SAMVARDHAN- AGM  AT  TINTODA :

 

Annual General meeting of  SAMVARDHAN ( Association for Promotion of Indigenous Genetic Resources) was organized at Tintoda in Gujarat on 24-25th April 2001 which was participated by Dr. B. Prakash and Smt. Shobhana  of VSK .

SUR- JAYANTI  AT AGRA:

Sur Smarak Mandal Agra organizes an annual event of celebrating birthday of great Indian poet SURDAS. This year on 28-29th April  we (B.Prakash  &  Shobhana)      had a chance to participate in this  event organized  at SUR-SADAN, Agra and SURKUTI  situated  on the   bank of Yamuna river.

SARVODAYA –MEMBERS’  WORKSHOP AT  TARICHAR- KALA:

 

On 19-20th  May 2001  Dr. B. Prakash  conducted  a workshop  of Sarvodaya workers of Tikamgarh  district  on issues related to rural development  and traditional health  practices.The program was hosted by Sh. Durga Prasad Arya of Tarichar-kala village. Participants  comprised of farmers and teachers mainly  of  the same  district.

 

Partners’ Council of India- WORKSHOP  at Kozikode:

 

PCI organized its national consultation   at Kerala Gram Nirman Samithi  Ramanattukara  ( Kozikode district) to  prepare for  active future programs   on 6-8 July 2001. The meeting was participated by  social activists from Madhya Pradesh , Chhatisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamilnadu , Orissa,  Bihar and West Bengal.    U.P. was represented by Vigyan Shiksha Kendra.

 

LSPSS-AGM at COIMBATORE:

 

Dr. B. Prakash participated in the Annual General Body Meeting as Chairman of Lok Swasthya Parampara Samvardhan Samithi ( LSPSS), Coimbatore on 9-10th July 2001 at  Arya Vaidya  Chikitsalayam campus in Coimbatore (Tamilnadu).

 

 

PCI- sponsored PAD-YATRA  to highlight  land issues in bihar:

 

A pad-yatra was initiated  on 11th September 2001 from  Shram-Bharati

( Khadigram) Jamui (Bihar)  to Patna  by PCI  led by Shri P.V. Rajagopal a reputed  social activist to highlight the land-issues  of Bihar state including the non-distribution of  Bhoodan land earned by Sant Vinoba Bhave during his pad-yatra  in fifties. Dr. B. Prakash spent two days with this  group and offered solidarity with the cause.

 

KISAN VIGYAN SABHA:

 

On 23rd September 2001  farmers of  Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Chhatarpur and Sagar  and  scientists from nearby Agriculture universities  like Kanpur, Allahabad, Jabalpur, and  Institute of Agriculture Sciences, Varanasi  were invited  to discuss local problems  of farming  and exchange  relevant information about  organic techniques   towards solving them. This program was conducted at NP Pustakalaya, Banda Hall and organized by Kisan Vigyan Kendra unit of VSK.

 

GLOBAL PEACE VIGIL ORGANISED AT  NEW DELHI:

 

Ms. Kamla Bhasin and other friends organized  peace vigil at Gandhi Samadhi, Raj Ghat  New  Delhi on 2nd. October 2001 ,a part of the global peace vigil which was participated by  people from all walks of life  and also from abroad. Some 50 organizations  of India and many individuals. Dr.  B. Prakash  participated in the program. .

 

 

U.P. SARVODAYA MANDAL MEETS AT FAIZABAD:

 

Presided over by Shri Lokendrabhai,U.P. Sarvodaya Mandal  organized its meeting on 4-5 October 2001  at GRAM SWAWALAMBI SANGH campus , Faizabad (U.P.). Dr. Bharatendu Prakash attended  as special invitee to this program.

 

workshop on Traditional System of Medicine

 

IGSSS, New Delhi  inspired  certain voluntary groups working in area of health  to assemble and plan for an organized  action  in future. This meeting was hosted by SAVE and H.P.-VHA  at Kangra  on  12 - 14  October   2001. The assembly decided to work together  forming  Rural Health Forum    with its coordinating office at Varanasi. Dr. Bharatendu Prakash and Smt . Shobhana participated in this meeting  and were invited to be a part of proposed  Rural Health Forum.

 

SAGAR MEETING ON  CASTE  AND SANATANA  CONCEPT:

 

Inspired by Dr. Bharat Jhunjhunwala  an important get-together was organized  on 23 –24th November 2001 at Sagar to discuss the sanatana-concept of caste and inter-caste  convertibility  including  promoting such marriages and get-togethers.  Dr. B. Prakash and Pt. S.B.P. Tripathi   from Banda participated in the meeting.

