The following points are summaries of the actions of the taskforces and committees of CISV International, presented to the IEC on the official papers of the MWM Report (such as our IJR Report that we published on the last issue of this Infoletter). For any further info about these reports, or any doubt you might want to clarify, please contact your NA secretary or just send us a word!!
Interchange - IIC
The committee forecasts a number of 90 new Interchanges per year taking place in the whole CISV World. Its main goals for the next 3 years is to administrate well the interchange matchbox system and to reduce the number of cancellations in the programs.
An International Workshop about Interchange took place last January in Cincinnati, USA, with 20 participants from 5 different countries. The workshop focused on several areas considered critical to the Interchange program administration, such as the understanding of the Interchange Guide, the leadership recruitment and training, a planning for the hosting program.

Local Work - ILWC
The committee reports that the regional coordinators of LW are still having hard times pressuring NAs that hardly respond and cooperate in the survey to evaluate and improve the educational content of the programme.
An issue of the Local Work Magazine was published at the end of 1996 and many positive feed-backs were received by the editors - the committee believes this to be the most important too to reach the Lwers and to provide information.
One of the goals of the committee is to distribute the CISV Activities Data Base and keep incorporating activities but they believe there’s still a lot of work to be done. The review of the educational content of the activities is in progress and a copyright review should have started in January. Only when these 2 tasks are finished, the International Office (IO) will start negotiation with Procite about the purchase of the software.

Seminar Camp - ISCC
A serious of concerns were expressed by the committee in its report with respect to the staff of the camps. The number of applicants to be staff in Seminar camps is decreasing, with the average age and experience in the programme getting lower, and the commitee is afraid it won’t be able to guarantee staff teams with quality. The number of camps planned by the committee for the next years won’t increase because of this problem of staffs.
The camps of France, Philippines and Spain were cancelled due to lack of home staffs...

Village - IVC
The commitee prioritized 2 tasks during the past months: response to concerns and monitoring of Villages for 1997 and the completion of the revised Village Guide. A new organization strategy to the firts task is being tryied and the revised Guide is almost finished, only the forms that go with the Guide need to be revised but this will be done in conjunction with IO and the Publications & Publicity Committee (P&P).
The number of Villages is expected to increase from the actual 52 to 60 in 1999.

Summer Camp - SC Taskforce
Now that the Summer Camp Guide is complete (distributed last IBM), the commitee finds necessary to focus on the educational content of the camps that are being held and they are working on training Summer Camp coordinators for all NAs that participate in the program.
It is expected a discussion to grant the status of programme to Summer Camp at IBM’98 and this will switch the administrative work of the program from the coordinator to IO. The number of camps is expected to increase from the actual 17 to 20 in 1998.

Youth Meeting - IYM Taskforce
The committee proposes to transfer the IYM coordination from the Taskforce to the International Office (IO) and they are concerned with the time they can stay as a Taskforce for they believe IYM is not ready to become a CISV Programme. The number of camps is expected to increase from the actual 20 to 22 in 1998.

Educational Development and Research - EDRC
The committee states as main goals for the next years to complete core educational content of CISV (Infofile Section T) and develop quality assurance tools. An issue of the publication Interspectives was published last January. A study is being done with leadership training / leadership practice evaluation form and results shall be presented at next IBM.

Leadership Training - ILTC
A letter to all NAs about the need for quality Leadership Training was sent in November 1996 along with a Training Memo on Crisis Management and Health Concerns. A checklist on training topics will go out in early 1997 and a draft survey for Parent Training Needs has been compiled.

Promotion - IPC
The committee is currently working with 21 Promotional Associations (PAs) but it is necessary to restrict this number to about 3-4 PAs in each region of the world, as proposed at 1996 IBM, in order to have a better work. Special efforts are being put on promotion in Africa and former Eastern European countries. An african meeting is planned to 1998 and a workshop for the former eastern countries to 1999, if money can be found from donators.

Publications & Publicity - IPPC
Some of the goals of the committee for the coming years are to merge the CISV News and the Local Work Magazine (this idea is to be discussed), continue to contract advertisers for CISV publications and distribute CISV information over Internet. The revision of the existing Guides of CISV International appears to be more complicated than planned and the progress related to the Consolidated Guide will be presented on report at 1997 IBM.

Finance - IFC
Some of the goals of the committee for the coming years are to improve reporting routines within the organization and cooperate with committees’ budget holders and project leaders in raising funds. An action towards the first goal was to work with CISV Fiscal Officer (at IO) to have reports containing only relevant information and easily understandable by the readers. Per Hermansen, IFC chair, was assigned as Internal Auditor to CISV International, with auditing taking place during the MWM.

Constitutional Organization and Development - COD
COD plans to complete drafts on Program Rules & Procedures and Sanctions still in 1997. The revisions of Rules of Procedure and Terms of Reference for Officers, Secretary-General and Committees should be complete in 1997/98. The Board Member’s Handbook should be completed in 1998. A review of Long Range Organizational Development of CISV International as per Three Year Plan shall be ready for 1999.

Electronic Communication - EC Taskforce
ECT plans to initiate 2 pilot groups in 1997 to trial the use of e-mail to assess its value as a means of communication between officials of CISV. ECT is also responsible to monitor contents of NA and Chapter Homepages to ensure that they abide by the spirit of the approved Code of Practice and maintain or enhance the International reputation of CISV. Matt Pounsett (Canada) has accepted the position of Webmaster for the International Homepage of CISV.
