overview |
After the
Stewartry League disbanded, the three members joined with the seven other top
sides in the Dumfries & Galloway region to form the Southern Counties
League. Of the original ten, both Moffat and Vale of Dryfe resigned before
the season started, while Thornhill pulled out in the October. Because they
hadn't played any games so far, the committee elected Dumfries Hibernian as
replacements. However the league suffered another blow when 6th Galloway
Rifle Volunteers also resigned. By the turn of the year the competition was
seen as nothing more than a side attraction, and by the end of the season it
was decided not to revive the league for the following season. |
