CLIFT


James Newton Clift was born about 1805 in
Tennessee.  His wife, Mary (Polly) Brents was
born in 1806 in North Carolina.  She died December
25, 1860.  They were the parents of the following:


Margaret Clift, born in 1829 in Lincoln Co.,
Tennessee was married to John M. Parks on
July 16, 1856 in Lincoln Co., Tennessee.  She
died March 31, 1884.  They were the parents
of the following:



Georgia Ann  Parks, born September 16, 1857;
Thomas Moore Parks, born November 12, 1861;
Frances, born 1865; James Parks, born 1867;
William Hill Parks, born 1868;  Benjamin Parks,
born 1869;  



Albert Gibson Clift, born March 10, 1834 in
Tennessee and died November 25, 1915 in
Marshall Co., Tennessee.  He was married to
Mary Elizabeth West.  Albert served in the
Confederate Army.  They were the parents of
the following:  Mollie, P.E., N.D., William
Benjamin, born 1865 and C.B.




John Clift, born 1838.  He was married to Mary
Jane Hogan on February 5, 1867.    They were the
parents of the following:  John Oscar Clift, born
January 23, 1871;  Ada, born March 3, 1872;
William Arthur, born March 5, 1875.



Julia Caroline Clift, born May 3, 1839 in Mississippi
was married on July 26, 1859 to John Payne Endsley.
She died in 1927.  They were the parents of Mary
Jane (Mollie) Endsley who married eorge Washington
Jones Sullivan.  Further information can be found

Elizabeth Smith Clift, born August, 1840 in Lincoln
Co., Tennessee was married on September 21, 1858 to
William M. Summers.  William M. Summers , born
June, 1830 in Lincoln Co., Tennessee.  Their daughter
was Sallie A. Summers who married Lonzo Meadows.



William Polk Clift, born December 25, 1842 in
Tennessee, was married to Henrietta Paralee Wright,
December 3, 1868.  Henrietta P. Clift, born October
5, 1852 d. March 9, 1915.  Henrietta P. Wright was
a sister to Benjamin Luther Wright.  They were the
parents of the following: 1. John Rufe (Rufus?) Clift,
b. March 1, 1882 in Giles Co., Tennessee, d. August
11, 1936 in Marshall Co., Tennessee.  He was buied
in Mars Hill Cemetery.  His wife was Lucille Clark,
they were married January 11, 1911. 2. Bunyon Clift
b. 1886 d. 1941.  His wife was Maggie Woodward.
3. Turney Clift b. December 17, 1892.  He was married
to Issy Emerson.  4.  Nannie Clift b. 1871.  She was
married to John T. Park. 5. Buddie Clift. 6. Anna Clift
b. 1869.  7. Leona Clift b. 1873.  8.  Willie Clift b. 1877.
William Polk Clift, served in the Confederate Army
and was wounded.



Josephine Louisa Clift, born March 8, 1846 in
Tennessee,  She was married to William Franklin
Wright.  They had no children.  William Franklin
Wright was a Methodist minister.



Eliza Clift, born 1848.  No further information.



Sarah M. Clift, born 1850.  No further information.



Mary Jane Clift, born August 22, 1827 in Tennessee
and died November 19, 1882 in Tennessee.  She married
William N. Collins, November 5, 1845 in Lincoln Co.,
Tennessee.  They were the parents of the following:
1. Sarah Phoeve Collins, Born February 11, 1845.
2.  Elisha Collilns, born September 10, 1854.  3.  Robert
Bugg Collins born 1853.  4.  Thomas N. Collins, born
August 15, 1849.



James Newton Clift, born 1832 and was married to Jane
Barnes about 1861.  They had a daughter, Mary, born
about 1866.  His second wife was Martha Hoyney.
James served in the Confederate Army.



Thomas Clift was born 1831, he served in the Confederate
Army.  He was married to Parthena C. Swineboard,
February 20, 1855 in Lincoln Co., Tennessee.  He
died January 1, 1862 at Bowling Green, Kentucky.



Amanda Melvina Clift, born December 11, 1853 in
Lincoln Co., Tennessee.  She died February 6,
1934.  She was married on January 3, 1871 to
Benjamin Luther Wright.  They were the parents of
the following:  1.  Tippie Josephine Wright, born May
3, 1873.  2.  Julia Elizabeth, born March 17, 1876.
3.  Margarette Ella Wright, born February 4, 1878.
4.  Carrie Byrne, born January 15, 1884.  5.  James
Edgar Wright.  6.  Alonzo Dillion Wright.  7.  John
William Wright, born September 15, 1871.



Alonzo Dillion Wright m. Nettie Holley and they
had one son, James Benton.  James Benton Wright
married Maxie Katherine Holley and they had one
daughter Jewell Dean Wright.
