2004 Grant Guidelines

I.  MISSION

The Tri-Town Educational Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt foundation founded in 1986.  The purpose of the foundation is to raise money from the community to provide a source of funding to encourage the development of creative and innovative classroom programs for students of Boxford, Middleton and Topsfield.

II.  GUIDELINES

A. The ideal grant request will:
- provide for innovation and creativity within the classroom(s);
- be linked to the curriculum;
- serve a large number of students;
- have the potential for serving as a model for other teachers;
- have a “lifespan” of more than one year.

B.  The Foundation limits grants to a maximum of $3,000.  For initiatives that may require more funding, we encourage applicants to seek co-sponsorship with other funding sources.

C.  The Foundation does not fund grants which, in its judgment, should be part of the normal school budget.  Examples of requests not funded would include school field trips and school supplies.  Call your school liaison if unsure about the nature of your request.

D.  The Foundation normally only considers funding a project for one year.  Under extraordinary circumstances, we will consider a second year but will not fund a project for more than two years. We strongly encourage applicants to investigate other funding sources for subsequent years.

E.  Because we realize the need for training in this period of intense change in education, the Foundation will entertain a few grants for professional development.  However, such grants will reflect only a small percentage of total funding.  We will fund seminars or conference participation related to a grant but will not fund graduate level courses.

F.  Grant requests can only be submitted by teachers and administrators of Masconomet Middle/High Schools and the elementary schools of Boxford, Middleton and Topsfield.

G  The Foundation requires that grant recipients submit an evaluation of their grant upon completion.
