Tom's Itinerary is below and it shows that he left from SFO for Saigon on Asiana (OZ) Airlines which flies via Seoul/Inchon Airport(ICN) to Ho Chi Minh(HCM) City's Tan Son Nhàt (TSN) Airport. The trip included a 12-hour layover in Seoul but Asiana put Tom up in the Hotel Entima and paid for all costs, including a meal. Like last year, Tom spent the holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years) in Vietnam. However, he celebrated New Years for the year 2002 twice, once on January 1st and again on February 12th, the first day of the three day TET Holiday.
Like last year, Tom expected to be able to get on the internet at the computer lab operated by Huynh Hieu, the Information Technology teacher at PTTH-Truong Dinh High School in Go Cong. However, Hieu had moved the internet connection to his home. Minh TOM worked on the establishment of a Vietnamese-American Association (VAA) Chapter in Go Cong which should help to improve Vietnam-USA relations and communication in English. In this regard, a speech was given by President Clinton before the Vietnam National University on 17 November 2000; see the Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement opn the Whitehouse Website.
