Elemental Mage Teams
by Sirian

Class: Sorcerer
Tag: None, though teams are encouraged to creatively name their characters.

Introduction

This variant involves dedicated mage-class characters working together as a team. New characters must be started for this variant, and they must be played Pure, in closed games. Either two or three players may work together.

The concept is simple: There are three classes of magic in Diablo: Fire, Lightning, and Magic. Each player will be prohibited from learning any spells in ONE of the three classes.

Rules

One player is prohibited from ever reading any Fire spell books. The second is prohibited from reading any Lightning spell books. If there is a third player, he will be allowed to read either, but cannot read any Magic spell books.

Players may NOT use any scrolls involving spells from their prohibited element. Refer to the lists below for spell element information, which is balanced for game play, and not always true to the absolute category of spells.

Players always play together as a Team, and never play by themselves.

The Fire-deprived mage is not allowed to use his starting Firebolt spell. In fact, this spell can be removed (eliminated) through a cheat program, if the player desires.

Rules can be combined with other variants for a more challenging team experience, if desired.

This variant forces players to work closely together as a team, as each will be dependant on the other for help with certain monsters that are resistant or immune to all the spells they know. Players also have to make sure that they stay fairly close in experience. Because there are fewer monsters in Hell that are immune to Fire compared with those immune to Lightning, the Lightning-deprived mage can get too far ahead of the Fire-deprived mage if players aren't careful.

Spells

Spells are grouped as follows (even if the book colors don't match up).

Fire Spells
FireBolt, Inferno, Fire Wall, Elemental, Fireball, Flame Wave, Guardian, Apocalypse

Lightning Spells
Charged Bolt, Lightning, Chain Lightning, Golem, Nova

Magic Spells
Holy Bolt, Telekinesis, Flash, Stone Curse, Teleport, Bone Spirit, Blood Star

Nonaligned Spells (Available to All)
Healing, Heal Other, Town Portal, Phasing, Mana Shield, Infravision, Resurrect

Bone Spirit and Blood Bstar, usually the relegated useless trash spells of the Sorcerer, will play a key role in this variant, which is designed to be fun and interesting without being boring or tedious.
