers and another women’s dance party.

There’s so much to be excited about and participate in. I believe that there’s something to suit the interests
of most people. For the politically inclined, there’s the Pride March and after party in St.Kilda on Sunday February 1st.
For those on a budget, a lot of events are free or inexpensive. For the physically adventurous there’s a few
sporty things to keep you amused, and for the social addicts, there’s a few parties around town, and picnics
here and there. You don’t have to know who’s who, just turn up! You might even score a glass of champagne
at a launch, or rub shoulders with the girl/boy of your fantasies.

Know what to do and where to go with the Midsumma guide presumably available at Hares and Hyenas bookshop,
Queer Film and Video shop, and online at www.midsumma.org.au Make sure of times, and available tickets in advance.

Gorgeous Chick

Jelly cakes topped with fresh snakes,
Mousse and watermelon de-pipped,
Enormous dollops of cream that is whipped,
And spoons filled with icecream double-dipped,
May add up to a summer’s day that diet forsakes.
Blue pools in an eye that cools,
Warm shades of sun swept beaches,
Tongues fondle mango, pineapple and peaches,
A woman walks by showing her features,
Another buys her a drink and pulls up two stools.
Women choose sunglasses to match shoes,
Cloudless skies allow UV rays to radiate,
Un-tanned skin is a haven for them to penetrate,
Meanwhile a woman has moved to score a date,
And now doesn’t believe she was born to lose.
A body board glides over waves into shore,
Foam atops the two-metre high swells,
A stallholder persuades folks to see what he sells,
While their minds wander over wedding bells,
The stallholder is inadvertently ignored.
What’s worth a summer in the surf?
Glorious flavours of gelati melt on paths,
Near-naked bodies fill popular seaside baths,
In a cafe we hear a drunk lady as she laughs,
And of fertile women giving legal birth.

Hot Iranian

I wanted her wet pussy. I wanted to feel it with my hands and my tongue. I wanted to roll messily and sweatily
against her body and our lips to melt together with our warm tongues caressing. I wanted to feel the tingle
of her fingers on my back and the wetness of her kisses on my neck. I wanted her to pull me towards her and
want to fuck me. I wanted to feel her hands squeeze my arse cheeks as she pulled my pussy closer to hers.
I wanted her to spread my legs open and eat my cunt. I wanted her not to be able to get enough of me. I wanted
to search inside her pussy and lick it. I wanted her naked on the bed waiting for me. I wanted her standing up,
lying down, behind me, below me, on top of me, beside me, outside, inside, all over the house, all over.
I wanted her attention and her glances. I wanted to touch her, not only on the clit, but everywhere over her pussy,
her breasts and her body. I wanted to kiss the back of her neck. I wanted to kiss her nipples. I wanted to kiss
her mouth and suck while my tongue tangled with hers and caused tingling in our legs, our arses, our
breasts and our pussies. I wanted her to come closer. I wanted to see into her eyes and know if she desired
me as I had presumed. I wanted to look at her lips and dream of the movement of my lips with hers.
I wanted to look her up and down and check her out. I wanted to look at her tight arse and imagine sitting
naked behind her. I wanted to climb up to her bed and ask if she wanted to make love. I wanted something
to happen. I wanted to be not shy. I wanted to make moves to sleep with her. I wanted to have the guts to grab
her and kiss her. I wanted the nerve to flirt with her. I wanted to taste her flavour. I wanted to be alone with her.
I wanted to not be nervous. I wanted to know what to do when I was alone with her. I wanted for her to become mine.
I wanted her sex.

Cookies without the cutter

Affogato

INGREDIENTS

: coffee, water, icecream.

METHOD

: make an espresso/long black style coffee. Pour into a bowl. Allow it to cool down (or use icecubes).
Now get out the icecream and scoop a large ball. Place into the centre of the bowl. Allow to melt for a few minutes.
Now stir with a spoon and eat ‘til your heart’s content.

TIPS

: I usually add sugar to the coffee before cooling it, because it can be a little bit too bitter
for my tastes. You could also decorate it with chocolate or fruit on top. My favourite icecream to use for this caffeine
concoction is “Maltesers” in a tub. A bit expensive, but it’s what you pay these days for a yummy sensation.
Try it. It’s delicious!

