“THE GOLDEN GREEK” ALEX ARION

A native of Manchester, NH, the "Golden Greek" was born on September 28th, 1977.  Arion is one of NECW's premier aerialists.  The wrestling bug bit him early.  "I wanted to be a wrestler ever since I was 5 years old when I first watched it on TV.  I was attracted to the action, the drama, and the big crowds.  The attraction never faded but grew stronger."

Like many fans, a Wrestlemania moment sticks out in his mind.  "My favorite memory was Wrestlemania 6.  The Hulk Hogan vs. Ultimate Warrior main event was great.  My friends and I had a party and there were more than a dozen of us squeezed into my friend's tiny living room.  We were divided as to who we wanted to win the match, and I remember the rush of adrenaline I had when the match was over and my favorite won."

Arion took his lumps at Bodyslammers Wrestling Gym in Lima, Ohio where he was trained by Al Snow from October '96-January '97.  When he returned home he continued training with Steve Bradley who is currently under a developmental contract with the WWF.  Alex's first pro match was against Bradley and he came out on the short end of the stick in New Bedford, MA in August of '98.

Though only a pro for a little over 2 years,  Alex has toured Puerto Rico and mentions that as one of his highlights in his brief career.  "Working for Victor Quinones and Savio Vega in Puerto Rico for the IWA was a lot of fun and a tremendous learning experience.  As was working for Randy Hales and Power Pro Wrestling.  I shared an apartment with Steve Bradley and Kurt Angle and again had a lot of fun and learned a great deal.  That was my first experience working on a live TV wrestling program.  The southern fans were great and they were really into the wrestling."

Alex's passion for the business is shown when asked what he would change about it if he could.  "I wouldn't change a thing.  I love the wrestling business and am happy to be part of it."

His thoughts on NECW, "I love working for Sheldon and Scott.  The best talent in the area is on the shows and Sheldon is dedicated to putting out the best product possible.  I see NECW gradually growing and building its fan base and what better way to do that than with top notch talent and shows!"
