Marathon woes

Well as many of you know I have been signed up for the Lincoln Marathon
since the middle of February. When we returned from our honeymoon I hit
the road hard to try to make up for lost time. I was not doing too bad and
10 days ago I ran 21 miles!!! This past Saturday the weather was absolutely
beautiful so I decided to go for a LEISURELY jog around Memorial Park. I
felt great when I came home but Sunday morning I was having difficulty
straightening my right leg. I have pulled one of my quadriceps
muscles, there are three that compose the large muscle group, and I am very
tender on the medial aspect of my right leg above my knee. The pain is not
in the joint capsule, and I do not remember hearing anything pop or
snap....I sound like a commercial for a box of Rice Krispies. Anyhow, I
feel better with ice and rest, so my Marathon will definately have to be a
half or maybe not at all. I just don't want to be plagued with injury
this summer....there are too many trails to explore, I would be devastated
if I were to riun my summmer with a bum leg just to say "I ran a marathon."
This is still hard, though, I have trained and I KNOW I can do it. I just
don't want to actually tear a ligament on mile 18 and not be able to walk
for three months!! Many of you can understand my dilemma. At any rate, I
will just have to wait and see. My physician intuition will hopefully
override my type A personality and feelings of wasted training. One must
roll with the punches, I guess.....

Post Wedding Bliss...

Well, two weeks removed from paradise and life has changed quite a bit. Between post wedding and work parties, Jenny's graduation, our wedding reception and the move on May 23, we haven't had and won't have much time to relax and enjoy ourselves. Jenny is going about 50mph faster than her normal speed of 100mph -- trying to fit as much stuff into a day as she can. It's under a month until our move to SLC so I've got to try and keep pace with her in my tortoise like fashion. Hopefully that old story about the tortoise and the hare is true. I can't wait until July when everything should start to slooooooooow doooooooooown.

Easter Weekend

Hello all
Dave and I had an exciting weekend enjoying the beautiful "Spring" game in
Lincoln. I guess April showers do bring May Flowers but it was darn cold
at Memorial Stadium. Amazingly, 30,000 plus people showed up to see what
Frankie has planned for next year. Dave says the Huskers get a big fat "C"
for an average job on the field. I myself thought everyone got a "C+"
except for Patrick Kabongo (spelling?) who looked like he was actually
enjoying himself. I would give him an "A" for enthusiasm and crowd
appeal...oh wait this isn't American Idol is it? I know this a big year for
the Cornhusker state but loosen up guys it's just a scrimmage!!! Anyhow,
the Husker Baseball team beat the shivering Texans and some 19 year-old
intoxicated Husker "Bared ALL" before the fans, no doubt a special treat
on a chilly afternoon, right? I feel sorry for the kid, they have
plastered his name, charges, blood alcohol level, and the fact that he had
to spend the night in jail after his parents were notified. That city of
Lincoln is just a wild and crazy place. Speaking of Lincoln, Dave and I
stopped into Duffy's for a beer and stomped around campus critiquing the
architecture of the new visitor center and the renevations at Richard's
hall. ALl in all it was a good trip.
Easter Sunday was spent at my Aunt and Uncle's and it was picture time,
reliving our beautiful day in Mexico. With the dreary weather I couldn't
help but long for my tank tops and sun-burned nose. Brunch was fabulous,
and we took home lots of goodies, including Peeps. As many of you know, I
gave up the Marshmellow poultry and hossenpheffers (spelling?)..that's
bunnies, covered in brightly colored granulated sugar this year as I have
done for the past three years. Twenty-four hours later I can safely say I
do not find them even remotely appetizing!!!
Marshmellow overload!!!!

Special thanks to Traci and Doug, we got the picture CD today and we loved
all the photos!!! Doug, I told Traci I was especially impressed with the
monkey pictures, solid work....HR for National Geographic maybe???
Take Care Everyone and have a good week!!

Dental experience

Hello everyone,
I too went to the dentist today....aren't we a nerdy couple??? I must say
though my trip was not as easy as David's and currently my nose is still
numb from the anesthetic!! I am actually glad that it is because once this
stuff wears off I could be a quite a bit of pain, time for aleve. Onto a
new subject, if anyone has any past experiences either good or bad with
moving companies we would like to hear them. I had three "survey"
estimates done yesterday and was on the phone with Ryder truck rental,
U-Haul, and Penske. It is amazing, but the cost of professional movers is
about the same driving your own truck, once you figure hiring someone to
load and unload the truck you rent as well as gas and insurance. Anyhow,
we had Mayflower, United, and ALlied give us estimates...if you have had
good luck with these or any others let us know. Dave and I are learning,
and with the help of our insurance agent we are learning that full
liability costs you extra even if a professional team does
everything....simply ridiculous. Good thing we don't have too much stuff.
Thanks for any and all input. Our moving date is tenatively schedueled for
May 20-22, they give you a two day window....and up to nine days after that
when it can be delivered.

Easiest Tooth Drilling of ALL TIME

WOW! I just got back from the dentist. My appointment was at 10:00 and I was out of there by 10:30. I had 2 teeth drilled and filled in under 30 minutes with NO PAIN! Granted it was an easy procedure of refilling some old fillings that had come a bit loose, but I came away with one of the best dental experiences I've ever experienced.

More top tens

In the spirit of the ever famous top ten lists, (which you may or may not
know have been a staple in our relationship), I thought it was only fitting
to add my own:

10. The absolutely crazy Three-ring circus that awaits travelers just past
the green light customs button
9. Praying for "no-whammys" when you push the Customs search button, Mees
was not soo lucky
8. Riding to the resort in a Ford Contour that was running on 2 of its 4
cylinders
7. Trying to pull 100 dollars out of an ATM and ending up with the
equivqlent of $10 dollars in Pesos.
6. Monkeys, peacocks,flamingos... (lions and tigers and bears, oh my!)
5. Learning the names of a variety of FOO-FOO drinks, their ingrediants,
and actually liking them
4. The crazy 18 year-old chain-smoking-Tequilla
slamming-playboy/mac-daddy-wannabe we met from Michigan, yet another reason
to hate Michigan.
3. Not figuring out how to restart the scooter in Cozumel and wondering if
we were going to be stranded at San Fransisco reef
2. Sea Kayaking just before the infamous rain storm...not the Perfect
Storm, we were singing the Gilligan's Island theme song the whole way in!!!
1. A toast to David, the man of my dreams, and to years of many more
adventures and fun times with family and friends!!

OK, I have put my two-cents worth in, look for many more future top ten
lists, we love them!!!
Hope everyone had a safe return to the USA, I know Dave and I found the
simple pleasures of the states rekindled when our plane was delayed in
Atlanta and we had time to run to Terminal A for Chick-fil-A....Oh living
in the US is good isn't it???

Have a great week!!!
