Circumcision
The Covenant
Let's go in our
bibles to Gen.17:9-14 (And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep
my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their
generations. ver.10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every
man child among you shall be circumcised. ver.11 And ye
shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall
be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. ver.12 And he that
is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every
man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or
bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. ver.13
He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy
money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be
in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. ver.14 And the uncircumcised
man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised,
that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken
my covenant.)
Circumcision Is
A Must
God's COVENANT
with Abraham, and his seed after him, was CIRCUMCISION. Every man
child at eight days old among the people of God was commanded by
God to be CIRCUMCISED. Look at the wording in ver.13 again; MUST
NEEDS BE CIRCUMCISED!
So we see that
under the OLD COVENANT, that Circumcision was a absolute MUST! It
was understood by God's people that if we are to be in COVENANT
WITH GOD, the FLESH of the foreskin had to be CUT OFF!
For with out the CUTTING OFF of the FLESH OF THE
FORESKIN, there could be no COVENANT WITH GOD.
God required
absolute obedience out of His people under the Old Covenant that
they PERFORM His COVENANT OF CIRCUMCISION. And the
ABSOLUTE NECESSITY for this to be carried out by His people under
the Old Covenant, was because of what it TYPED concerning the NEW
COVENANT. Praise God, everything under that OLD COVENANT TYPED
AND SHADOWED the NEW COVENANT that has replaced the Old
Covenant. God's word says it like this in Heb.10:9 & 10, (Then
said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the
first, that he may establish the second. ver.10 By the
which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of
Jesus Christ once for all.)
JESUS CHRIST IS
THE FULFILLING OF THE OLD COVENANT! And through His DEATH,
BURIAL, RESURRECTION, and ASCENSION back to the Right Hand of the
Father, the NEW AND BETTER COVENANT which is ESTABLISHED
UPON BETTER PROMISES has replaced the Old Covenant. Read Heb.8:6-10.
Now to understand
that it is not the CIRCUMCISION in the Flesh of the
foreskin which is made with the hands of man, that God Requires
in this NEW COVENANT, let us take a look at Gal.6:12-16 (As many
as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they constrain you to
be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the
cross of Christ. ver.13 For neither they themselves who are
circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised,
that they may glory in your flesh. ver.14 But God forbid
that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. ver.15
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing,
nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. ver.16 And
as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and
mercy, and upon the Israel of God.)
So what
CIRCUMCISION IS A MUST? IT IS THE CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART!
It is that Circumcision which is a ABSOLUTE MUST IN THE LIVES
OF GOD'S PEOPLE IN THIS NEW AND BETTER COVENANT!
Even under the Old
Covenant God wanted their Hearts Circumcised, Dut.10:16 (Circumcise
therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more
stiffnecked.) But the Old Covenant could not bring them to that.
You see, it ALL has to do with a CHANGE OF HEART! And that
Old Covenant could not change there hearts; for it takes a CHANGED
HEART TO KEEP THE COVENANT! YOU MUST SERVE GOD WITH YOUR
WHOLE HEART! And it's only Christ the mediator of a better
covenant, which was established upon better promises, that
can GIVE US A NEW HEART TO SERVE GOD.
Yes, God Will
Kill YOU
Look with me again
at Gen. 17:14; (And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of
his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut
off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.)
Just how serious
is God about this CIRCUMCISION STUFF?
Lets look at Ex. 4:20&24-26
(And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass,
and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of
God in his hand. ver. 24 And it came to pass by the way in the
inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him. ver.25
Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her
son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband
art thou to me. ver.26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody
husband thou art, because of the circumcision.)
Take a good look
at ver.24; And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the
LORD met him, and sought to kill him. You need to see this.
God is about to KILL MOSES! Yes the same Moses that has a CALL
OF GOD ON HIS LIFE. The same Moses that has just left meeting
with God on the backside of the desert at the FIERY BUSH. The
same Moses that has been sent by God to tell Pharaoh to, LET GOD'S
PEOPLE GO! Take a hard look at it; GOD IS OUT TO KILL HIM!
WOW. GOD IS
JUST ABOUT TO KILL MOSES!
You may ask; but
why? Here is the reason; He had not CIRCUMCISED HIS SONS.
Moses knew that God commanded every male child among them was to
be CIRCUMCISED at eight days old. But he had not yet performed
the Circumcision on his sons because his wife Zipporah had made
such a fuss about it. Read ver.26 again, then she said, A bloody
husband thou art, because of the circumcision. she never
was for it, she did not feel that it was all that important.
