BACKGROUND: • Alien race at approximately the same technological level as humanity. • Possess emotions and psychological taboos, specifically about death. Believe that humanity is an army of half-dead corpses. • Have an extremely different physiology based on sulfur dioxide. Exposure to water (and water vapour) causes a chemical reaction creating sulfuric acid, and thus leading to death. • The Chigs smell like sulfur, and their suits emit a sulfur signature. • The scent of humans is repellent to the aliens. Refer to humans as Red Stink Creatures. • During the failed peace negotiations, it was revealed that the Chigs had warned AeroTech not to colonize planets in the direction of their homeworld. Aerotech kept this a secret, and thus the UN agreed to the colonization projects of Vesta and Tellus. This sparked the war. • Have observed man for centuries. Aware and afraid of man's violent tendencies. This fear was exploited by the Silicates in order to create an Alliance. |
