"When full throttle on it.", James says. "We got a couple boats, Jet Skis, wake boards, barbecue and beer." James led the gang, which included Lars, Jason, Kid Rock and crew to Lake Lanier, Georgia for a chance to chill. "From day one of the tour", sys Hetfield," we've had a great vibe with the other bands. Kid Rock got out there, had a few beers and did some wakeboarding."  Then come the pain! "So we are out there in the Jet skis going about 64miles per hour" , James says. "And I landed wrong and aggravated some disks in my back." He blamed his "hugely satanic onstage stance" for his persistent back woes. Jason, Kid Rock and the guys from Korn rescued Metallica on the next 3dates, filling Hetfield's vocals and rhythm guitar. "I really wanted to get back out there as soon as I could", says James. "If I'd have broken both my legs, I'd still be out there playing, but everybody was saying 'Wait! It's your back. This is the rest of your life' and blah blah blah! But I did 4weeks of the therapy in 4days, and now we're back and strong." Would he do it all over again? "Fuck yeah...I dig speed. I'm built for seed. May be I'll leave out the jumping part next time".

So Jason quit on January 17, 2001. Many people say he quit because James didn't allow him to do his projects but who knows? James is James!
