Survive the Village: Part II
From: MisterFurious | Posted: 9/16/2004 6:07:50 AM | Message Detail
*Clang* With that sound, my heart sank even lower than it had already been. "Wooden doors reinforced with steel? This place is gonna be our tomb..."

Hating myself for what I just said, I realize that, in times like these, one must maintain composure if there is any chance of survival. "Ok, it's obvious we need to get outta here, and fast. GSMY, what is your plan to get the **** out? I'm going to head upstairs and find Tidus, because if we are to open that door at all, we will need his shotgun."

With that, I wipe the sleep from my eyes, and head upstairs, looking for Tidus. I find him in Room 003, asleep on the bed. "No rest for the weary..." I say as I call him to attention.

"Tidus, sorry to wake you, but we need your help. If you come downstairs and assist us in blasting those four creatures, then I will go with you to the forest."

What the hell did I just say??? What was I thinking?? The forest??? 'Hey, desparate times call for desparate measures, and he is the one with the shotgun...' I think to myself.

He pulls himself up from the bed, and I await his response. "Come on, man, the sun will be rising soon, and we need to get out before those things bust in....."

SN was awakened from his dream to find Nate had started to explain some plan to the rest of the guys...Even having the Info SN had, it really couldn't help make the situation any less scary... true, the Judge could be disabled before it opened fire, but that would blow SN's cover...

'Gotta get alone...' He thought to himself, but was alone really what he wanted? The RE3s couldn't be controlled - they'd still be a threat...and what if the Trio had -

"No." SN whispered out loud...

What if the Trio had changed the Judge's safety word? They had enough time - SN had been breifed at 06:00, and got to the village around 20:00... more than enough time to re-program the Judge... but SN was just getting worried over nothing - why would they change it? There's no reason to...

'Unless they're on to you.' He thought to himself...A lot of unexpected stuff was happening to him, almost as if it's being orchestrated to keep him away from the facility...Think! Think Dammit!

SN was thinking quietly while Nate was going over some half-baked plan, and he could only come up with one explanation. Trent. The man who worked up at UMB USA branch, where SN had been breifed...and the other Trent, the one at the Village...could they be the same man?

"Oh...F-" SN stopped himself as he realised he was speaking out loud again. It was obvious now. It had all gone horribly wrong, and SN was screwed.

'Come on prodigy boy - make a plan! It looks like Nates about done talking!' SN was desperatly screaming at himself. All he could think of was to work with the Researchers...he still knew the release codes for the RE3s at least - and the Trio couldn't change them, and the same goes for the Wavelength Puzzle - the Trio couldn't change the solution... Maybe the mission could still be salvaged...though with the Judge against him instead of with him, it would be a lot harder...

"OK guys. Good Plan, and I think we should go with it." SN was amazed at how truthful it sounded! He carried on - "Of course, the Seismic Lance in the facility will have to wait..." SN couldn't help but smile a little - in all honesty, the Seismic Lance didn't exist. SN had come up with it in about 2 seconds at the Inn. There was however some Rail Cannon style device, called a Paracelsus Sword, but SN didn't know too much about that... Well, this'll have to do...work with them till I get to the Facility, steal the Omega Virus, get to the private sub out back...piece. of. cake.

The crazy, no sense-making dream concluded, I shot up, startled. Sitting now, I shook the cowebs from the corners of my mind yet again. My forearm wiped the sweat that had accumulated on my brow.

Ow. My head hurt a little. That’s right. I freaking FELL. I had to be the worst guard ever. I rubbed the sore spot. It was a minor annoyance, that was all. I rubbed my tired eyes as well. The dream had been SO weird… I could only remember fragments, but I did get a feeling of incredible unease and dread from it.

And I knew it wasn’t a dream of me and Jill, so that pissed me off.

How long had I been out? Wasn’t sure. No watch, so I glanced about for a wall clock that had possibly been spared. I shrugged, looked at my hands. They tingled.

My knuckles had gone white while I’d dozed, clenched ever-so-tightly around the Sams. Good thing I’d had the safeties on. I Holstered the empty one (no point having it drawn with no ammo).

Oh, yeah. I’m still sitting. I grabbed onto a chair and struggled to my feet. Still a little out of it. Couldn’t have been down too long, but that dream, from what I remembered, felt quite long, indeed.

Luckily, none of my companions had been harmed during my brief stint as carpet. I was so relieved. Next time I was on guard duty, I’d do it right, damn it.

Hey, what the? What happened to that Spray I’d found a little while ago? "Hey... Didn't I have a First-Aid Spray when I...um...fell asleep...?" I asked. A general question, not directed to any one man.

"I... Used it." Nate admitted, not wanting to lie, "On myself where I was bitten, but I used the majority of it on Steve's wound. I didn't want all of work to heal his wound go to waste if he turned..."

I frowned for just a second, still waking up, but I grinned, shrugged, and nodded. "I guess that was the most useful thing to do with the spray... No worries..."

It really was no big deal at all. I’d clearly needed the sleep, so it was good that Nate hadn’t woken me. And he openly admitted to using it, which was more than I could say to Troy. But I would. Nate’s honesty here prodded me to tell Troy sooner.

As soon as we got back to the Inn.

And anyway, I would’ve let them use it. We had to work together, after all. I knew the fear and uncertainly, the increasing itchiness that came with being infected. They may not even have been, but why take needless chances?

"Come on yoga boy, we've got to come up with a plan to get out this hell hole... The Judge could be back at any moment."

And unlike my dream, I doubted very much that I’d be able to go Neo on his ass.

In the OR, I had to wake Natus and TJ to explain what we had to do. I took a deep breath, and began…

"Alright. This is it. We have to move...now. Troy can handle himself just fine on those crutches, as we've seen..."

