SULLIVAN

The earliest known of our family was Cornelius W.
Sullivan.  He was born in Cheatham Co., N.C. in
1793.   He was the son of Joseph Sullivan and Temperance Wicks. He was married in 1812 to Mary A. Gunter.
She was the daughter of William Gunter and Lucinda
Wales.  She was born in Cheatham Co., N. C. in 1794.

At some time this family was in Lincoln Co., Tennessee
where they raised a large family.
Their children were:



Thomas W. Sullivan went to Madison Co., Alabama



Lydia E. Sullivan b. August 13, 1816 d. June 16, 1898.
She was married October 4, 1831 to Allen B. Hedgepath
and on March 24, 1842 was married to William McAfee.



Ruth Sullivan b. circa 1818 and on March 5, 1840
was married to Richard West.



Isaac Sullivan.  No information.



Temperance Sullivan married James McCormick
and went to Illinois.



Newton Cannon Sullivan b. August 17, 1823 d.
November 6, 1900.  He was married on March 20
1851 to Margaret Mauldin.



Berry Newton Sullivan b. January 1, 1824 d. October
23, 1911.  He was married on October 18, 1849 to
Emily Marr.




Carney Sullivan b. April 6, 1826 d. 1856.  Went to
Illinois.



Elizabeth Sullivan b. February 9. 1828 d. September
10, 1903.  She was married first to James West and
on January 21, 1851 was married to Benjamin
Nerrin.



Mary L. Sullivan b. 1832 and was married November
5, 1850 to Harris Newton Mauldin.



Cincinnati Frances Sullivan b. June 28, 1835 and
married on October 31, 1851 to William Petty.  They
were the parents of 13, cxhildren and lived near
Belfast, Marshall Co., Tennessee



Newton Cannon Sullivan b. August 17, 1823 d.
November 6, 1900 was the sixth child of Cornelius
W. Sullivan and Phoebe Hodge Sullivan.  He was
Married March 20, 1851 to Margaret Mauldin.
She was the daughter of Harris Mauldin and Julia
Ann Brents Mauldin.  She was born January 26, 1836
and d. January 30, 1900.  They were the parents
of the following:



Harris H. Sullivan b. October 27, 1852 d. September
8, 1872.  He was first married on October 14, 1917
to Jane M. Toole and second he married Elizabeth
Owens on October 12, 1876.



Mary E. Sullivan was married to James A. Briscoe
and lived in Alabama.



George Washington Jones Sullivan b. May 7, 1859
d. August 6, 1941.  He was first married to Mary
Jane (Molly) Endsley, daughter of John Payne
Endsley and Julia Clift Endsley.  After Molly's death
he was married to Ida Abernathy.



Susan D. Sullivan was married to Shielly Gunter.



Newton Cannon Sullivan was married to Nannie
Curry.



Julia F. Sullivan was married to James Barns.



Alva H. Sullivan b. December 12, 1867 d. January
14, 1937.  Never married.



Sarah M. Sullivan.  No information.



Octavia A. Sullivan b. March 27, 1872 d. August
19, 1898.  She was married to Robert Collins.



Cornelius Boneparte Sullivan was married to
Laura Eddins.



Willie B. Sullivan was first married to D. G. Menefee
and second to Mace Barns.



George Washington Jones Sullivan and first wife,
Molly, were the aprents of two children.  They were:



John Endsley Sullivan b. June 14, 1887 d. February
12, 1944.  He was married on November 29, 1908 to
Lessie Elna Sowell, daughter of William Henry
Sowell and Rose Ann Elizabeth Tate Sowell.



Frances Josephine Sullivan (Fannie Jose) Sullivan
b. June 2, 1891 d. November 28, 1978.  She was
married to William Loyd Sowell, son of William
Henry Sowell and Rose Ann Elizabeth Tate Sowell.



John Endsley Sullivan b. June 14, 1887 d. February
12, 1944 and Lessie Elna Sowell Sullivan b. July 9,
1892 d. June 27, 1964, were the parents of six children.
They were:



Elna Erlene Sullivan b. September 6, 1910 d.
April 11, 1977.  Never married.



Floyd Johnston Sullivan b. July 5, 1915 d.
December 12, 1921.



Son b. April 16, 1913 D. May 32, 1913



George Lester Sullivan b. January 12, 1922 d. July
20, 2002.  He married on December 21, 1940 to
Sara Virginia Crabtree b. July 21, 1921 d. December
21, 1996.  They were the parents of four children.
They were:



Franklin Lavan Sullivan b. November 27, 1941
He had two children, Daphne Sullivan b. June
6, 1965 and  Franklin Lavan Sullivan, Jr. b.
December 3, 1967



Donald Lynn Sullivan b. August 28, 1943.  He
married Ann Harris.  They have two children,
Carol Adrienne Sullivan b. November 7, 1972
and John Adam Sullivan b. February 5, 1974.



Linda Joyce Sullivan b. November 19, 1948.  She
married James Dale Smith.  They have one son,
Tony Smith.



Brenda Gail Sullivan b. March 31, 1952.  She
Charles Woodard.  They have two daughters, Joy, b.
August 12, 1970 and Cindy b. October 12, 1973.



John Beasley Sullivan b. January 9, 1929.  He married
June 27, 1952 to Wanda Bayne Duckworth.   He died September 9,2005. They have
one daughter, Dana Yvonne.  She was married to
Michael Ray Watson  and had one daughter, Stacy
Nicole.



Charles Melvin Sullivan, b. January 11, 1933.  He
married Mary Frances Patterson.  They were the
parents of seven children.  They were:
