Paris and Marseille, France

Deep beneath Paris lies the catacombs. When they needed to build New Paris, the old graveyards were dug up and the bones were put underground in the catacombs. To conserve room, the bones were piled on top of each other. When the Nazis invaded Paris many citizens used the catacombs as a hiding place.

Another picture of the catacombs taken from a different tunnel. Only a small percentage of tunnels were open and many tunnels run all underneath Paris.

Another Catacomb picture

Totally bored, waiting for the Paris Subway, I placed my camera on the ground and left the shutter open, to see what I would get.
