"Midwest U.S. meets Midlands U.K. "

Another amazing meeting this year behind me, with memories vivid in my head. My sweet friend Jon paid for bus fare to London Gatwick Airport from his hometown of Sheffield , Great Britain. That's a 5 hour jaunt. As you can see by the map above, he is in the middle of his country, as I am in the middle of mine. Next, he reserved a flight to arrive in Charlotte, NC, a 7 and a half hour flight. From there he would fly into Kansas City, a 2 and a half hour flight... into my awaiting arms for that anticipated hug. This was something we both counted down to for months.

You see, Jon and I met the unconventional way of the internet. Well, I shouldn't say that, as the net is becoming more and more commonplace for meetings. Still, knowing I had a sweet handsome man come to visit me from across the ocean was quite a rush! The days went by a bit fast, and before I knew it, I was hugging sweet Jon farewell. Following are some pictures that I will treasure, memories of a fun, fulfilling trip that will always put a smile on my face.

Here he is, Jon himself in front of our "meeting place" for the past several months. Amazing to think that tiny camera on my computer brought 2 similar souls together across the miles. Jon said it was like walking on the set of a movie. How true!

Kansas City is full of culture and such. Here Jon poses by a statue of Winston Churchill. I preplanned this stop before his arrival. A must touristy picture stop, if I do say so! Cheers!

Aww, What a nice surprise to wake up to. When I came downstairs to check my emails after a mid-afternoon nap, I found this pic awaiting me on my desktop. Jon snapped a pic of himself on my live cam site. That meant a lot.:)

I really love this pic. We were getting ready to head out to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art here in KC. We struck a pose as my friend snapped our picture. No need to say "CHEESE" in this picture, the smiles came naturally. ;-D

Our evening at the Station Casino with my good friends Roberta and Joel was a fruitful one for sweet Jon. He hit the jackpot, and got 1,000 quarters when he got 3 "sizzling sevens" in a row! I was so excited for him! Way to go, Jon!!!

So there are some of the highlights from Jon's journey to the United States. Cheers, my mate Jon! You are very special to me, a true British Prince!