"Yeah. You guys don't have to worry about me. I can do just fine with these two pieces of wood." Troy agreed.

I nodded. "Good. That leaves Steve as the only problem. Quite honestly... We don't know when or even IF he's going to wake up. If TJ and Nate can help carry Steve, myself and Natus can provide cover fire should anything go wrong... But we have to get back to the Inn. Hopefully when we get there, everyone will still be alive... Maybe they've found out some way to get out of here... And they should be happy to hear about Steve." I concluded.

And once we got there, I’d have to explain to the rest of the researchers that we should pool our ammo, and divvy it up evenly. I had 6 bullets. 6. That was it. I knew some of them had way more handgun ammo.

"What do we tell them... about Key...?" Nate wanted to know.

"Should we tell them anything?" Natus trails off, "Why not just tell them that he went off alone?"

"You mean lie to them?" Nate snaps, "I won't do that. No. I'm going to stand by this decision... They have a right to know..."

"Then we'll just tell them exactly what happened... The Judge caught him in cold blood... What we don't have to tell them was Key's rebellion before he died. He deserves that much..." I paused in thought, "But we're getting ahead of ourselves... We have to make it back to the Inn first... So... Who's ready to get out of this blood soaked mortuary?"

It was true about Key. We’d tell them everything. We had no reason to try and hide that information. We’d done nothing wrong. Well, not really. I had, in retrospect. But I couldn’t blame myself for him any longer. It was his choice to leave.

"Well now. What are we waiting for? I say, let's get the hell out of here!" Troy sounded like he had some confidence about this. A good omen? I hoped so. I didn’t know how well my 6 shots and Seynour’s 2 could protect us, and I’d do my guarding properly this time. If I ran out of shots, I still had Stabby and Shocky. I’d do whatever it took.

We were getting back to the Inn. Our unofficial base camp, as it were.

"The Judge is out there..." Natus warned.

I shrugged. We’d be no safer from the Judge out there than in here, as the recent events demonstrated quite well. "Yeah… But the Judge was also in here... I'm willing to take my chances... You coming?"

I prayed they would. At any rate, I could go on and clear the path ahead while they pondered what they thought was best. Flicking off the safety on my Sam, I went out back outside.

It’d been a while. We’d been in that hospital for some time. Swinging my gun, held in both hands, wherever my eyes went, I was ready to fire if it were a monster, or the Judge. Of course, of we did encounter him, we were as good as dead.

Natus’ and my pitifully low ammo wouldn’t injure him at all. But the Inn wasn’t far away. We could make it. We WOULD make it! With the Sam in my left, and Mr. Stabby now ready in my right, I was good to go.

Hahahaha MF your funny a shotgun would be wasting ammo, first thing is first either wake up CC or steal her crossbow and lighter. Next, one of us has to go down to the basement and get all the containers of gasoline and bring them up here. Once all that happens I can perpare my plan.

*After being woken up by MF I get up.*

*I walk into the bathroom. I turn on the sinks faucet and splash cold water onto my face.*

"Alright, MF you were saying?"

*Mf tells me he needs my help to clear out the front door's zombie infestation. He bribes me by saying he will come to the forest with me.*

*I agree. I follow him downstairs and we are greeted by GSMY. GSMY says he doesn't need my shotgun.*

"Ok. Fine."

*I listen to GSMY's plan. I walk down stairs and move around listening to know if I step in the gasoline or not. I step in the gasoline.*

"That idiot he already spilled it all when he bumped into the container."

Well there is this concept with grenades where you can can use them from a distance. You know like moving a certain distance away so when one is tossed it won't hurt the person who used it.

The plan is simple we get as much gas as we can. Drop some on the window zombies then use a notebook page light it on fire and drop it on the zombies. Next the zombies at the door we take the remaining gas and throw it at the zombies. Then using CC's crossbow we tie a piece of paper around an arrow and then light the arrow and fire. No problems and important ammo isn't wasted.

the problem with that is that Jim is a crimson zombie. We won't be able to toss gas and shoot a flaming arrow at him if we open the door.

I think the grenade idea is the best considering the zombies are beginning to break the door down anyway. It should definitely kill the three regular zombies and at the least hurt jim to a point where it won't take a lot of gun fire to finish him off. Either that or open the door and have MF, Az, and Tidus just start blasting. But that's just what I think will work the best.

NOTE TO FF: I will be clearing the ENTIRE path from the Hospital to the Inn. Alone, if that is the case. And if those zombies and such are still out there, I will fight with them.

After all, in-game me doesn't know they're there, but I already planned to clear the path, so I'll just have to deal with it.

This is Nate, and I don't feel like RPing at the moment. I promise I will make a semi-decent RPing post at some point, but now is not the time. I'll just lay out a game plan...

1.) Scavenge the entrance hall; take whatever is of interest.
2.) With the help of TJ, him and I will take Steve back to the inn.
3.) If I survive to meet up again with the others, I will try to convince them to, at some point in the near future, go to the towers, as I have a strong feeling this "LT:E" key of mine will be of some use there.
4.) Use "fubar" in a sentence.
From: FFDragon | Posted: 9/16/2004 10:32:40 PM | Message Detail
Sorry Nate, but you were two and a half hours late... The Hospital will have to be returned to anyway, so you'll have to pick up the entrance hall items then... Yes, I said there would never be an attack in the Welcoming Room of the Inn... And there never will be... Unless you invite the damn thing in!! *tips hat* G'Day good sirs (and ma'am).

The Inn- Everyone is getting frustrated with their current situation... They were boxed in... By not only reinforced steel, but by flesh seeking Bio Organic Weapons. Some people were trying to come up with any kind of working plan, while others shirked any kind of responsibility whatsoever... It was getting harder and harder to function as a coherent group... With NES' failure to cut through the Room 002 door, morale had reached an all new low... If they didn't get out of here... and soon... they may never get out...