 

RURAL HEALTH FORUM MEETS  at Varanasi:

 

The Kangra meeting had proposed  another get-together to be held at Varanasi which was organized by RHF-convener Dr. Sunil Kumar  on December 13-15  2001. All the groups present at Kangra and few more  participated in Varanasi meeting. RHF was  later renamed  as Jan Swasthya Parampara Manch.(JSPM). A newsletter  was decided to be published highlighting traditional health practices integrated under  JSPM.

 

irdc-BHU organises seminar on villages of 21st century:

 

On 15 and 16th December 2001  IRDC of Banaras Hindu University  organized a seminar on  21oha lnh dk xzkeh.k ifjn`”; which was participated by  Dr. B. Prakash  & Smt. Shobhana of VSK. A number of voluntary groups / organizations from east U.P.and prominent persons from all over India U.P. participated  in this meeting which  discussed threadbare the situation of villages in future. 

 

National Convention of voluntary organisations

 

Sponsored by CAPART ,a convention of voluntary organizations  was organized  at Viswa Yuvak Kendra , New Delhi  by  Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini, Mumbai  on 21 –22 December 2001  which was participated by Shri Shubhendu  on behalf of VSK.

 

JAL PANCHAYAT  AT MAHOBA:

 

Organised by Gramonnati Sansthan  a Bundelkhand level meeting of activists and organizations involved in programs related to land-water  issues  was   held at Mahoba on 26th December 2001 which dealt with the problems threadbare  and an action program  discussed.

 

NBT SPONSORED  WRITERS’ WORKSHOP:

 

Lucknow based organization  Nalanda invited us to the Writers’ –Painters’  Workshop  for developing  reading materials/ books for children during last week of December 2001. This was sponsored by  National Book Trust, New Delhi and promoted by UNICEF . Shubhendu and Bharatendu Prakash actively participated in the workshop.  A few poems useful for children were created by B. Prakash during this occasion. The workshop inspired us to produce children’s literature through this participatory  technique.

 

BUNDELKHAND SANGAM  ORGANISED AT ORCHHA:

 

As a follow-up of the PPST convention on  the traditional science and technology organized earlier  at Orchha for Bundelkhand region, it was thought to follow that up taking at least one issue like  water –resources in which this region has its  enormous traditional wisdom. Meeting was titled Bundelkhand Sangam organized at Orchha  on 8th January 2002. Dr. B. Prakash  along with several friends from Banda participated in this meeting.

 

 

Andhra Pradesh School-Science Development program :

 

A workshop was organized by Indian Institute Of Information Technology , Hyderabad  on 10-12 January 2002 to discuss various experiences in India and develop a worthwhile program so that Andhra schools are able to inculcate scientific temper and activity oriented science education for children. VSK was represented by Dr.B. Prakash.

 

TRAINING WORKSHOP ON FRUIT PRESERVATION:

 

Government of Uttar Pradesh  in order to promote fruit preservation and food processing  industry in this state , had invited all the organizations and concerns  for a two day-long training / mobilization workshop held at the Clarke-Awadh (Lucknow) on 16-17 January 2002 . Smt. Shobhana  represented VSK in this important training  workshop.

 

WORK SHOP ON CAPACITY BUILDING  FOR BIO-SAFETY

AND FOOD-SAFETY:

 

NAVDANYA and Research  Foundation for Science, Technology & Ecology ( RFSTE), organized  aforesaid  program on 19-20 January 2002  in order to train and sensitize  Indian and international community towards  understanding the present  move towards genetic engineering being applied to agriculture. Genetically engineered/modified food is reaching our table without any label or information in India.  There is strong need of awareness creation and capacity building amongst consumers for bio-safety and food-safety. The program was organized at NAVDANYA’s Ramgarh Farm ( Beej Vidyapeeth). Dr. B. Prakash was invited  by organizers to participate in this program.  

 

PRIA’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY:

 

On February 5,6 ,2002   Society for Participatory Research in Asia ( PRIA)  celebrated  its 20th anniversary  inviting most of  their   associates and friends at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi campus. The get-together  reviewed and highlighted role of PRIA in development process  based on participatory approach.  Smt. Shobhana and  Dr. B.Prakash  attended  the celebrations.

