Introduction

This variant is based upon the backstory of the warrior character as found in the Diablo manual.

Rules

If ever you are to hit a monster with a weapon other then that of your Warrior Clan or your magic, you must drop all your equipment/gold/other items in that game and leave. Quit all guilds you were in at the time, start a new game on any difficulty level and play it from the beginning to Diablo's death. You must do this alone, without visiting town more than once (the time you come into the game). You can not buy anything from the time you ditched your equipment to the time you start this new game. If you die in this game, you must delete this character.

You may join a Guild, as many Warrior Clans allow their members to do so, but you must still bring honor to your Warrior Clan by abiding by it's rules.

If you are to be killed, or another of you Warrior Clan or Guild in that game is, you must do all possible to avenge your/his/her death, even if it means putting your life at risk.

Items

Your equipment depends ultimately on which Warrior Clan you come from. You may only use your Warrior Clan's weapon and magic in battle. Out of battle, you may equip any weapon, but only for a magical bonus. You must prevent this this non-Clan weapon from touching any enemies (exceptions - corpses, using a spell you needed to equip this for, getting it from an enemy).

Example
My Warrior is a Sword Clan, so I only use a Sword or my magic to kill enemies no matter what I have to fight. However, I have a Staff of Wizardry in my inventory which I commonly use to read books.

Your Warrior Clan can be that of any weapon class. If you choose to be an Axe Clan, Bow Clan, or Hammer Clan, and Griswold won't offer you your weapon, you must use your fists until you find your type of weapon. Staff Clan is not allowed, however. They're called Monks, and you can only buy staves in Hellfire anyways :-)

Your Armor is also dependant on your Warrior Clan. Only Sword and Hammer Clans may use Shields. The Sword, Hammer, and Axe clans may use any armor. Bow Clan may use up to Breast Plate, but no more. The Fist Clan can use no more then a Ring Mail - it would hinder their movements too much to use more.

The Clans of Swords, Hammers, and Axes may all use any type of helm, excluding Crown. Bow Clan may use up to Helm, and Fist Clan up to Skull Cap (anything else reduces vision).

Enchantment Bans
All curses, King's, the Night, the Dark, Master's, Snake's, Serpent's, Wyrum's, Hydra's, the Leech, the Bat, Vampire's, the Bear, Thieve's, Peril, Jester's, Flaming, Burning, Fire, Flame, Shock, Lightning, Thunder, Slaughter, Carnage, Gore, Savage, Decay

Banned Uniques
Uniques may be used as long as the base item is allowed by the Clan. However, there are certain other uniques that cannot be used.

Nightscape, Scavenger Carapace, Torn Flesh of Souls, Bone Chain Armor (HF), The Butcher's Cleaver, The Mangler, Bow of the Dead, Blitzen, Flambeau, The Cranium Basher, Gnarled Root, Fool's Crest, Helm of Spirits, Overlord's Helm, The Undead Crown, Acoyltes Amulet (HF), Karik's Ring (HF), Split Skull Shield, The Bonesaw, Ice Shank, Inferno, Eater of Souls (HF), all unique staves

Shrines

NEVER use shrines. Clans scoff at them for their silliness. However, you may drink from any fountain and bathe in any pool.

Spells

All Magic is allowed, as long as it's legit. The exception is staff-magic. No magic is allowed to be cast from staves.

Quests

1) Mortal Enemy
Upon reaching lvl 15 in Hell/Hell, you are charged with finding your mortal enemy. The first enemy who does damage to you on lvl 14 is your mortal enemy, and you must do all possible to rid the world of their kind. If you are first damaged by a unique enemy, your mortal enemy is the unique's base type. (Note: I don't know if that was a typo, about the reaching level 15 and then being damaged on level 14. -Lem)
