More information about Burud People from Burud caste have traditional occupation of preparing articles from Bamboo. Burud is name specific to particular states like Maharashtra. Burud is derived from a Sanskrit word Buruda. Buruda in Sanskrit means a basket-maker, mat-maker. In Karnataka people with similar occupation are called Medar, while in Madhaya Pradesh they are called as Basor. Similarly they are spread in different parts of India. Their social status varies from state to state. In general people from these castes don't inter-marry, however there have been few exceptions and trend is changing slowly. 11. Avoid using short forms such as "ur" for "your". Use clear and understandable English. Acronyms such as BTW, IMHO, can be used, but sparingly.
  12. Use Plain TEXT for messages. A simple plain text message is easy and safe to read. Downloading attachments for reading purpose needs good AntiVirus software.

  15. Any "amusing/descent/general knowledge" TEXT messages just to keep the group live are allowed. But please be "choosy" while sending emails to a group of people majority of whom you may have not met personally and are unaware of their personality. There are people with different tastes and age groups. Some forwards may create a different impression about you. For caste based group like ours relevant articles are the best, and other forwards are OK if they are "quality" and really useful. Your own indigenous thoughts are more important than forwards. The quantity of emails is not important.
  16. The group email id: BurudOnline@yahoogroups.com should not be used to subscribe to any other groups, without prior concent of all members.

Who is Webburud?

  1. Myself Webburud is Administrator of this website and the owner of BurudOnline group.
  2. I wish to contribute to social upliftment of Burud Community. I started the this group in Dec 2003.
  3. I use pseudonym because "it puts focus on what is being said rather than who is saying". This is critical if this mission is to move forward. Our own subtle prejudices and biases (based on the age, perceived gender, social position, etc. of the person writing, and/or our real-life interactions with them) can certainly affect the way we read and interpret people's words, affecting our ability to really understand what they're trying to say and consider it fairly. I don't wish that this mission stops because of personal differences. So, I will try to refrain from revealing my identity.
