Chase the Ace/Spider/Snake!

This game is basically a version of Old Maid, used to practice plurals. You need a set of flash cards (any lexical set) made up of pairs of each item. For example: A set of animal pairs. Take out one card from the pack (e.g. the spider card), leaving X no's of pairs and the 'Old Maid' card (spider), deal out the cards and then students take turns at taking a card from the person next to them and discarding any pairs ("two lions.....two mice....etc.") The main aim is to get rid of all your cards and avoid ending up with the 'Old Maid' at the end. Once they have mastered the idea, you should try to play this at a fast pace, and ask them to guess who has the Old Maid while they're waiting for their turn.
