LUNACHICKS – THE PARADISE –OCTOBER 23,1999

On October 23,1999 I finally saw the Lunachicks live. They played at the Paradise in Boston, MA. They were there on the GoKart Record tour with Buzzcock, Down By Law, and The Pinkerton Thugs. I had been waiting to see them perform live since the first time I heard “Jerk of all Trades” in 1995. I waited impatiently through the first two bands for it to be time for the Lunachicks to come on stage. When Down By Law started breaking down and the Lunachicks started setting up, a crowd descended to the front of the stage. When they entered the stage area in their yellow and black cheerleader outfits, everyone just started cheering. From the moment they played the first song, I was in a complete fog of happiness. I have listed their set list below but I couldn’t tell you what order they were in because I was too excited to think straight. Their music has always amazed and delighted me but when I finally saw them perform live I was totally blown away. They have so much energy that they get the crowd energized too. After they finished, I decided that my night was almost complete. It was time to leave but I had to make a stop at their merchandise table on the way out. They have so much cool merchandise for sale. I left there with 3 new t-shirts and their new video: Naked. If you ever get a chance to see them perform live, do it because it is truly a wonderful experience.
