Kittie was formed in 1996 by
Fallon Bowman (ex-guitarist) and Mercedes Lander (drummer) in Mercedes'
basement after meeting in a gymnastics class. Soon after, Morgan
(singer/guitarist), Mercedes' sister, came down and started playing with
them. They recruited a bassist (Michelle Horodyski), but she only
lasted two weeks (confirmed by both Tanya AND Fallon). Soon after, Tanya
Candler (ex-bassist) joined and Kittie was born. But there was one
problem--they didn't have a record deal! Kittie soon wrote out to all
the record companies they could think of, only to be rejected by
all.
