"Davy grew up in Manchester, England and his original ambition was to be a horse jockey. An interest in acting lead to work in radio, stage musicals, and his appearance on Britain's Coronation Street TV series. In 1964, Davy was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as the Artful Dodger in Oliver!. A US stage tour of Pickwick brought Davy to Los Angeles. Under the guidance of manager Ward Sylvester, he signed a deal with Columbia Pictures, recording a self-titled solo album. Soon he was a teen idol with his own fan club and photo spreads in Tiger Beat and 16. He appeared in the TV shows Ben Casey and The Farmer's Daughter. In 1965 Davy got his first break being chosen to star in a new television show: The Monkees."

"After Monkeemania, Davy returned to his solo career with the release of his second album and as a guest star on The Brady Bunch, Laugh-In, and Love, American Style. In 1975, he and Micky teamed with Boyce and Hart to tour and record an album for Capitol Records. He reprised his Oliver! role in 1976 and returned to England in 1977 to star with Micky in the musical The Point. Like Micky, Davy also starred in a recent road production of Grease and he occasionally appears on TV sit-coms. He still plays live shows and has released collections of solo material, distributed under his own label. Davy tells his side of the Monkees' story in the autobiography, They Made a Monkee Out of Me. Horse riding remains a passion."
