Barrett is the current New Zealand Junior Champion of Champions and has three New Zealand National titles. He has been a member of three National Youth Bands and is the current Principal Cornet of the Canterbury Youth Band. He is also a member of Woolston Brass, and is one of this countrys most promising young cornet talents. Barrett is also an accomplished trumpet player.
