Joahann Pachelbel was born in Nurnberg. He studied in Altdorf and Regensburg and later held posts as organist in Vienna, Stuttgart, and other cities. He then was appointed an organist at the St. Sebalduskirche in Nurnberg where he remained until his death in 1706.