There are many
Pastors who have not REQUIRED AND DEMAND A CUTTING OFF OF THE
FLESH from their congregations because many in the church
have put up such a fuss about it. Many have threatened to leave
the church. Many have threatened to withhold their tithes and
offerings, or to give them somewhere else if the Pastor INSIST ON
THE FLESH BEING CUT OFF. Shout Amen Someone.
But dear Pastor
friend of mine, that is still no excuse for you not preaching
against SIN and FLESHLINESS! FOR YOU ARE THE ONE ACCOUNTABLE,
AND IT IS YOU WHOM GOD WILL CUT OFF FIRST, IF YOU DON'T
REQUIRE AND ABSOLUTELY DEMAND A CUTTING OFF OF THE FLESH!
Hear the
seriousness and severity of this; God says: ether you CUT OFF
THE FLESH, or I will CUT YOU OFF!
Someone would say:
Now Bro. Mike we can't make people live right. True; BUT YOU AS
THE PASTOR CAN KEEP THEM FROM BEING DEACONS, SUNDAY
SCHOOL TEACHERS, SONG LEADERS, MUSIC DIRECTORS AND
MUSICIANS IN THE CHURCH IF THEY WON'T LIVE RIGHT! You Might
As Well Shout Amen.
When God met Moses
there by the way in the inn, it was not to PRONOUNCE A BLESSING
upon him before he gets into Egypt; it's because He SOUGHT TO
KILL HIM, and to give Moses and his wife one last chance to CIRCUMCISE
THEIR SONS so He could let them go on into Egypt to do His
Work.
Now when Zipporah
sees that God is about to KILL HER HUSBAND, she grabs a SHARP
STONE, "That Rock Is JESUS! He is the WORD OF GOD,
and Eph. 6:17 says; (And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God:)" and
with that Sharp Stone she sets in CIRCUMCISING THEIR SON'S; and ONLY
BY CHRIST JESUS CAN OUR HEARTS TRULY BE CIRCUMCISED UNTO THE LORD!
God Says, Now
You Can Go
There are many who
have been deceived by satan into thinking that just because they
have a CALL OF GOD ON THEIR LIVES; IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW THEY
LIVE. They continue to live their lives after the FLESH, but try
to justify their FLESHLINESS and CARNAL lives, and their refusal
to CIRCUMCISE the foreskin of their heart by saying; I HAVE A
CALL OF GOD ON MY LIFE. So did Moses, but GOD'S ABOUT TO KILL
HIM!
And just as God
would not let Moses go on down into Egypt to tell Pharaoh, Let
God's People Go! Until the COVENANT OF CIRCUMCISION was
keep; HE WILL ALSO STAND IN THE WAY TO STOP YOU FROM GOING ANY
FARTHER UNTIL YOU CUT OFF THE FLESH FROM YOUR LIFE!
God will not allow
anyone to do His Work IN THE FLESH. For the Work of God
can only be done by the Spirit. God told Zerubbabel in Zec.4:6, (Not
by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD
of hosts.)
Notice again what
it said in Ex. 4:26 AFTER THEY FULFILLED THE COVENANT OF
CIRCUMCISION; SO HE "GOD" LET HIM GO.
Dear friend of
mine, YOUR NOT GOING ANYWHERE IN FULFILLING THE CALL OF GOD,
UNTIL YOU CUT THE FLESH OFF FROM YOUR LIFE!
Dear Pastor, the
Church your pastoring will never amount to anything for God and
His Work, until FLESH IS CUT OFF, and the RIGHTEOUSNESS
and HOLINESS OF GOD IS PREACHED AND LIVED. Dear Evangelist,
do you want to be SUCCESSFUL IN WINNING SOULS, and BE
USED BY GOD TO MINISTER TO THE GREAT NEED OF MEN AND WOMEN IN
THIS HOUR? Then the FLESH MUST BE CUT OFF.
How can we ever
expect to bring DELIVERANCE to those who are bound, when we
ourselves are bound? 2Pet. 2:19 says, (While they promise them
liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption:
for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in
bondage.) I must truly be Free, before I can ever expect to HELP
OTHERS GET FREE.
I am persuaded
that all who are sincere about their walk with God know, that, it
is COMPLETE OBEDIENCE which God REQUIRES OUT OF US. You
know that it was DISOBEDIENCE in the very beginning that SEPARATED
MANKIND FROM GOD. And it is Disobedience to the REQUIREMENT
of God to CIRCUMCISE YOUR HEARTS, that will stop you short
of fulfilling the Will of God for your life.
