On July 6, 2001 I had the privilege of
performing
my lecture recital Liszt
and the Cross for
Greek
Orthodox Archbishop Demetrios as part of the silver anniversary
concert
of the National
Forum of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians. I also
performed
Victoria Bond's Potirion Sotiriu and Franck's glorious A Major Violin
Sonata
with good friend and fellow church musician Kevin
Lawrence.
The concert was held in the remarkable Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Denver. The Cathedral is another stunning example of the powerful use of traditional byzantine iconography.
