CHAPTER EIGHT

I'm Back:

They fed me Raspberry yogurt and a doughnut on the flight down to Las Vegas. They're twisted.

Friday morning down to Phoenix. Visit with a few friends. My mom's doing good. How's your mom? But now it's time to drive.

It was really great ... I drove the rest of the trip with my friend 'Lizabeth. We cruised through the AZ desert singing to Jr rock wanna be's like 'Nsync and Ricky Martin. We lied to the veggie police at the California border ... We really did have plants. Then onto the infinite Los Angeles metro area ... over the hills to the Napa Valley ... That's where it got interesting. I took a wrong turn, so we back tracked to find that we were on the wrong road... by the time we got it right it was 6:30 at night. We hadn't eaten dinner... it was about 10001°. You get the picture … it wasn't pretty. So we made the best of it... we cruised through the Napa Valley singing (the radio sucked in the rental) and making fun of the cows... they stinked. I showed 'Lizabeth how to do the Airplane hand thing out the car window. She didn't know how (deprived childhood). You know where you stick your hand out flat like the wing of a plane and then change the angle slightly and your hand moves ... watch any Volkswagon commercial if you don't know what I mean. We went on to Sacramento and found a Hotel .. A Comfort Suites... The next morning we slept in until around 9:00, then we went to Hard Rock Café ... We bought some food and some gifts and got a free calendar ... we were on our way … back on the road ... up through Redding and some other cities and so forth until the Shasta Lake area .... lot's of pictures here … onward to Roseburg OR. We spent the night in a shoddy Best Western which should have been call a So-So Western, maybe a Good Western but not a Best Western. The next day, Monday, we only had about 3 1/2 hours of driving and we got to Portland about on time. Fed 'Liz' cat ... I visited for a few minutes and then I went home myself.

Today my work will reshape the world we live in ...
I'm not afraid ... Are you ?