"Wooden doors reinforced with steel? This place is gonna be our tomb..." MF groaned, and the others silently agreed, "Ok, it's obvious we need to get outta here, and fast. GSMY, what is your plan to get the **** out? I'm going to head upstairs and find Tidus, because if we are to open that door at all, we will need his shotgun."

AZ could not believe the sounds that just escaped MF's lips... Need Tidus' help? Pshaw... AZ would rather die with honor, then ask for Tidus' assistance... MF gives a half smile to the crew and heads up the stairs, past the now silent reptilian corpse of Charlie Green... MF shudders and then checks Room 004, before finding Tidus asleep in Room 003... face down on his shotgun in the bed. MF groans at this sight, but heads up to Tidus and shakes him by the shoulder.

"No rest for the weary..." MF says in Tidus' ear as he shakes him

Tidus sits up with a start and places the barrel of his shotgun right underneath MF's chin. MF ducks back and kneels on the ground, while Tidus refocuses on reality... When he realizes that he almost took off MF's head, all he does is snicker under his breath. He rubs the sleep out of his eyes, and places his feet on the floor. MF mutters something inaudible under his breath before putting on a smile and standing back up.

"Tidus, sorry to wake you, but we need your help. If you come downstairs and assist us in blasting those four creatures, then I will go with you to the forest." MF beams from ear to ear, a facade of course, but they needed Tidus' help

MF couldn't believe what he just agreed to... Joining Tidus... in the forest?! Did he have a deathwish?! Ugh... Tidus grins at MF and heads out of Room 003 and down the end of the hall, to the bathroom. He splashes some water on his face to wake him up more thoroughly, before turning back to MF and returning his goofy grin.

"So, you'll go to the forest with me if I help everyone get out of the Inn? Sounds good to me... I agree." Tidus checks his shotgun and rests it on his right shoulder.

"Then come on, man, the sun will be rising soon, and we need to get out before those things bust in..." MF beckons

Tidus nods and follows MF back down the hall and down the stairs to the welcoming room, where GSMY is going off on a tirade... He pauses momentarily to watch MF return with the arrogant, boomstick wielding Tidus... GSMY just shakes his head and laughs...

"Heh heh heh... MF you are a funny one... Using a shotgun would simply be wasting ammo..." He starts with a slight cackle, "But first thing is first. We either have to wake up CC or steal her crossbow and lighter. Next, one of us has to go down to the basement and get all the containers of gasoline and bring them up here. Once all that happens I can perpare my plan."

MF is furious. "What the hell are you talking about?! When did I ever say that there were gasoline containers down there?!"

GSMY stumbles... "But... your pants..."

"Yeah... I fell in gasoline... But I NEVER felt a container. I don't even think that there is a container down there. I think someone just doused the place in gasoline... I mean, it's possible that I did knock one over... but the gasoline was everywhere down there. I was the only one who stayed down there long enough... It's dark as hell in the basement, so even if there were containers: A) You wouldn't be able to see them and B) If you DID manage to brush across a container, you wouldn't even know if it has gasoline in it... I personally believe the basement is a trap... or someone was trying to get of something down there... So your plan, as appealing as it sounds... FAILS!" MF was uncharacteristically angry. Perhaps the stress was getting to him...

"I had just assumed... because you were covered in gasoline that there were containers of it down there..." GSMY tried to defend himself in a very reserved tone

"Go have fun hunting for something that doesn't exist then..." MF snorted

"Alright. We get it MF... GSMY's plan doesn't quite work out. Then what should we do, smart one?" AZ directed his question to MF in theory, but it was open to anyone

"It's obvious you asshats don't want my help. I mean, I only have the most powerful weapon here. Not that that means anything to you AZ lovers." Tidus snaps, quite maliciously, while AZ shoots him a glare

But then, out of the corner of the room, lj breaks his silence... "You know... This would be a perfect time to put one of NES grenades to use..."

So simple... Yet so effective... Why had it taken so long for someone to even mention it? AZ and GSMY were left speechless, and MF smiled... It's excllence was in it's simplicity... But then again... It was very dangerous as well... Having become the center of the new plan, NES starts to become quite hostile...

"It's only 4 ZOMBIES! Why would I use up one of my grenades on them?! Plus, to top it all off, the blast would probably kill us all! Some plan..." NES grimmaces at the thought of the explosion...

Being his idea, lj assumes responsibilty for elaborating on the plan. NES' ineptness in explosives is astounding, and lj feels that it is necessary to correct his ignorance. "Well there is this concept with grenades where you can can use them from a distance. You know, like moving a certain distance away so when one is tossed it won't hurt the person who used it. It's quite lovely actually. As a matter of fact, that is the basic concept of a grenade. Pull pin, throw, duck and cover. Very simple NES."

GSMY refuses to back down from his inital plan. "My plan is just as simple. We get as much gas as we can, if not from containers then from the ground itself. Then we just drop some on the window zombies, then we take a notebook page, light it on fire and drop it on the zombies. Next, for the zombies at the door we take the remaining gas and throw it at the zombies. Then using CC's crossbow we tie a piece of paper around an arrow and then light the arrow and fire. No problems and more importantly ammo isn't wasted..." GSMY smiles at his infallible plan.

lj on the other hand, scowls at the utter foolishness of the plan. "The problem with that is that Jim is a crimson zombie. We won't be able to toss gas and shoot a flaming arrow at him if we open the door. He's faster, stronger, and has a mean set of claws... It just WON'T work..."

