William Meadows, my great-grandfather, was born about 1826. His
parents are unknown. He died Friday, February 13, 1863. He was married
to Delila Chapman, daughter of Thomas Chapman and Mary Emmons
Chapman. Delila was born June 12, 1815 and died May 18, 1865. They
were the parents of the following:

1. John A. Meadows b. about 1848
2. Alpine Meadows b. about 1850
3. Edwin Allen Meadows b. March 18, 1851 d. December 12, 1921. He
was
married to Sarah Loutitia Rhodes Finley
4. Lonzo Meadows b. about 1856 He was married to Sally Summers
5. William Larmer Meadows b. about 1858 d. 1933. He was married to
Fanie
Humbles

William Meadows was a soldier in the Mexican War. He was mustered in
June 2, 1846 and was discharged September 6, 1846 on a surgical
certificate. He also served in the Civil War for one year. When he returned
home after his year, he was charged with desertion. When the officers came
for him he went to the upstairs of his log home and knocking the mud from
between the logs, fired on the officers, killing one of them. He was taken
away by the officers and taken to Camp Forrest, Tullahoma, Tennessee. He
was tried at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on December 1, 1862. He was found
innocent on all charges except the killing of the officer and sentenced to be
executed on Friday the 26th; however, the execution was not carried out on
that day "owing to the sickness of Private Wm. Meadows" and he was
executed on Friday, February 13, 1863. At sometime after he was taken
away, Delila was married to a Loftin and she died May 18, 1865. The sons
were taken to live with different families; hence, information on this family
is very scarce.

Edwin Allen Meadows, son of William and Delila, b. March 18, 1851 d.
December 21,1921, was married to Sarah Loutitia Rhodes Finley. She was
the daughter of Silas Allen Rhodes and Sally Luna. She was first married to
Cornelius Finley and had one daughter, Ada Matt. After Finley's death she
married E.A. Meadows and they were the parents of the following:

1. Sara Dillie Elizabeth Meadows b. April 15, 1874 d. June 15, 1935. She
was
married to James Isom Richardson on November 30, 1890.
2. Nola Pearl (Oda) Meadows b. March 26, 1876 d. December 22, 1948.
She
was married to Will Beasley.
3. Lelia Meadows b. August 4, 1879 d. August 8, 1896
4. Rosa Louella (Ella) Meadows b. August 30, 1881 d. 1958. She was
married to John Edwards
5. Daisy Estella (Esther) Meadows b. 1884 d.1951. She was married to
Edd
Edwards
6. Vance Arthur Meadows b. October 6, 1889 d. February 9, 1973. He
was
married to Minnie Koonce.

Sarah Dillie Elizabeth Meadows b. April 15, 1874 d. June 15, 1935 was
married to James Isom Richardson on November 30,1890. A list of their
