PunkDrummer711@aol.com First off, can you tell us your real name?: *looks at you with steady eyes* No. *smiles slightly* Do you have a nickname? If so, how'd you get it?: Aisling. *gaze unchanging* It means "vision" in Gaelic. *smiles again* I'm sure you can figure out why I chose to call myself that. *heard the word and its meaning used in conversation and memorized it* *now uses it as her name, disregarding the one given her at the orphanage* Do you know your age? Birthday?: *tilts her head to the side* I'm really not too sure about that one. *licks her lips as she thinks* I'd like to say that I'm seventeen, or close to it. *shrugs* As for my birthday... How about November 23? As good a day as any, I suppose. Can you describe your looks?: *smiles* I think you'd be a better judge of them than I am. *has been blind since birth* *has light brown eyes that change to represent her moods and feelings (ie. cloud over when she is upset, shine when she is excited, etc., etc.)* *has chin length reddish blonde hair with bangs* *is short, about 5'0 with a small build* What's your personality like?: Most people seem uncomfortable around me, for obvious reasons. *sighs* I try to be friendly... *Aisling has grown used to independence, as she has basically been taking care of herself since she was a child. She has always been somewhat of an introvert, shy, and usually keeping things to herself. She is working on this, however, hoping that getting a fresh start at Bay Ridge may allow her to finally open herself up. She is intelligent, a quick learner, teaching herself since childhood. She has developed a sense of humor to cover her feelings. Also, she is compassionate toward others, especially if they are treated differently or ridiculed.* Got any friends?: Not really. I've always kept to myself a little bit... *quickly* Not that I wouldn't like to have any friends. I've just never really had the opportunity. *thinks: "More like no one has ever given me a chance before."* What about a significant other?: *laughs softly* No, none to speak of. *finds the thought of anyone liking her quite humorous* Any family?: *smile fades* Somewhere... What was your past like?: I've been blind since I was born. It was too much for my parents to handle, I suppose. I wasn't a few weeks old before they *cheerily sarcastic* found a lovely orphanage that would be willing to take me off their hands for them. *thinks for a moment* What was it the caretakers told me about that? *as if she has just remembered, even though she knows perfectly well what they said to her* Oh, yes, that's right... My parents didn't want me because I was "defective." *nods* Yes, I believe that's the word they used. "Defective." That's why I stayed in the orphanage for so long. "Mommies and Daddies don't want to adopt children who are 'defective.'" *shrugs, being serious again* I got out of that place a few weeks ago. Living on the streets was...*pauses* all right... I'd listen to the newsies call out headlines during the day. It kept me informed with things that were going on. The more I thought about it, the more I thought that selling papers might be something I could do. I asked around a little bit, and found myself here. Anything else you want to say about yourself?: *shakes her head* |