Circumcision
Brings Promise
Now remember,
Abraham and his wife Sarah had tried for many, many years to have
a child, but could not have one. But when God called Abraham, His
Promise to him was the Promise of a BLESSED SEED.
But after years
had went by, and still the Promise of God had not came to pass,
Sarah gets the notion that the Promises of God can be attained by
Carnal and Fleshly efforts. So she persuaded Abraham to take her
handmaid Hagar the Egyptian, and go into her and try to bring
forth GOD'S PROMISE. But I declare unto you by the authority of
God's Word, that the PROMISES OF GOD CAN NEVER BE HAD AND
ENJOYED THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF FLESH! The only thing Flesh
can bring forth is MORE FLESH! It will bring forth after
it's own kind. FLESH BEGETS FLESH, AS PIGS BEGET PIGS,
AND VULTURES BEGET VULTURES! THUS FLESH CAN NEVER BIRTH
THAT WHICH IS AFTER THE SPIRIT.
If you go in, and
know Hagar the only thing that it can BRING FORTH IS AN
ISHMAEL! Dear friend of mine; you will never get an Isaac
" SON OF PROMISE" with a Hagar "Bondwoman".
Gal.4:22 & 23 (For it is written, that Abraham had two sons,
the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. ver.23 But he
who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he
of the freewoman was by promise.) Look at verses 28 - 30 also,
(Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. ver.29
But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him
that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. ver.30
Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman
and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be
heir with the son of the freewoman.
Now it must be
noted that the SON OF PROMISE, "Isaac" can not be
conceived and birth until God gives Abraham the COVENANT OF
CIRCUMCISION. There MUST BE A CUTTING OFF OF THE FLESH OF THE
FORESKIN! And it was not like Abraham and his wife Sarah had
not tried to have children; they had tried, and tried, and tried,
and tried, and tried, and then tried again and again. Only to get
nothing. BUT PRAISE GOD, THAT WAS BEFORE THE COVENANT OF
CIRCUMCISION!
And let me make
note to this; JUST ONE TIME WITH HAGAR AND A ISHMAEL IS
CONCEIVED AND BIRTH! It's not a hard thing to bring forth
after the Flesh. Anyone can do that, but it takes a LIFE
SEPARATED FROM THE WORLD, AND SUBMITTED TO GOD TO BRING
FORTH THAT WHICH PLEASES GOD! For God's Word has not changed,
and His Word declares: 2 Cor.6:17 & 18 (Wherefore come out
from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ver.18
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and
daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.)
Notice now, once
Abraham hears from God and CUTS COVENANT WITH GOD THROUGH
CIRCUMCISION, he goes into his wife Sarah and she conceives
and brings forth the PROMISE OF GOD!
Now we know that
Christ is the fulfilling of ALL the types and shadows of the Old
Covenant. And His life of COMPLETE VICTORY OVER THE FLESH,
and COMPLETE OBEDIENCE TO THE FATHER, has brought forth
many sons and daughters unto God.
You see just as
soon as Jesus gave up the ghost on the cross, the Veil of the
Temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom. It was that
Veil that keep Fallen man from entering into the Holy of Holies.
But Jesus' Complete Victory over the Flesh, satan and sin made a
entrance into the Holy place where God dwells. The book of Heb.
10:19 - 22 says, (Having therefore, brethren, boldness to
enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, ver.20 By a new
and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the
veil, that is to say, his flesh; ver.21 And having an
high priest over the house of God; ver.22 Let us draw near with a
true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with
pure water.)
So we see that the
Veil which keeps us SEPARATED FROM GOD IS FLESH. But once
FLESH IS CUT OFF THROUGH THE CIRCUMCISION WHICH IS MADE WITHOUT
HANDS, that is the CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART UNTO GOD,
which is done by BELIEVING ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, ACCEPTING
HIM AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, REPENTING OF YOUR LIFE OF
SIN, AND THEN GOING FORTH LIVING YOUR LIFE DAILY SEPARATED
FROM THE WORLD AND SIN IN COMPLETE OBEDIENCE TO GOD AND HIS WORD;
then we are encouraged to COME BOLDLY INTO THE THRONE ROOM OF GOD.
Hear what Jesus
has to say about this Covenant of Circumcision; Luke 9:23 (And he
said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.) and
Luke 14:25 - 27 (And there went great multitudes with him: and he
turned, and said unto them, ver.26 If any man come to me, and
hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and
brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he
cannot be my disciple. ver.27 And whosoever doth not bear
his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.)
