Florida Railroads
ALABAMA AND GULF COAST
This railroad is one of the newest railroads in the state. It was formed in 1997 when the BNSF sold the old Frisco line out of southern Alabama to the city of Pensacola. There was never a lot of traffic on the line, BNSF only ran about one train a day.  The BNSF line was unused for several years due to a bridge being washed out north of Penascola. BNSF was detouring through on the nearby CSX line.

When the A&GC purchased the line they were in the process of rebuilding the washout and restoring service to the line.

The other two head southward. One heads toward Tampa via Ocala. The other heads for Orlando to Lakeland and Tampa. A line splits off and heads southward to Miami and ends in Homestead Florida, just north of the keys. There are also numerous branch lines and secondary lines, especially  between Orlando and Tampa. The CSX HQ and most of the dispatching is located in Jacksonville.

FLORIDA EAST COAST
The Florida East Coast Railway is one of the oldest transportation companies in the state and has undergone the least amount of change over recent years. .FEC once ran to Key West, but now runs from Jacksonville to Miami. 24 trains a day run along the FEC. The railway runs through St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, Titusville. Melbourne, Vero Beach, Stuart, and on to West Palm Beach and Miami.
The road still mostly uses GP 40-2;s and -3's and GP-38-2's on the roster. Lately the FEC has been aquiring a large number of  ex Union Pacific SD40-2's.These seem to be finding their way onto the road freights.  The fleet of GP9's are now gone outside of one.
Traffic is mostly intermodal, autos and limerock.
