DUCKWORTH

It is believed that the first Duckworth
to come to America was John Duckworth.   He was married to
Ann Hopewell before 1685 in Burlington, N.J.
John Duckworth was born about 1660 and died
before 1699 in St. Marys Co., Maryland.  John
Duckworth came to America from England in 1684.
John and Ann were in New Hanover, Burlington
Co. New Jersey.  They were the parents of William
Duckworth , who was born before 1690 and died
in 1727.  He was married to Grace ___?__ and
their children were:  William, John and Joseph.



William Duckworth married Mary Wright, December
6, 1731 in Nottingham, Burlington Co. N.J.



John Duckworth married Sarah Hankins in
1734.  They were the parents of John, William
and Simon.



Joseph Duckworth married Esther Ong, June
1, 1737 in Nottingham, Burlington Co., N.J.
They are the ancestors of President Jimmy Carter.



John, son of John Duckworth and Sarah Hankins
was married to Violet__?__ and they were the
parents of the following children:

1829 in Bath Co., Ky.



Absalom Duckworth b? m circa 1790 in
Mecklenberg. Co., N.C. to Martha Peel.  Died
before 1830 in Caldwell Co., Ky.

soldier, b. circa 1760, married June 10, 1783
to Mary Carothers d. circa 1829 in Lincoln
Co., Tennessee



John Duckworth, Jr. b. before 1775 in Mecklenberg
N.C.  He married ? to Mary Hill



William Smith Duckworth b.? d?



Jonathan Duckworth b.?  d?



Alexander Duckworth b. circa 1785 in
Mecklenberg Co., N.C.  He married circa 1800
to Lavinia (Nina) Silvy d. circa 1812 in
Rutherford Co., N.C.



Ezekiel Duckworth b.? in Mecklenberg Co.,
N. C.  He married March 8, 1828 Lincoln Co.,
N.C. to Matilda (Matisha) Shelton.



Abel Hankins Duckworth and Mary Carothers
were the parents of the following:



William Duckworth b. circa 1786 in N.C. and
married September 13, 1808 Lincoln Co., N.C,
to Margaret Drake.



John Duckworth b. circa 1787 in N.C. was
married to Margaret A__?__



Samuel C. Duckworth b. January 16, 1795 in
Lincoln Co., N.C.  He was married to Eliza
Ann McMillen d. March 4,1868.



Abel Hankins Duckworth, Jr. b? d. August, 1834.



Alexander Padian (Red) Duckworth b. 1800 in
N.C.  He married Jane (Jensie J.) Hodge d.
May 20, 1867 in Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas



Sally Duckworth b. circa 1805 in N. C.



Samuel C. Duckworth and Eliza Ann McMillen
Duckworth were the parents of the following:



Elizabeth Ann, William Jasper, Amy Malissa,
Mary Jane, Abel Newton, Joseph McMillen,
Samuel Marion, Elendar Malina, John Houston,
Eliza Isabelle, Morgan Dekalb, Marcus Lafayette,
Lucy Malvina.



John Houston Duckworth married Louisa Ann
Finley on February 10, 1870 and they were
the parents of four sons, Otis, Thomas, Adolphus,
and Charles.



Adolphus Duckworth married Ella Nora Welch
December 25, 1895 and were the parents of
one daughter, Lucy Velna, who married John
Edgar Moore.  They were the parents of twin
sons Kenneth and Clyde Duckworth.



Clyde Duckworth married Eliabeth Leota
Richardson on November 16, 1930.  They were
the parents of one daughter, Wanda Bayne.
She married John Beasley Sullivan and they
were the parents of one daughter, Dana Yvonne.
Dana married Michael Ray Watson and has one
daughter, Stacy Nicole.  Dana and Watson
were divorced in 2000.



The name Duckworth might have been derived
from dyke warden, keeper of the dyke in 1066.
The Duclworth's came from Lancastershire, Co.,
England.  Maps show there were dykes in the
area.