 

MEETING ON ORGANIC FOODS:

 

A national meeting on popularizing and marketing of organic foods was organized by KVIC, Mumbai  on 1-2 March 2002 at Gandhi Darshan, Raj Ghat , New Delhi. Dr. B. Prakash was invited as a resource person ; two of the meetings within this program were presided over by him. A brand name “ DESHI AHAAR” for the organic food products of KVIC was decided in this historic meeting. 

 

South asian network of soil and Seed savers :

 

At Auroville (Tamilnadu)  a three day workshop on traditional seeds was organized on 8-10 March 2002  to learn and  promote  saving of traditional vegetable- seeds and ensure distribution to the farmers.  Promoting organic cultivation of vegetables   was highlighted in this workshop and ways to cultivate and process seeds was demonstrated  by  the organizers.  VSK was represented  by  Shubhendu  and Dr. B. Prakash. A large number of seeds of vegetables were made available to participants during the  aforesaid program. These  were later tried out at VSK’s  research farm also.

 

An E-communication / discussion group was launched by Shubhendu after this workshop for exchange of experiences  in vegetable farming  with   e-Mail id :  vegnet@list.to 

 

 

NEG workshop on primary education at Lucknow:

 

On 13-14th March 2002   NEG  organized a workshop on primary education which was participated by all partner groups of NEG  including VSK. The workshop discussed the situation as well as innovations which could be tried out  through schools run by the organizations with support from NEG.

 

kvic sponsored meeting on margin money scheme at Banda:

 

On 27th March 2002 VSK organized a meeting of enterprising  farmers, voluntary organizations, entrepreneurs, bankers, and officials of KVIC state office Lucknow.  Jiladhikari of Banda , Shri D.N. Lal  and the KVIC State Director  Shri S.N. Shukla were  honoured guests  during this occasion.

 

KVIC-sponsored margin money scheme  and likely credit-finances through banks for rural enterprises  were discussed and highlighted during this meeting. 

 

NATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING ON WATER :

 

On 22nd March 2002 a National Hearing on Water was organized by Research Foundation on Science, Technology and Ecology, New Delhi  to highlight the issue and enforce people’s voice. VSK was duly represented.

All India Conference on the Role of The Voluntary Sector in National Development:

 

On 20th April 2002 Planning Commission, Govt. of India organized a meeting of all important  voluntary and Non-Govt –organizations to meet Prime-Minister of India, Shri AB Bajpayee  and discuss voluntary sector’s role in National Development. Dr. B. Prakash of VSK was invited to participate in this conference.      

 

Kisan-Vigyan Meeting  and  Training in Organic Farming :

 

The aforesaid program was organized by VSK on 21-23 May 2002 at its KVK campus, which was participated by  number of organic farmers,  trainees , people from nearby villages, officers of Agriculture Deptt of Banda and activists and experts from Delhi, Bhopal/Wardha, and Indore. Last day of the program  was addressed by Commissioner of Chitrakoot Dham (Banda division), Shri S.C. Saxena.  Main  theme of his address was  towards popularizing sustainable organic techniques in farming.  

NATIONAL CONVENTION ON COMMUNITY RIGHTS TO NATURAL RESOURCES AND THE CONSTITUTION:

NAVDANYA /RFSTE , New Delhi organized aforesaid program  between 10th and 13th August 2002 at ISI, New Delhi highlighting need of stressing community rights over natural resources . This was  felt essential in light of the World-Bank / WTO ‘s forcing changes in our national policies and laws violating the constitutional provisions and denying people of their rights to the natural resources. Dr. B. Prakash  was invited to be a panelist in section of biodiversity. Shri K.K. Bharatiya  an organic  farmer leader of Banda also  participated in this event.

3rd. NATIONAL  GUNIE   ( TRADITIONALHEALERS)  WORKSHOP :

On 23-25 September 2002,  Udaipur  based organization JJVS  organized  national workshop of traditional healers  at Adhyatma Sadhana Kendra, Chhatarpur near Mehrauli  in  New Delhi. The program highlighted  importance of traditional healers in meting  basic health-need of Indian society  because of their capacity of reaching  up to the poorest in remote areas and  the down to earth approach towards  problems. From Bundelkhand Vd.Laxmandas, Vd. C.M. Shrivastava , Pharmacy assistant Kamta Prasad  and Dr. B. Prakash attended the program. An international forum of GUNI-JAN was proposed to be launched here.

