The purple orchid lay across the white lace bedspread.  The tears fell upon the written words of the letter.  Her hands were trembling and with gentle movements she ripped at the pages that fell onto the pillow.  "Forever.  Forever.  Forever."  The three words were written in bold italics.  "Love Collin."  Walking out onto the balcony she took a deep breath of the fresh night air and gazed out into the ocean at the shimmering sparkles twinkling in the darkness.  She smiled as she thought of the two of them a month ago.  Walking hand and hand along the sand.  Picking shells and talking of the plans the two of them had for their future.  Their was a gracefulness to his manner since they had become lovers.  Where he had always been so business like and gentlemanly at work, when they were alone he was able to relax and be the playful one.  She would run her fingers gently through the hairs of his chest after they had made love.  The beads of sweat still lingering from the fiery heat of their lovemaking.  They had enjoyed many evenings together.  This was where they had bought their home.  Where they had planned to raise their children.

Since neither one had ever married before they both knew this was an extremely important step for both of them.  It had been the best of the best.  She stretched her arms above her and her lithe body still youthful though she was nearing forty years old made graceful movements as she walked out on the balcony.  Lifting her hair the dark brown curls fell playfully to her svelte waistline.  This was the dream.  She bit her bottom lip.  It certainly could not have been a better laid plan.  They both had ample means of income and combined their interests to purchase the beach house.  Everything was working perfectly.  Her job was stressful but extremely rewarding spiritually for her.  Designing the children's books had been a long sought career path.  He shared creativity with her as he was a publisher of books.  The most important thing was that both families approved of the marriage.  They had both agreed that this would be a union that would be profitable both in love and in finances.
"Sarah."  He had whispered softly in her ear.  His warm breath sent shivers down her spine and her skin tingled beneath his hands.  "You are the love of my life.  Forever.  Forever.  Forever." His voice was the only one that would calm her restless nights when they lived in separate states.

She will be dearly missed!
Damn sure glad I found out about the bomb. Rather for her to die than me.” He threw half of the empty liquor bottle into the water and watched it bob up and down amidst the waves as it made its way up along the sandy beach. His vision blurred. He took the cell phone from his shirt pocket and dialed Sarah’s number in South Carolina. He wanted to threaten her life, but changed his mind before the call was answered and quickly pushed the end button. “Why threaten her?” he thought aloud. “I will just go there and do away with the both of them.  "They ruined my life. Fair is fair.” In his twisted mind he proceeded to set his new plan in motion and decided to call the airline and asked for a flight to South Carolina. He wanted the soonest one he could possibly get. The attendant on the other line said that this day had been a slow travel afternoon and he might even be able to get a flight out later. Even the next hour. “Good. Book that flight for me right now,” he hissed into the phone and the attendant quickly took his information. He watched as a young couple came walking by. The only people he saw in half an hour standing out there on the beach. They walked by him arm inarm. They tried to avoid looking at him, noticing his drunken movements, and didn’t want any trouble with him. “Got a problem?” He watched them and as they hurried by him and he mumbled beneath his breath, “Damn simpletons. Stupid lovebirds.” Their lives were just so simple. “Get off my beach!” he yelled after them as they turned, sticking their middle fingers up at him. “It is still my beach house. Damn you, Sarah.” He went to run after them, but decided they were not worth the trouble and stood watching them, swaying back and forth from the effects of the liquor. Things started to look blurry for him and he knew the alcohol was hitting his bloodstream full force. He had to get to the airport and make that flight before he passed out.  He looked up at the house and the wooden siding and the bay window that she loved so much. Pulling his arm back, he threw the glass up at the window. It missed though. He wished it would have hit so it would break. He picked up a couple of rocks and tried to hit the window, but he swayed and missed every time. “Shit. I got to get to the airport anyway.” He spat along the sand as he moved into the house.  The attendant was correct. There was no trouble getting on the flight. No one wanted to travel that day for some reason, making this day a lot easier for him. The flight was quick and he slept most of the way, letting the liquor calm his nerves and wearing off his drunken stupor.  He rented a car and it didn’t take but twenty minutes for him to find the house. Sarah had explained the directions to the house from the airport perfectly while she was up in the hills with him. “Nice house!” ....
