The Independence Hall Chapter was organized by Miss Harriet Baird Huey on December 13, 1898.  The chapter's request to organize was granted by the National Board on January 3, 1899, and subsequently was granted its charter on October 7, 1899.  A formal presentation of the Charter was made in the Supreme Court Room of Independence Hall on December 13, 1899.
