Cecil Beaton was a photographer, illustrator, designer and a writer. He captured the the elements of fashion from the 1920s until his death in 1980. In the 60s he photographed The Rolling Stones, Penelope Tree and Twiggy among others and was as much a part of Swinging London as they were.

Beaton had a long career as a photographer and journalist, but he also designed sets and costumes for several films and theatre productions. He designed the sets and gowns for the 1964 film My Fair Lady, starring Audrey Hepburn. 1000 costumes were to be made! His favourite period of history was the 1912-1914, pre World War One era, which can be seen in his designs for the film.
