After graduating from Melbourne University, I studied for my Master1s
Degree with Professor David Galliver, at the Elder Conservatorium in
Adelaide. I won numerous competitions in Australia, including the
prestigious Quest, run by the A.B.C. and adjudicated by Dame Joan
Hammond. I continued my studies in London with Erich Vietheer, Paul
Hamburger and Mary Thomas. I also worked with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf,
Lucie Manén, Gerhardt Huesch and Geoffrey Parsons.
For over ten years, I sang professionally in Europe, and gave
recitals in Switzerland, Spain, France, Germany, Austria and the
Netherlands. I have participated in the Edinburgh and Adelaide
Festivals, and have performed the role of Miss Jessel (The Turn of the
Screw) at the Aldeburgh Festival. During this production, I was
fortunate to work with Sir Peter Pears. My professional operatic
repertoire includes Miss Jessel, The Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro),
Leonora (Fidelio), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Magda
(The Consul), a role that she I have studied in depth with the
composer, Gian Carlo Menotti.
Since returning to Australia in 1992, I have sung many oratorios,
including Carmina Burana, (with the Canberra Choral Society),
Brahms1 German Requiem, and Rossini1s Petite Messe Solenelle. I have
become well known as a recitalist and chamber music performer, and have
recently performed with David Pereira, Max McBride, John Luxton,
Christopher Lyndon Gee, Virginia Taylor and Ronald Woodcock. I have
a great love for German Lieder, and I record regularly for the
A.B.C.. I have recently settled in Sydney, and teach singing technique
and interpretation. In addition, I adjudicate singing competitions and
occasionally teach the Melbourne
Male Voice Welsh Choir. I now teach singing and are available for lessons, if you
would like to be taught please fill out my guest book below.