"Are you listening?! We throw the gas with the door open and shoot the arrow through a closed door." GSMY yells at lj

lj jumps to his feet and gets into GSMY's face.

"Are you even paying attention?! The doors are all steel reinforced!! You'll never, EVVVVVVVVVER, get an arrow through a steel door! NES couldn't get an axe through it! Plus, Jim will charge at the person who's throwing the gas. Give it up GSMY. You lose!"

Tidus is doubled over with laughter... But he manages to stand back up to deliver a classic one-liner "Finish Him!"

"If thats the case then we'll shoot him if he gets in. Haven't you noticed nothing happens here in the main room? Attack wise... And I'm not so sure that the main doors are steel reinforced..." GSMY is losing ground

"I think the grenade idea is the best considering the zombies are beginning to bow the door in anyway. It should definitely kill the three regular zombies and at the least hurt Jim to a point where it won't take a lot of gun fire to finish him off. Either that or open the door and have MF, AZ, and Tidus just start blasting. But that's just what I think will work the best. Your plan GSMY, is suicide wrapped in a brightly colored package..." lj says this so forcefully that GSMY is left without a response

Tidus glances between lj and GSMY before walking over to lj and raising his hand in victory.

"Fatality! Flawless... Victory..." Tidus continues to be a walking metaphor

As much as AZ hates the man, he cracks a smile at Tidus' joke, as does MF and lj... Even NES grins... GSMY on the other hand, isn't very happy at all...

"Fine. Whatever..." GSMY heads over to the couch and sits down, defeated...

NES heads into the center of the room, holding a grenade in his right hand, looking into the faces of everyone in the room...

"I'm ready... And I'll throw it." NES tells them, "But I need someone to open the door, while everyone else gets back..."

The room is silent... But then lj steps forward...

"It's my plan... So I'll open the door..." lj chokes out, and he walks over to the bowing door without so much as another word... However, when he gets to the door, he turns to readdress the crowd, "We can use the reception counter for cover. AZ grab CC and place her behind there. Everyone else get back... We have no clue how this is going to turn out..."

AZ nods and throws a blanket over the almost comatose CC, before carrying her behind the reception counter. He places her down and tries to make it so she will experience the least of the shock and sound of the impending explosion. Tidus, MF, and AZ all set up behind the counter, with their guns poised on top of the marble... ready for anything... Although Tidus despised this 'team,' he was going to have to co-operate to get out of here... GSMY finally trudges behind the counter and kneels over CC to protect her... He still wasn't too happy with this idea...

"Ready?" lj asks the crew behind the counter

"Ees game time..." AZ responds

"Ready?" lj asks NES

The only answer he gets is NES pulling out the pin... He holds in the button and takes a deep breath... NES releases the button and counts in his head... One. Jim crashes against the door, and lets out a sickening snarl.... Two. The three other zombies join in on the pounding... Three. lj places his hand on the door handle... Four.........

"NOW!!" NES screams as he throws the grenade towards the double doors... NES scrambles back behind the counter

lj throws open the left door, and is thrown back as Jim crashes against the wood, swinging it open completely. lj skids across the floor towards the Game Room... Five. lj reaches up and opens the game room door, using it as a makeshift shelter. Jim snarls as the grenade flies past him and rolls just outside the door, to his companions... Six.... Everyone takes a deep breath...

Boom

The Explosion rocks the area outside of the Inn, dismembering Jim's companions with severe ease... The resulting fireball rushes in through the open left door, catching Jim from behind and sending him sprawling forward, head first into the front of the marble counter. Sharpnel comes flying in as well, impaling several couches and the door to the Game Room... lj barely escapes with his life... The others are forced to duck behind the counter in order to dodge the speeding shrapnel... Chared body parts are strewn both on the inside and the outside of the Inn's door... The blast was just that powerful... Yet, the door's themselves are unphased, except for the cracking and burning of the outer layer of wood... The doors were blast proof... lj had been correct. The grenade had done the trick... lj steps out from behind the Game Room door and shuts it behind him. Just then though, the still functioning corpse of Jim, which had escaped the main blast, rises to it's feet again and looks right into the eyes of lj... With a throaty growl, Jim charges at lj with it's claws raised... With little to defend himself with, and no way outrun the charging Jim, lj could only pray that Jim was weakened enough by the initial blast... Or his life ends... Now. But in complete honesty, it's not Jim charging at him that has him scared... It's the sound that he hears some distance away coming in from the open Inn door...

"JUDGMENT!!!!!"

Hospital- Tur had proposed his plan... That was all he could do... If they didn't want to follow him, they didn't have to... Either way... He was going to clear a path to the Inn... Even if it cost him his life. Outwardly, Tur tried to put on the bravado facade, the gung-ho do anything attitude... But secretly, he prayed they would all come with him... It'd been a while since they had come to the Hospital, and it had gotten darker since then... It was going to be a tad difficult to find their way back, plus there was no telling what could be out there right now... Tur twirled his guns around, and wherever his eyes went, he was ready to fire if it were a monster, or even the Judge. Although he knew it would be a futile effort, and they would all be dead. Reassuring thinking to it's finest, of course. But then Tur snapped out of his depressed train of thought, and shook away any ill feelings... The Inn wasn’t far away. They could make it. They WOULD make it! With the Sam in his left hand, and Mr. Stabby now ready in his right, Tur was good to go. Natus was in a whole other world, and Tur noticed it... He was mummbling something, but Tur couldn't pick out any specific words... It was... quite odd. But then, almost as if he had been shocked, Natus' head snapped back up and he smile at Tur and Nate.

"OK guys. Good Plan, and I think we should go with it." Natus' demeanor looked almost faked... and that was unsettling to Tur, "Of course, the Seismic Lance in the facility will have to wait..." Natus was acting too weird...

