The British Rock band The Rolling Stones was formed in 1962 by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charles Robert Watts and William Wyman. They are hailed as the "World’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band."

They have maintained a hard-edged, irreverent style during a career of more than twenty years. Complete opposites in style from fellow Brits and early rivals the Beatles, the Stones’ direct, raunchy music was influenced largely by American rhythm and blues. Their rebellious image was epitomised by their scruffy clothing.

Rolling Stones member Brian Jones was the dandy of the group. He was a fashionable young lad who spent a lot of time shopping for clothes in swinging London and Los Angeles. He and his model girlfriend Anita Pallenberg went around with matching blond haircuts and wore trendy androgynous clothes in the mid 60s. Brian's peak year for influence was 1966. He set fashion trends and many kids imitated his look. Many young rock bands of the time featured a 'Brian- alike' member who mimicked Brian in hair, clothes and attitude.