SAMVARDHAN  ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AT WARDHA:

On 27-29 September 2002  , SAMVARDHAN ( Association For Promotion of Indigenous Genetic Resources)  organized its annual general body meeting at Wardha in Maharashtra. Dr. B. Prakash , one of its founder member and Executive Board –member  participated in this annual get-together .

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON PERMANENT SOLUTION TO DROUGHT-SITUATION  IN BUNDELKHAND REGION:

Parmarth Samaj Sevi Sanstha  and Aapda Rahat Manch based at  Orai (Bundelkhand-UP) organized a day long program on aforesaid problem which was participated by senior administrator,Dr. Kamal Taori and district Magistrate of Jalaun . Dr. B. Prakash was invited as honoured guest to this important meeting  which highlighted need of  society’s own efforts of assessment and action towards solving problems of drought situation in Bundelkhand region.

DHANVANTARI JAYANTI   AT  PRITHVIPUR :

The 2nd November, 2002 was the Dhanvantari Jayanti  day which was celebrated by traditional healers of Jhansi district, led by Dr. Dayaram Varma at Prithvipur town. Dr. Bharatendu Prakash was honoured as chief guest of the program while Dr. C.M. Shrivastava of Jeevaniya hospital  represented  VSK . The program presided over by local M.L.A. was attended by several well-known vaidyas  of Jhansi district.

KALINJER  MAHOTSAVA

Administration of  Chitrakoot Dham  (Banda ) division and district authorities  organized  Kalinjer Mahotsava  on 18th November 2002 at Kalinjer fort which was participated by  many historians, social workers, cultural groups, thousands of people of the area and  administrative  officials. Dr. B. Prakash and Smt. Shobhana attended the function and were honored  for their contribution in   highlighting Kalinjer  in many ways.

CHILDREN’S SCIENCE CONGRESS-  regional  Program  at Banda:

A  regional get-together of children participating in creation of science models / projects on  this year’s  theme  “ Nutritional Food Systems for All”  was organized on 30th November 2002 at Saraswati Vidya Mandir  , Banda. This NCSTC sponsored program   was instrumental in inspiring many school children to think of relevant models/projects  and seem to strengthen society-friendly science. Dr. B. Prakash was an honoured guest during this occasion.    

TRAINING ON BIO-MANURE PRODUCTION :

The Zonal Bio-Manure Pilot Centre  of  KVIC, located  at Gandhi-Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi   organized a  week long program of training possible trainers on bio-manure production . This was attended by two workers of Vigyan Shiksha Kendra, Bhauram and Harish Chandra Kushwaha to enable them to guide  local farmers for the process.

 

PROCESS OF PANCHAYATI- RAJ AND JOURNALISM:

On 28th January 2003  a Banda based organization, PASK organized  above-mentioned program  inviting social activists and the journalists. The role of MEDIA in the process of PR- guided  rural development  was discussed and found very effective and thus essential. VSK was duly represented.

CAPART – TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE CENTRES’  MEETING:

On 11th February 2003 , a day long meeting was organized by CAPART  (Govt. of India) to discuss the activities and role of TRC’s at its New Delhi based office. VSK had been  initiator of TRC-concept during   early years of CAPART. Dr. B. Prakash attended this important meeting and put forth his views.

TRAINING on biodiversity,biotechnology and biopiracy organised AT BEEJ VIDYAPEETH (RAMGARH) DEHRADUN:

An international event of training  on aforesaid issues was organized by NAVDANYA / RFSTE New Delhi from 9th February to 22nd February 2003 at BEEJ VIDYAPEETH campus near Dehradun (Uttranchal)  Dr. B. Prakash addressed  participating Indian and  international  youths on  Rural Development and Traditional  Technology during 12 and 13 February 2003. 

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON SEEDS AND FARMERS’ RIGHTS:

On 15-16 February 2003  a national seminar was organized by INSAF,  Chhatisgarh Seed Satyagraha and  Richharia Campaign, at Raipur to discuss  the issue of seeds and farmers’ rights . Major emphasis was to oppose IGKVV Raipur to hand over  Dr. Richharia’s rice- seed collection   to the international organization SYNGENTA. A people’s panel was later constituted to evaluate  Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwa-vidyalaya, Raipur. in the light of above issue. VSK was duly represented and  Dr. B. Prakash was named a member of  People’s Panel along with Dr. V. Ramprasad, Ms. Sudha Bhardwaj, Mr. Jacob Nellithanam, Dr. Sanket Thakur, and Dr. Claude Alvares.