"...I'll do it..." TJ whispered, almost too quietly... He was obviously nervous about trouncing around in the darkness of the T-Dragon riddled Village...

"Hell, if you guys don't get into gear soon, I'm going alone." Troy is already doing circles on his crutches...

"Well Nate?" Tur asks him, "Everyone else is coming... How about yourself?"

Nate... simply does not respond... But then he comes back into some sense of reality, and rubs his forehead... Staying here alone would mean certain death. At least by going back to the Inn, there was a chance to meet up with the others...

"Yeah... Ok, let's go..." Nate agrees

Nate heads over to Steve's side and TJ soon follows. Steve's wound was almost completely healed over, which brought a smile to Nate's face. Very carefully, the two men slide Steve off of the operating table and each sling one of Steve's arms over their shoulder. Steve groans... a sign that he might be coming around. Troy taps his left crutch against the wall, and then pushes open the OR Door.

"Come on, come on, come on... This place is going to become very unsafe, very quickly..." Troy spoke in a hurry

"How do you know?" Tur asked with a piqued interest

"You can't hear that? Trust me on this one..." Troy is starting to get antsy

Tur stops for a moment and rasies his SE... Natus comes over and raises his Magnum, while Nate and TJ bring Steve over to the door. Tur raises his finger to his mouth to quiet everyone. Troy is starting to get very... VERY... agitated... All of a sudden, Tur picks up a low moan... He hadn't heard in 30 seconds earlier... How did Troy hear that? It was of no matter now... He was right, and they had to get out of there... With Troy holding the door open, Tur headed into the doorway for one final briefing...

"I'll stay up front to clear the path. Troy, Nate, and TJ stay in the middle so that you'll be the safest. Natus, you take the back and make sure nothing ambushes us... Cool?" Tur prays for a string of yeses. He almost gets that, as everyone but Troy nods. Troy just grins and takes the lead of the group. He takes off on his crutches and is half way down the entrance hall before Tur even registers what is going on...

"Hey! Troy, god dammit! Wait up!" Tur is filled with a mixed sense of anger and worry

The rest of the group has to jog a little to catch up to Troy... Not a small task for Nate and TJ, as they are practically dragging Steve. But everyone, including Troy, pauses for a moment as they reach Key's corpse. Everyone bows their head, even if for just a moment, to give Key their last respects. When that is complete, Tur steps past the body and takes the lead of the group. He opens the hospital door, and is met face to face with a reanimated corpse. It lunges at Tur, and he falls backwards to avoid a bite. He lands right next to body of Key... Tur rolls out of the way, and catches a glimpse of Troy, who has leaned up against a nearby wall in order to reach down to his right pant leg. He slides it up and unholsters a six shot .357 Magnum, which he promptly aims at the nearby zombie, and then pulls the trigger without hesitation... The zombie's head practically explodes upon impact, sending pieces of cranium spewing in every direction. Luckily, none of the pieces end up anywhere near the researchers... Troy reholsters his magnun on his ankle, and then pushes off of the wall with his back, so that he can start walking again. Tur gets back to his feet, and stares at Troy with a bewildered look...

"You had ANOTHER gun?!" Tur screams, "When the hell were you going to inform us about this?!"

Troy just grins. "When I was forced to use it. That just happened to be about 2 minutes ago... Don't look too surprised. I've been suriving here a few more days then you Tur... Did you expect me to be underarmed? Look. I'm injured, yes. But, I refuse to let you take my last line of defense. I just saved your ass... Be thankful I was willing to waste one of my six shots on you..."

Touche... Troy makes a good argument...

"Why can't you just let me hold your gun for now?" Natus questions, "All I have is a two shot..."

"Awwww... At least you have two shots..." Troy says, before crutching over the bodies and heading out of the hospital door. Natus sighs and Tur is still in awe of this Troy character. Nate is speechless as well... They have no choice but to follow... Heading out into the darkness, the see Troy waiting for them. Low moans fill the night sky, and they seem to be coming from everywhere. Tur takes the lead and starts out very slowly... Natus tails the group... ready for anything... They make it half way back to the Inn with little incident... But then, the inevitable happens. Coming down from the mansion area, the silhouette of the Judge streaks across the night sky, blocking most of the moon light that had been filtering down... The entire group is struck with an intense pang of fear... Off in the distance, they could barely make out the lights of the Inn... Could they make it there if they ran? Would they be able to make it with Steve as dead weight? Would Troy be able to move fast enough...? Tur's mind was flooded with so many thoughts that he nearly passed out from the sudden rush, but he restrained himself. Passing out now would be death...

"Why... Why god, why?" Tur whispered

"Ugh... It hurts..." Steve's voice was cracked and dry from being unconscious for so long

"God..." Nate sighs, "We are going to get fubared... Aren't we...?"

The happiness of Steve's recovery is all but destroyed as they watch the Judge's shadow take a step towards them... raising his gattling gun... Nate's question had been answered...

"JUDGMENT!!!!!"

GSMY respones quickly drawing his knife and shovel and runs behind the charging Crimson Jim. He takes a slash at Jim's neck first with the Knife and then a slam over the head with the shovel. LJ responding to the attack he takes his crowbar and hits Jim over the head. With a slowly delayed Jim, GSMY and LJ take shots at him Knife, Crowbar, Shovel, Knife, Crowbar, Shovel, Knife, Crowbar, Shovel.

Both are panting. I think he is dead LJ but just incase.... LJ sits on Jim's back while GSMY carves off Jim's head with the knife.

"Open fire!" With that, I open fire on Jim, hoping that my comrades are doing the same. Through the sound of the firefight, I do hear one sound that is different from the rest....

"JUDGEMENT!"

