Marcus Karl Maroney Marcus Maroney, M.M.A., M.M.: Yale University; B.M.: University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Maroney has studied with several preeminent American composers, including Ned Rorem, Joseph Schwantner, David Del Tredici, Joan Tower, Alvin Singleton, and Dan Welcher. As a fellow at the 1999 Tanglewood Music Center, he also studied with George Benjamin. His music has been heard in Orchestra Hall, Chicago, IL; Seiji Ozawa Hall, Tanglewood, MA; Woolsey Hall and Sprague Memorial Hall, New Haven, CT; the National Youth Orchestra Festival in Sarasota, FL; the MareMusica Festival, Ischia, Italy; Jessen Auditorium and Bates Recital Hall, Austin, TX; and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, OH, SUNY-Stoney Brook, Princeton University's Richardson Auditorium, Toronto, Norfolk, CT. "Introduction and Barrage" was commissioned for the 2003 Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and has been performed by Canada's Gryphon Trio internationally since. Marcus is currently working on commissions for the Orchestra of St. Luke's 2004-5 season and eighth blackbird's 2005-6 10th Anniversary season.Mr. Maroney has been awarded a Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, awards from ASCAP, consecutive Woods Chandler Memorial Prizes from Yale University, the First Hearing prize from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Music 2000 prize.Mr. Maroney has served on the faculty of the Yale School of Music.