BUNDELKHAND SAMAJ-SHASTRA SAMMELAN:

Department of Sociology of Pt. JLN Mahavidyalaya, Banda organized its Xth Bundelkhand Samaj-Shastra Sammelan and national seminar on lkekftd :ikarj.k dh uohu izfdz;k;sa on 2nd March 2003 which was addressed by Dr. B. Prakash on behalf of Vigyan Sh. Kendra.

PEOPLE’S NATIONAL WATER  FORUM/ WATER PARLIAMENT :

Navdanya/ Research Foundation  on Science, Technology and Ecology, New Delhi organized  People’s National Water Forum and Water Parliament  on 14-16 March 2003 at India International Centre, New Delhi  to stress people’s freedom of using its resources like water and oppose  its sell-out to International organizations in the name of management. Participants were from all over India .

This event raised the issue of River-Linking Plan of Govt. of India and information about  KEN-BETWA  and KALI SINDH –CHAMBAL  river links  was disseminated  which later became  one major issue of struggle in Bundelkhand in which VSK participated actively.

NATIONAL SEMINAR  ON MEDICINAL PLANTS AND HOME-REMEDIES :

Lucknow based JEEVANIYA SOCIETY and National Botanical Research Institute organized a two day national seminar ( 22-23 March 2003)  at NBRI campus to discuss the potential of medicinal plants and  traditional home-remedies in Primary Health Care and Income-Generation .  Dr. B. Prakash on behalf of VSK contributed a paper entitled – at the seminar and attended its proceedings on 23rd  March 2003. mm

DESH BACHAO-DESH BANAO CAMPAIGN VISITS BANDA:

Ms. Medha Patkar led  NAPM-campaign  DESH BACHAO-DESH BANAO on its way from Palghat to Ayodhya visited Banda on 28th March 2003. A   public meeting was organized at Banda where  VSK was duly represented by its members and office-bearers including Dr. B. Prakash and Smt. Shobhana etc.

CONSULTATION MEETING OF SARVODAYA WORKERS AND FRIENDS IN BUNDELKHAND AT MAU-RANIPUR:

U.P. Sarvodaya Mandal President, Shri Lokendra Bhai  organized a two day  meeting of Bundelkhand based Sarvodaya  workers and friends on 4-5 May 2003 which discussed the societal situation of this region and explored how Sarvodaya  line of thought be popularized and youths interested and involved in this process. Bharatendu Prakash as a SARVODAYA FRIEND participated in this meeting and put forth  his views.

AKAL RAHAT MANCH MEETS AT ORAI:

On 14th July A.R.M., a Orai based people’s forum organized  a day long meeting on the problems related to drought in Bundelkhand. This opportunity was utilized in sensitizing participants for understanding and opposing  Govt.’s dangerous move of diverting  KEN towards BETWA river.

BUNDELKHAND JAL-SANSAD :

On 23rd July 2003, Bundelkhand Jal Sansad  participated by large number of activists, social workers, Environmentalists, farmers, scientists and women from all the districts of Bundelkhand , discussed thread-bare  the Central Govt. ‘s new proposal of diverting river KEN to Betwa  through  river-interlinking plan. Entire SANSAD was against any such unnatural  move and also because Ken serving  hundreds of villages, being  itself a smaller river  will upset the whole water balance scenerio pof the area.  This river-link was outright rejected.

ORGANIC FARMING ASSOCIATION OF INDIA FORMED:

On 26-27th  July 2003  a national get-together of organic farmers, organizations and individuals  promoting organic farming in India   was organized by  Shri P. Babu of  ICRA and Shri Claude Alvares of Goa , at ISI-campus Bangalore.  An  association  O.F.A.I. ( Organic Faming Association of India) was launched  during this get-together and a National Stearing  Committee was formed. Dr. B. Prakash of VSK was nominated as NSC member  from Uttar Pradesh. 

ORGANIC FARMERS’ GET-TOGETHER   AND INITIATING GOSHALA:

A get-together of organic farmers and resource persons from Ahmedabad, Agra  and Delhi  was organized  at Kisan Vigyan Kendra, campus (Vill: Terahi-muafi) on 16-18th October 2003 . The program was of  utmost importance  because of its interactive nature and exchange of experiences.

On 18th a GOSHALA was  initiated to house many old  cows which are abandoned by their  owners.  This GOSHALA will try to rear the old cows along with  demonstrating   compost making and also improvement of cow’s breed through indigenous cattle stock .

NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON SUSTAINABLE WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT :

Sponsored by CAPART ( Govt. of India)  a national workshop on water resource management was organized  by Deendayal Research Institute at its AROGYA DHAM  campus in  Chitrakoot  on 29-31 October 2003. After thorough discussion on the issues a declaration was issued which highlighted traditional systems, conservation of water and avoiding  un-natural  and harmful river-linking projects  proposedby  Government of India.   On behalf of VSK Vd.  C.M.  Shrivastava participated  in the workshop

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT MEETING  FOR AN ALL INDIA COORDINATED PROJECT:

DRCSC, Kolkata  invited important Indian organizations working on environment and sustainable farming  to discuss  and propose to Deptt. of  Science & Technology ( DST ), Govt. of India ,an All India Coordinated Project  on Bio-integrated Resource Management for inspiring livelihood quality and food security   of Resource-poor farmers on 30th October to 1st November 2003. The project was discussed thoroughly and each participating organization was asked to write one’s project proposal  separately under title BIOFARM  and submit it to DST as soon as possible.

JAIV PANCHAYAT ADHIVESHAN (LIVING DEMOCRACY CONVENTION) -17,18 November 2003

NAVDANYA / RFSTE, New Delhi organized   aforesaid convention where  large number of participants from all over India participated. The areas like Natural rights to Natural Resources, Land-Alienation & Land-rights, Forest, Seed and Biodiversity rights and Water-Privatization and Water Rights were covered under discussion. 

Strategies for strengthening Living Democracy Movement for People’s sovereignty – Jaiv-Panchayat for  LOK-SWARAJ comprising  BIJA-, JAL-, BHU-, VAN- and ANNA- Swaraj were discussed and follow-up action was formulated. On behalf of work in Bundelkhand and U.P. Dr. B. Prakash attended the program.

.ROLE OF MEDIA IN PEOPLE’S POWER:

Gram Unmesh Sansthan of Banda organized  a one day seminar on aforesaid theme at N.P. Pustakalaya Banda campus on 30th December 2003. The program was sponsored by Sahbhagi Shikshan Sansthan, Lucknow . Dr. B. .Prakash addressed the assembly  stressing  need of grassroot  efforts of publication of newspaper from villages, schools and Panchayats. Participation of people in shaping the media is essential in a democratic set-up.

On 1-2 January 2004  Prasang Narmada  was organized at Chhatarpur in order to remember late Dr. Narmada Prasad Gupta,  person and his creation and contribution  in field of literature and culture of Bundelkhand . The program was organized and sponsored by Bundelkhand Sahitya Academy, Bundelkhand Sanskritik evam  Samajik Sahyog Parishad, and P.N. Ayojan Samiti  of Chhatarpur (M.P.). Dr. B. Prakash was invited to this program.

WORKSHOP FOR SECRETARIES OF GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATIONS ON WRITING PROPOSALS:

Dr. A.K. Sharma of Humanities and Social Science Department  ( I.I.T./ Kanpur)   organized  a workshop  for  key-officials of voluntary development organizations on 1-3 February 2004 to enable them to formulate projects relevant to the need of their work-area. Effort was to understand various factors influencing development process and devise appropriate plan of action.

Smt. Shobhana  participated in the workshop as observer while  Dr. B. Prakash addressed the  audience  towards sustainable measures while preparing plan of development and intervention in any area.

 

NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON WTO,TRIPS,FOOD SOVEREIGNTY & GENETIC ENGINEERING: 15-17 March 2004

Sponsored by Misereor , Germany this workshop was organized at Raipur by Chhatisgarh Seed Satyagraha, Richharia Campaign, Chhatisgarh Mukti Morcha , Chhatisgarh Action Research Team and RCDC, Raipur. Many organizations from all over India participated in this program which discussed  all issues under title and also organized a field visit to I.G. Agriculture University, Raipur in order to understand the fate of thousands of paddy  varieties under  Dr. Richharia’s  collection. Member of People’s Panel ,Dr. B. Prakash was invited to participate in this important international gathering.

STATE KVIC REVIEWS BIO-MANURE WORKSHPS AND BIO-GAS PROGRAM:

On 29th March 2004 , A review  meeting was organized by State KVIC- Director, Shri S.N.Shukla to take stock of the situation. All field workers and officers concerned participated  in the meeting . Dr. B. Prakash was invited to  present the work performed by VSK and address the participants regarding efficacy of the program.  A marketing  mechanism  was discussed  in order to promote  entrepreneurs to take up manufacture of Bio-manures  including  Vermi-Composts .