Once the monster is finally dead, I scream out "LJ, SHUT THE DOOR!" After he kicks it shut, I survey my fellow researchers. "Is everyone alright?" Not waiting for their response, I say again. "Ok, we have to move, like now. That thing is out there, and I am sure that he knows we are here. I think we need to get out, like now. The sun is almost up, so Tidus, I will keep my word and head to the forest with you. But after that, I want to go check out the area on the map with no name."

The puzzled looks I receive, I cannot tell if they are for me actually following Tidus to the forest, or that I actually want to head to the abandoned prison. "Think about it. What place, other than the research center, would be fortified stronger than the prison? And you know there would probably be a weapons cache as well, NES..."

Once we are all settled, I take out the bar office key from my pocket, and put it in the ITEM BOX. "This will be safer here. Hopefully we will get to use it soon...."

"Tidus, whenever you are ready, we need to high tail it to the forest."

"Actually, MF let me see that RT:E key for a second. I think it belongs to the Right Tower: Elavator. That thing has gun turrets. If we can get in there quickly we can use the gun turrets on the Judge. There's no way he can survive that many shots to the face. What do you say?"

*I look at AZ. I walk up to him.*

"AZ let's work together to kill that damn thing. How about it? We've been listening to you all this time and look where it got us. Take my advice for once. Let's kill that thing."

My face was set. I appeared confident. Was I? Not entirely. About as much as I could be in this crazy situation. Definitely worried. But I looked ready to rip the Judge apart. My college acting teacher would have been proud.

I glanced outside. Pitch black, almost. I had no idea what time it was, still. Damn it. I’d blast anything in our way, but against the Judge…a total waste of ammo. One burst did jack. 2 certainly would fell him. And then I’d end up like Key…

But we had to try. For if we did not, we’d already failed. I would not resign myself. We’d get back. I knew it. I readied Sam in the left, and Stabby in my right. It was the best set-up.

What was up with Natus? He seemed to be acted very peculiar. Startled suddenly, he looked at Nate and I with a smile.

"OK guys. Good Plan, and I think we should go with it."

Something wasn’t right, again. As well as I could act and lie, I could spot one just as easily. He wasn’t lying, but he was definitely hiding something.

"Of course, the Seismic Lance in the facility will have to wait..."

I wasn’t entirely sure the facility even HAD this…thing…Seymour was talking about. How was he so sure? I frowned, becoming nervous. Could we trust him? He always seemed to know too much about the monsters and what not. Way more than the rest of us.

"...I'll do it..." TJ whispered, almost too quietly... It cut my thoughts in half, and I looked over. Good. He was joining us.

"Hell, if you guys don't get into gear soon, I'm going alone." Troy said boast-like, tooling around on his crutches. He was pretty speedy on those things. Things seemed to finally be looking up.

"Well, Nate?" I asked him, "Everyone else is coming... How about yourself?"

It took him a moment to respond. He was lost in his own little world temporarily. But he, at last, spoke. "Yeah... Ok, let's go..."

Good. Thank god. Everyone was coming. Our party was as strong as it could be. We’d make it. I grew more confident, the bravado shrinking. Nate and TJ moved to Steve. He was looking so much better. Almost completely fine. But…still unconscious.

But hold on! As soon as Nate and TJ moved him off the table, he groaned. Would he wake up now, or soon? I hoped so.

Troy opened the OR door, a worried expression over his face. "Come on, come on, come on... This place is going to become very unsafe, very quickly..."

I raised an eyebrow yet again. "How do you know?" I hated being on the outs when it came to info. He sounded like he knew something. Something we didn’t. Agh.

Troy squawked, "You can't hear that? Trust me on this one..."

Hear WHAT?? No. Nothing. Maybe he was just hearing things. I dunno. But just to be safe, I brought up Sam. I smirked as Seymour joined me with his own gun. As Nate had earlier, I sent a finger to my lips to inform the others to stay silent.

There it was!! Troy wasn’t hearing things! A moan! A god damned zombie! Another one! Why the hell didn’t I hear it before?? Either Troy had hella good hearing, or I was too caught up in my thoughts to notice it.

Whatever. Not important. Had to get past it. I spoke one last time, lowly. "I'll stay up front to clear the path. Troy, Nate, and TJ stay in the middle so that you'll be the safest. Natus, you take the back and make sure nothing ambushes us... Cool?"

Agreement came from all around. Apparently, Troy was too antsy to wait any longer. He shot down the hall, surprisingly fast for a wounded man.

I hurried after him. "Hey! Troy, god damn it! Wait up!" Was he crazy? Unarmed, on crutches, trying to take point when anything could jump out at any time? We had to move as a group, since we all WERE going.

I roll aside, and spot a leaning Troy go for his pant leg, and produce a THIRD gun. A rather brutal-looking magnum. He is not hesitant at all to blow the damn thing’s head clean away. I’d rolled like hell, and was a good distance away from its re-corpse.

On my feet, I was shocked, and a little pissed at Troy again. "You had ANOTHER gun?! When the hell were you going to inform us about this?!"

Grinning like a goof, as always, Troy stated, "When I was forced to use it. That just happened to be about 2 minutes ago... Don't look too surprised. I've been surviving here a few more days then you, Tur... Seymour and I are over to him soon, but the others are slow to catch us, with Steve it isn’t shocking why. We all halt at Key. One last goodbye…

That was that. I was taking point, and opened to door to the outside, into…

AW, ****!!! Why, me?!?! I had to have to worst luck EVER!!! ****!!!!! It threw itself at me with astonishing vigor, and I fell, with equal bite-avoiding vigor. Quick reflexes, or lucky clumsiness depending on whom you ask, saved me for being chewed on AGAIN.

