Who we are

Who are we? Basically, just regular folks who think that the news served up to us on TV and in the papers is usually not the full story.

One example - when twenty or thirty people a day were getting blown up in Bosnia, the TV stations loved it. They kept showing us blood and guts. But for the last two and a half months the people of Serbia have been taking to the streets in tens of thousands every day, unafraid of the brutal police. This is one of the most amazing examples of successful people's power, and so for most of the time, the TV stations have ignored it. Are viewers really more interested in seeing blood and guts than successful people power?

We hope to publish a weekly magazine with news from Ireland and around the world, guide to the best of Dublin events and hopefully a classifieds section (They're not in today, but we'll be updating daily.) It'll be a while before everything is up and running, but we will be devoting raw commitment to the task - much better than the cooked stuff!

If you go on the Internet, suddenly you have access to current information from several sources as to what's going on, no matter where it is; rainforest destruction in Brazil, planning corruption in Ireland, the secret war on the Kurds of Turkey. This may not seem much, but the more people find out about what's really going on the more they want to change things.

And the best thing about the Internet is that it's almost free. So people are making connections and organzing campaigns to make this world a better place. If you have a story that needs to be told, we'd be delighted to. If you have a cause that is being ignored by the mainstream media, tell us about it.

Thanks for visiting - and stay tuned. Things are gonna get better...