Lesbiana - Movie Reviews

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Once again, another visual feast, with a storyline that keeps the viewer involved. Some things you think are
a little too unreal to pretend to believe, but all in all, another winner from the trilogy. Furthermore, some
surprising twists and a lot of character development ensures a gripping tale of fantastic imagination. I do not
recommend a Lord of the Rings marathon, as just one is enough for about a week of mystical reflection.
My preference is perhaps for the first one, but all three offer a spectacular, sensory journey.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Settling old story lines, and creating new ones is the aim of this second epic from the trilogy. More at a relaxed
pace, the script takes us from the forest to the verge of eternal separation. Trees come to life, as friendships and
alliances are forged in a battle against time and the dark forces. Gollum, with what seems like more than a split
personality dilemma, guides Frodo and his best friend, though continually tempted to murder the two hobbits
and take the ring.

Lord Of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
This is a brilliant, stunning, visually and aurally spectacular film. I got to see it in the best cinema that Village Crown
had to offer, and the sound was awesome. The cinematography speaks for itself. Apart from the special effects,
breathtaking scenery and captivating characters, the action-packed storyline is as exhilarating and as
humorous as you could hope for. A must for film-buffs who don’t mind 3hrs for just the first film of the series.

Tuxedo
Jennifer Love Hewitt has a bit of an appeal in any situation, none less so than starring alongside Jackie Chan
in Tuxedo. Simple storylines and plenty of action guarantee a pleasurable, funny movie experience.
Outstanding visual effects only enhance the entertainment.

Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
Some surprisingly intense issues arise in this sequel. The battle of the sexes takes a twist when Alex’s ex
is intent on destroying her. Though it is still another man who saves her life. We are shown towards the end,
that the three women, supposedly good at defending themselves, are unable to defeat men, but perhaps
one woman. Even then, the odds aren’t so convincing. It is more of a soft-centred comedy about the bonds
of friendship rather than a satisfying, powerful action movie with women as the starring heroes.

Anger Management
This movie is a little too slow, and the comedy really isn’t there for most of the 100+ minutes. Jack Nicholson
carries this film, and without him it would be a boring, dull exhibition about the failings of the human psyche.
Some of the issues, serious in nature, are dealt with as minor offences. The maturity level is very low.
At the end, we have a copycat (public), ego-boosting marriage proposal at a crowded baseball stadium.
All in all, it’s a disappointment, considering the individual talent of the actors.

Spirited Away
I haven’t really watched too many animated films with great enthusiasm, so it’s hard to compare to anything.
This comes from Japan, and has enough creatures to stimulate the imagination of kids big and small.
The storyline is a dramatic tale about a little girl. Yes, the hero is a little girl, who must fend off temptation,
undertake tests of character, and ultimately liberate her parents from a spell that has turned them into pigs.
Along the journey, she falls in love with a boy and has the courage to battle against time and enemies
in an attempt to save him.

Travelling birds
Unless you’re really enthusiastic about migratory birds, based on European and American locations,
I would suggest you give this a miss. It received acclaim because of its camera work, not it’s storyline.
Camerawork is quite spectacular, and the scenery is sometimes stunning, but it is rarely varied.
After an hour’s by a very predictable ending.sleep at half time, I diligently watched the rest of it,
which was just like the first half.

Swimming Upstream
Compared to Chariots of Fire and Billy Elliot, this movie promises to be an epic. Despite strong performances
and a tight script, it falls short of that kind of calibre movie. It’s based on a true story of two brothers, both good
at swimming. The father, played eloquently, turns the two formerly close boys against eachother, resenting
one and encouraging the other. The older brother, once a bully, happens to become a father-figure, when the
father turns to excessive drinking to ease his troubles, and gives potent advice to the resented brother. I did
find that the amusing character of the younger sister was more evident as a child than when she grew into an
older sister being a sidelines supporter. The youngest brother’s character was not even in the picture.
However, I think this film has some resounding truths for every family.

Gangs of New York
Brutal, unrelenting hatred and violence are the backbone of this film. It reminds us of the brutality of human
beings, even living in the same country. War is one example of the cruel betrayal of the human soul. We want
something, and we must have it, so we fight for it, mostly deceiving ourselves of the importance of life,
in favour of the importance of our will, which is often falsely regarded as absolute. Fine performances set up
what becomes an unforgiving landscape of bloodshed and bitterness.

Cold Mountain
This is another story of civil war, as seen through the eyes of women and the men around them. Often portrayed
as a romance, because of the female lead, this is much more than a simple story of love and romance.
It is not so much love, as a desperate longing to escape horror, despair and emptiness. The two characters
that become curiously interested, find eachother, but are separated by war. While she waits for him, she
has changed from a girl into a woman, with the help of her maid and friend. When he finds his way
back to her and his hometown, he has seen and contemplated a lot of life issues. They remain loyal to the
hope of finding eachother again. It’s the same thing as “Passing Glances” in the papers.
A lot of twists are betrayed by a very predictable ending