Did you expect me to be under armed? Look. I'm injured, yes. But, I refuse to let you take my last line of defense. I just saved your ass... Be thankful I was willing to waste one of my six shots on you..."

I wasn’t planning on taking the magnum. Was he THAT mistrusting to say that out of the blue? I suppose he had a right, after what his friends had done, and me as well…

Though he knew not about that.

"Why can't you just let me hold your gun for now? All I have is a two shot..." Natus suggested. It wasn’t a bad idea at all. If Troy had to take a few seconds to draw that magnum each time, we’d be in trouble.

"Awwww... At least you have two shots..." Troy commented, unsympathetically. Damn. I didn’t bother arguing with him. I suppose it was only fair if he held onto his last gun (hell, unless he had more hidden), but I still thought we’d be safer with Seymour holding the magnum.

Whatever.

Hey! Troy was again going on ahead! Jeez, wait up! I rushed outside after him and stepped into the lead. Natus only had 2 shots, and Troy wouldn’t be able to get to his gun so well. It was on me to take point.

The eerie moans of the undead were carried on the chilly night winds, and I shuddered. Because it was kind of cold, or because of the moans, I did not know.

“Let’s take it slow,” I whispered. “Nice and easy…”

Natus had our butts covered, and he and I sandwiched the rest. I thought it was a good formation. Everything was going just dandy. Everyone had come, Steve was certain to recover, we’d not been attacked on our voyage back to the Inn…

Things were indeed finally looking up. Was my luck changing?

No. No, it was not. The fates must think it’s pretty damn funny to do things like this. Because there was the Judge. God. Damn it.

I took a step back, nervously. The Inn…could we get there? No way. A few of us might if we abandoned the others. I seriously doubted Troy could make it, fast as he may have been on those crutches.

And Steve, not a chance.

Could we take him? He still had the damned chain gun. I had 2 bursts, Natus had 2 BULLETS, and Troy had 5, unless he used some before we met him. Wasn’t gonna be enough…

He’d come from the mansion. Karter was siccing his mutt on us again. The bastard…

What if I made a diversion? Got the Judge’s attention so the others could get to the Inn? Could I outrun him? I was a good sprinter, but this thing…I didn’t know.

Whoa, feeling a little light-headed. ****. Now is not a good time for that kind of crap. I shook it off.

"Why... Why, god, why?" I said, barely audible.

"Ugh... It hurts..." Steve's voice was cracked and dry from being unconscious for so long.

He was coming to! Maybe he could dash for the Inn after all.

"God..." Nate sighs, "We are going to get fubared... Aren't we...?"

The happiness of Steve's recovery is all but destroyed as they watch the Judge's shadow take a step towards them... raising his gatling gun... Nate's question had been answered...

"JUDGMENT!!!!!"

“Fubarred? Not yet,” I muttered. It wasn’t over until we were dead. We weren’t. We still had a chance. It looked like an explosion had happened outside the Inn. What the hell?

****. I guess it was martyr time. “Guys,” I said solemnly, “I…” It was hard to say. “I’ll draw Judge’s fire…get to the Inn. Get Steve and Troy in there. Make sure everyone inside is safe…”

Would my days on the track team pay off? Could I outrun the Judge, and his gun? Could I stay alive? I was about to find out…

Nate listened intently to Tur's plan. It was a logical plan, he'd give him that. They did not have enough combined firepower to lock down the hospital themselves and hold it until the others came looking for them (like Nate had told them to), so it would make the most sense to head back to where everybody else, hopefully, still was.

Seymour's spouted some random gibberish, which Nate hardly even heard (he was in his own little world at the moment, considering the plan Tur had proposed) much less comprehended it. A couple others said something, which he payed no mind. When he heard his name, he snapped out of his trance.

"Yeah... okay... let's go."

Shaking his head in frustration - he couldn't think of any alternative or addition to Tur's plan - Nate headed over to Steve's side, preparing to help him to the inn. He gently lifted his shirt and was pleased to see that his wound was healing quickly. Those herbs were a miracle! Why weren't they on the market? *Shrugs*

Nate and TJ each get one of Steve's sides, slipping one of his arms around their shoulders. Steve groaned as they carefully lifted him off the operating table; a sign of life!

"Come on, come on, come on... This place is going to become very unsafe, very quickly..." said Troy in a hurried, agitated tone.

What was the hurry? Had to be something, though. Nate glanced sideways at TJ to judge his reaction to this foreboding instruction. Not pleased by what he decided was a look of fear and apprehension on TJ's face, he realized that he himself was beyond scared, even though he had not even considered his own feelings in the last few minutes. Yes, he was scared... very scared... and an aluminum bat wasn't going to protect him against the various hostiles he had seen so far. But he had friends... and hopefully they would remain such.

"How do you know?" Tur questioned, glancing around for what could have possibly disturbed Troy so.

"You can't hear that? Trust me on this one..." Troy retorted, beginning to shift his weight uneasily on his crutches.

This last comment put Nate even more on edge, and realized that he was completely defenseless with one arm around Steve, and most of his attention devoted to keeping him upright. Quickly glancing around, though hearing nothing, he began to hurry towards the door with Steve in tow. He didn't want to stay here a minute longer. Troy mentioned for them to keep quiet. What the hell did he hear? Why could Troy hear it and he couldn't?

Suddenly, a low moan became audible to the entire group. Startled, Nate's eyes began to dance around the room, trying to discover the source of the noise. Tur made his way through the door, and Nate pulled Steve and TJ hurriedly through. As he passed Troy, who was holding the door, he thanked him by nodding his head as they passed.

"I'll stay up front to clear the path. Troy, Nate, and TJ stay in the middle so that you'll be the safest. Natus, you take the back and make sure nothing ambushes us... Cool?" said Tur.

