Biographical Information
Italian MaestroEliano Mattiozzi-Petralia is known internationally for his leadership of Italian operatic repertoire as well as a wide ranging symphonic repertoire
He has served as Musical Director of Florence Sinfonietta, Principal Guest Conductor of the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra, Musical Director of the Accademia Internazionale di Arte e Spettacolo in Naples, Music Director of Nuova Orchestra Medicea Laurenziana in Florence, Music Director of Orchestra da camera di La Spezia, PRincipal Conductor of Collegium Musicum Armonia in Salerno and founder and Music Director of Complesso Cameristico di Firenze.
Presently he serves as the Musical Director of The South Pacific Symphony, which he founded. and Artistic Director of The New Zealand International Academy of Music and Arts Trust.
A grandson of the renowned Italian conductor Tito Petralia, Maestro Mattiozzi-Petralia trained under great musician including Annibale Gianuario, Bruno Campanella, Franco Ferrara, studied composition with Rodolfo Cicionesi, Carlo Prosperi and Adriano Guarnieri and Classical Guitar with Mario Gangi, before beginning his own esteemed conducting career.
He has led many of the world's fine ensembles, L'orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano, Orchestra da Camera di Bologna, Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, The Glinka Chapel Chorus and Orchestra in S. Petersburg, The Eugene Symphony Orchestra in USA, Randers Chamber Orchestra in Denmark, Auckland Philarmonia Orchestra in New Zealand....and more.
In New Zealand Maestro Mattiozzi-Petralia has Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" for the Mercury Theatre, "Le Nozze di Figaro" with the Auckland Metropolitan Opera, "La Traviata" for Opera Wanganui and several symphonic concerts. In the year 2000 He is going to conduct a productiona of Puccini's Madam Butterfly for Hawke's Bay Opera.
In October 1996 he has produced a CD with the South Pacific Symphony "Song of Passion" containing operatic selection with music by Mascagni, Bellini, Mozart, Donizetti, Delibes.
