Basically Over The Road

This was fun delivering 14,000 pounds of floor tiles to a construction
project about 40 miles west of Jackson, Mississippi.

Interstate 40, westbound, Arizona. About 40 miles east of Flagstaff.

A view area off Interstate 70, Utah.

An Oklahoma ice storm.

Interstate 15 in California.
This is the last hill before entering Nevada,
Primm is the first Nevada town, and Jean is in the distance.

Highway 95, northbound. Beginning the decent to Laughlin, Nevada.

Can't see?

The two pictures above were taken on Highway 163, Utah.

One of the stepping off places of the world,
you lose it here and you're in a world of hurt!

Highway 60, deep in the Superstition Mountains.
I go this way when I have a light load and a little extra time to get there.

Baker, California.
Home of the largest thermometer in the world.

Hurricane disaster relief trucks.

Believe it or not, they stuffed the trailer with garbage in Connecticut to take to a landfill in Ohio.
Here, they dump the trailer by lifting it from a rack.

Just after leaving the toll gate, stepping onto the George Washington bridge.
This is the way I'm familiar with, getting in and out of NYC.

Crossing the George Washington bridge, looking south.

And now you are in New York!
(DA BRONX!) Perhaps Broadway.

Crossing the bridge to Rikers Island.
I have a load of razor wire to deliver to the prison.

From Rikers Island, looking back to Manhattan.

After entering the prison, I was directed to a holding area
to wait for the construction crew to escort me.
As I was waiting in the holding area, I took this picture of my pass.

Following the construction crew to the place where they will
unload my razor wire.

Could this be the highest natural point in New York?
While they unloaded the razor wire, I climbed this hill
to have a look around.

From the hill, looking back to Manhattan Island.
See the bridge to Rikers Island.

From the hill, looking at LaGuardia.

Escape From New York!
West bound on the George Washinton Bridge.

I wonder why?
Oh well, I've never been one to follow the rules.

RULES! RULES! RULES!

I was cruising in a southwesterly direction through Kansas,
when I saw this interesting storm in the distance.

As I rounded this curve, I was seriously considering not driving into it,
but finding a place to pull off.

Should I pull into that gas station ahead?

The moment I drove into this, the air became charged.
I heard sounds like sparks inside the cab, and some of the panel
lights were flickering. The visibility was poor and the wind was buffeting the truck.
I wished I had a little more weight in the trailer, but got through ok.
Next time I'll get off the road and wait it out.