Okay! Alright! Just shut up and let's move out! Well, Troy was going out in front anyway. Nate thought this curious, but didn't consider it too long. Steve was his main priority at the moment.

"Hey! Troy, god dammit! Wait up!" blurts Tur, hurrying after the disabled Troy.

Nearly dragging Steve to keep up, Nate, along with TJ, try to maintain a safe following distance. What was Troy doing?! That overconfident fool!

They soon reached the door to the outside. The corpse of Key was there to bid them farewell. A sense of remorse rattled Nate, but he quickly recovered and quietly complimented Key on some aspect he had found commendable in the little time he'd known him... whatever that might be.

With this out of the way, Nate reached down and took the steel pipe from his cold, dead fingers. It was disgusting to have to do it, but he had no further need for it. He tossed it to Seymour, all the while supporting Steve. He told TJ to hold Steve for just a minute while he checked the rest of Key's body for anything important. Taking out his wallet, Nate flipped through the pictures. This was very emotional, as pictures of the deceased's family and friends were in here. They seemed like nice people. He felt infinitely sorry for their loss, and told himself he would do all he could to comfort them once he escaped. Death was not an option in this place. He would survive.

Nate took the $100 out of the wallet and asked whether it would be alright if he hang on to it. He promised he would lend them money if it was for something reasonable. After pocketing this, he passed the pictures of Key and his family around. This was an emotional few minutes.

After this brief period of homage and reflection, they begin to head out. The moans were becoming disconcerting. The sight that greeted them as the doors were flung open was not too reassuring either, as a walking dead lunged at Tur, who was leading the group.

After a brief tussle, in which Tur narrowly avoided another bite, Troy revealed a third sidearm and decapitated the rotting creature, and Nate has stood in shock, supporting Steve, and looking on in helplessness.

The obvious questions as to Troy's possession of a third firearm and his explanation followed. Natus asked to be allowed to use it in exchange for his Derringer, but was politely snubbed. Having nothing to say, as he was still in shock, Nate followed Troy and the others as they began their trek back to the inn.

Low-pitched moans filled the night sky. Nate had thought it had just been inside the hospital; that the dead from the morgue were somehow rising, but this obviously was not the case. His eyes took several seconds to adjust to the difference in light outside, and once they had, they were in constant motion. In a paranoid state, Nate constantly scanned their surroundings for any sign of danger, even as the moans of homicidal reanimated corpses drowned out the swaying of the trees in the ghastly chilly breezy. The cold did not bother him much, as he was so pumped full of adrenaline absolute zero would not have ceased his motion.

Surprisingly, nothing attacked for some time. Nate slowly began to feel more and more safe in the cradling defense of Tur, Seymour, and Troy's firepower. If that hulking beast attacked, though...

But then, the inevitable happens. Coming down from the mansion area, the silhouette of the Judge streaks across the night sky, blocking most of the moon light that had been filtering down...

How the hell had it just flown over them?! Nate had to catch himself before he wet his drawers. Trying to follow the movement of the enormous shadow across the night sky, Nate began to pick up his pace towards the inn. It wasn't far away, and with Steve in tow and only a bat for a weapon, they could do nothing in a battle against this creature. The thought of abandoning Steve never even crossed his mind.

Tur muttered something incomprehensible, and Steve moaned in complaint of his long struggle to stay upright.

"Fubar," Nate whispered. This was indeed ****ed up beyond all reason.

"JUDGEMENT!"

Cringing as the words rattled him to the soul, Nate looked around at his companions. Noticing that Tur had positioned himself between the monster and the rest of the group, he quickly deduced what his plan must be... he could think of nothing else, though. The survival of himself, Steve, and TJ may indeed be more important than Tur's life, alone. What was Nate thinking?! Why would he think that?! This place was really getting to him.

"Tur!" Nate yelled, more as an instinctive reaction to his assumptions than out of a real need to gain his attention. Mind racing, Nate began to move more quickly towards the inn. Staring down the barrel of a gatling gun was not comforting, and he wanted to move out of its line of fire.

"Don't get yourself killed!" was all Nate could think of to yell before breaking into what could be called a three-person sprint; more of a series of trips, shuffles, obscentities and glances back over the shoulder. Nate felt bad about just leaving Tur and the others to their martyrdom, but he had no way of helping. It was better that they get their dead weight out of their and into a safe zone. Hopefully make the others sacrifice meaningful.

"I really hope the others know what they're doing," Nate said between pants of exhaustion. He looked up from his feet, stumbled, then focused on the front door of the inn. Suddenly, the front door was thrown open, and a second later, a violent explosion rocked the entire inn and the area around it, briefly illuminating the shadows of three soon-after disembodied figures.

Oh... my... Nate sincerely hoped those hadn't been some of his companions, his fellow researchers... his friends. They tried to pick up their speed, but only stumbled even more. Soon after, a great deal of commotion could be seen occuring through the windows of the inn.

Having no idea what was happening behind them - whether the Judge was following them, if the others had engaged it, if Troy or anybody else was following them - they made their way blindly towards the inn. Somebody was still in there, and it had to be safer than what was behind them...

GamePlan:

1.) Go into inn, unless called back or otherwise compelled to return to the confrontation we are trying to leave behind.

2.) Lay Steve down.

3.) Insist that we all go back to help Tur, Troy and Natus against the Judge.

>>The points beyond this are assuming we end up in a safe place after battling the Judge<<

4.) Greet the others and explain to them what all went down at the hospital. Then ask what has happened since we left.

5.) Question Steve as to what he knows about the Village.

6.) Propose that we go either to the hospital to use Tidus' key and videotape or the towers to use our RT and LT keys.
